Philippine Folkdances Thought/ Reaction Paper No.5

As I stare at its intricate weaves and intense colors of the collections and culture dances, I was brought back to my past time of peace, prosperity, and harmony way back in my high school years, being one of the dancers of Folk Dance. Indeed, I am taken back by the several various stories of the textile and show that lies in front of me- a cultural masterpiece in our country- Philippine Folkdances that was gracefully danced by our co- Carolinian, University of San Carlos. For countless years, Philippine folkdances has been one of the mose celebrated and prized culture and treasure of the Philippines. Sad to say, now in this contemporary world, this kind of dance is detoriarating because of globalization- that tries to eradicate our own cultural dances. It is worth to note then, that we Carolinians must do ways to preserve this unique culture in us. We must preserve not just because it is our culture, but we must preserve it because this is like a symbol that represents US. We must uphold the values behind every step in every Philippine Folklore. We must not let this aspect of culture be overshadowed or be replaced with the modernization. From generation to generation, the customary designs in every costume and the intense pattern of every step are always passed on by our previous generations. Thus, there is a high need to preserve and strengthen the ideals and beliefs of Filipinos. Seeing the show had made its mark on the modern Filipino culture with its elegance and transcience of style that display an immense variety of color and talent exepmlifying the most traditional masterpiece of the Filipinos.
