RESERVATIONS
As per the Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer. For an updated list of state-wise OBCs eligible for availing the benefit of reservation, please see the list maintained by the NCBC at its website http://ncbc.nic.in/backward-classes/index.html. You may also access information in respect of the creamy layerat http://ncbc.nic.in/html/creamylayer.html as well as the clarifications issued by the Department of Personnel & Training on the definition of creamy layer and income criteria at http://persmin.gov.in/WriteData/WMS/ScanDocument/ 36033_5_2004_01 April2005.htm.
In case of NC-OBC category, the castes included in Central List of OBC by the National Council of Backward Classes, Government of India as on September 28, 2011 (Last day of registration) will be used. Any subsequent changes will not be effective for CAT2011.
As per the provision under section 39 of the PWD Act, 1995, 3% seats are reserved for Differently Abled (DA) candidates. The three categories of disability are: a) low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment, and c) locomotor disability/cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if the candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40%, as certified by a medical authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.
The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavour of IIMs that the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/Non-Creamy OBC categories join the Programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in the admission process. The candidates should read carefully the description of admission process followed by each IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category will be entertained after the closure of registration window, hence, the applicants are advised to give attention while registering.
SELECTION PROCESS FOR ADMISSION TO PGP-PGDM (POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT) AND PGP-PGDCM (POST GRAUDATE DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER AIDED MANAGEMENT)
Candidates from India
Selections for the post-graduate programmes are done through a two-stage process. In the first stage, candidates will have to appear for CAT2011. The candidates will be short-listed based on CAT2011 score and academic performance. In the second stage, candidates will have take a Written Ability Test (WAT) and appear before a panel for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) Candidates short-listed for PGDCM will have to appear for a separate Personal Interview, which will also evaluate candidates competence and interest in ICT. A candidate (including a reserved category candidate) to be short-listed for GD and PI for admission to both the post-graduateprogrammes i.e., PGDM and PGDCM will have to obtain a minimum level CAT percentile scores as spelt out below. However, the actual cut-off used for short-listing, however, may be higher than the minimum cut-off and would depend upon the performance of candidates in CAT2011. Cut-off for short-listing of candidates may be different for different categories (e.g. Open, SC, ST, NC-OBC and DA candidates).
Final selection for both the programmes PGDM and PGDCM is made using multiple criteria, such as performance in CAT2011, WAT, GD and PI and relevant Work Experience.
Interview Centres for candidates in India : IIMC will conduct its interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Mark your choice of interview centre at the time of CAT2100 registration window from August 17 to September 28, 2011.
Overseas candidates Indians and foreign nationals living, working or studying outside India at least for the period January 1, 2011 - February 15, 2012 are considered as overseas candidates. Candidates residing in neighbouring countries like Nepal from which there are no entry restrictions to India, are not considered as "overseas candidates". Overseas candidates are admitted based on performance in GMAT, academic performance, referees recommendations, group discussion and personal interview. The Institute reserves the right to exempt an overseas candidate from personal interview. Overseas applicants can directly download the Application Form from the Institutes website on or after September 15, 2011. Candidates may be required to visit India for GD & PI in February/March/April 2012. The GMAT score of candidates selected for 2011-2013 batch ranged from 700 to 770. Interview Centres for overseas candidates : IIMC will conduct its interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Stage II: Total score of a candidate will be computed out of 100, the break-up of which is given in Table 2 below:
For SSC and HSC marks, scores will be awarded out of five points for each based on Table 3 below. The marks obtained by candidates will be rounded to the nearest integers:

Shortlisted candidates based on the above criteria will be appearing for the GDPI which also has a written component. The shortlisting will be based on merit in each category, minimum qualification on the above mentioned criteria would not automatically shortlist the candidate for the next level.

*Points will be awarded to candidates, who have already completed or will be completing their post graduate/professional qualification by 31st January, 2012. For work experience, a maximum of eight marks will be awarded depending on the length of service as on 31 January, 2012. Only managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of curricular requirement will not be considered.

The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum qualification on the above mentioned criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission in to IIMC.
