ASSIGNMENT 2A Based on Exploration A and B above: Create your own example for Exploration A.

Imagine that my aim is TO CREATE A TV GRID. Lets see now EXPLORATION A: Ok, so first, I may ask my students about their favourite TV programmes, they can discuss in pairs what they like about Argentinian TV and American sitcoms for example. Then, I may give them a text in which different types of programmes are mentioned (new vocab). I may ask students to recap the text by telling me what types there are without looking at the text (REMEMBER). OK, then I can give them an authentic TV grid and based on the little explanations for each programme, I can ask them to classify those programmes into types (UNDERSTAND). Imagine that now, I make them notice and infer connectors (new grammatical items) which explain whats going on with some soap operas. I may ask them to get in pairs (information gap) and complete another TV grid in which connectors or dates/times are missing (APPLY). Based on that we can watch shots from different programmes and ask them to put them organise them as a regular TV watcher would see those programmes (ANALYSE). I would personally skip EVALUATE as its not intimately related to my aim. Last, I can ask them to plan in groups a TV grid for a day and present it next class together with a handout for their peers (CREATE) Create your own example for Exploration B.

Lets see now EXPLORATION B. For example, imagine that you plan a topic-based lesson about immigration. Your familiar language may be the present simple or the simple past, to ask about where immigrants came from, etc. And you then revise familiar concepts like immigration and emigration. But then, you can exemplify internal/external immigration and internal/external emigration for political (refugees), economic, social, educational reasons. First, you give examples to teach the new content and then you introduce the new language (new vocabulary and connectors or if-clauses to explain reasons/causes/consequences of these more complex forms of migration.
