Oxford City Council is inviting talented school leavers (in years 11-13) to apply for 6 new administrative apprenticeship opportunities commencing in September 2012. Apprentices will spend 2 years working across a number of key service areas in the Council, learning a fantastic range of skills. Oxford City Council employs over 1,200 people who are helping achieve the Councils goal of building a world class city for everyone. So what is an administrative apprenticeship?


These apprenticeships will enable you to play an important support role within the Council whilst learning valuable skills. Administrators handle a number of day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure projects run smoothly in fact 97% of employers say that effective administration is essential to their business!

How will you learn?


You will spend half a day in college participating in classroom/practical sessions and the other 41/2 days are spent in the workplace putting what you have learned into practice. All aspects of training will be carried out in college. You will then take the skills you have learnt at college out to the workplace and will be expected to bring in work based evidence and build a portfolio with the evidence you have collected in the workplace. An assessor will visit you to observe your working practices. All key skills will be delivered at college. You will be mentored during the apprenticeship by an experienced apprentice mentor.

Recruitment criteria:

Aged 1618 Currently attending school in the City Resident of Oxford City Ability to complete an NVQ at Level 2 or 3 and meet entry requirements Drive and ambition!
