Materials: Shape handout, computers with PowerPoint and Internet, Teacher-made PowerPoint and worksheet for homework
Procedure: 1. Teacher will review shapes learned previously such as rectangle, triangle, octagon, square (all 2D) and cube, cylinder, sphere and pyramid (all 3-D). 2. Teacher will hand out a list of 2-D and 3-D shapes to students. 3. Teacher show the student the sample PowerPoint of 6 shapes (3 two-dimensional and 3 threedimensional). 4. The PowerPoint must include a picture of the shape, number of vertices, edges, angles, faces and sides.
5. Students will be able to pick their own six shapes. They will be working in partners and have inclass time to work. 6. Students will present their finished projects with the class so a variety of shapes are shown to all students. 7. Students will be assigned a worksheet for homework with shapes that they need to identify from the presentations. Assessment: Teacher will assess their PowerPoints and make sure the information is accurate. Also students presentations will be assessed for communication and technology use.
