Diagnostic assessment and Rubric for summative

task:
Summative assessment task for end of term
Students will complete a poster using two dimensional shapes they have drawn over the
unit. Students are required to make decisions as to what they will need to incorporate in
their poster based from set criteria in order to be successful with this task and
demonstrate their understanding. In order for a successful grade students must draw
and label correctly a variety of two dimensional three and four sided shapes that they will
used on their poster. On the day of presentation students are required to identify and talk
about the features of one of the shapes they have decided to incorporate in their poster
and also present to the class a three dimensional object they have chosen from home
and be able to identify to class the objects features correctly.

Due Date/s:
Poster-September 22nd
Presentation of poster- September 23rd

Criteria:
Knowledge and understanding
The learner will know and understand that three-sided 2D shapes have three
faces and three points
The learner will know and understand that four sided 2D shapes have four face
and four points/corners
The learner will know and understand that three-dimensional objects have
features, including flat and curved surfaces and faces, straight, curved, vertical,
horizontal and parallel lines and edges, corners
Procedural Knowledge
The learner will be able to describe the features of two dimensional three and
four sided shapes
The learner will be able to drawing two dimensional shapes without digital aids
The learner will be able to Identify and describe the features of three
dimensional objects
Decision making
Students will need to make decisions based from the criteria of the task as to
what they will include in their poster that they will be constructing and what three
dimensional shape they choose to present.

Formative assessment week 9 lesson 3:

Drawing two dimensional shapes Students are required to draw using graph paper two
dimensional shapes. Firstly they must draw a three sided 2d shape and name it. Secondly
students must draw a four sided shape and name it.
Justification: In order for students to meet achievement standards in this unit students must
be able to accurately draw three and four sided two dimensional shapes and be able to identify
the features of the two dimensional shapes. The Learning Manager will utilise this resource to
monitor if and where students may need extra assistance and will be used as to help inform
future lessons. This resource also gives students the opportunity to improve their
understanding of two dimensional shapes and their features.
