Entrance

You have heard of the stores racetrack and the path that guides the customer through as much of the store as possible, with ease through several departments to the exit. When a customer comes into the garden centre specically to purchase fertilizer, they want to nd it easily and leave. If you have eectively used the layout, the customer will nd the fertilizer as well as some other items that will create additional sales. When you are walking through your garden centres layout, consider some of these points: Entrance area is a great opportunity to entice the customer with strong displays of promotions or inspirational displays. Hot spots are areas that are frequently shopped. Customers will stop by and notice the products that are displayed that lead into other large open areas with seasonal displays. Hot spots can be created in traditional cold spots by creating emphases on that area of the store, either through lighting, aisle arrangement, or the size of the display. Cold spots are furthest away from the racetrack and often host necessary items. They are areas of least travel, usually at the end of the aisles away from main trac areas. Main aisles must be suciently wide to ensure customers can browse easily, at least two carts wide. Cash register and checkout areas are usually positioned near the exit doors. This area is a great opportunity for impulse areas because all customers have to pass through and sometimes have to wait.
