Technology Integration Unit/Lesson Plan Template (modified from MTS Lesson Plan Template) Lesson title: Life Cycle of a Plant Name: Dianne Van Beek Subject area: Science Grade level: K- 2nd Academic Support Time frame: Third Trimester 2012 Brief lesson/unit Summary/Description Students will learn about plant life cycle, plant beans, and keep a plant journal. State Content Standard/Benchmark addressed http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp Life Science 2b. Students know both plants and animals need water, animals need food, and plants need light. Educational Technology Standard/Benchmark addressed http://www.iste.org/standards.aspx Creativity & Innovation 1a & b. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes and create original works as a means of personal or group expression. 21st Century Skill(s)/Theme(s) addressed Use Smart Board to learn about the plants need for water and sunlight. Integration into NLMUSD Curriculum Maps (If applicable in Language arts or Math) Meshed Unit 6 K-2 - Identifying and using the elements of narratives and non-fiction texts (expository, non-fiction, informational) Students will understand (lesson/unit objectives): Students will demonstrate and utilize technology to understand the life cycle of a plant and what plants need to survive. Essential Questions to guide this unit/lesson and focus teaching and learning: What do plants need to survive? What happens if they do not get all those thing? Technology & Web 2.0 resources needed (hardware and software, websites) Google images, digital camera, a-z reading, various web sites, enchanted learning. Procedure (learning activities)/ lessons of unit 1. Students read about plants

2. Students plant seeds based on what they have learned.

3. Students keep a journal to record growth of their plant. 4. Student use website to understand plant needs. Assessment Method Student will show understanding by presenting at Open House.
