DRUG CARD GUIDELINES

Starting this week you will research all medications ordered for your client for each clinical day. The medication information should be written on 4X6 or 5X7 cards (NO 3X5 cards). Each medication must be on a separate card, one card per medication. The format is as

Put your name on the back of each card. The cards MUST be NEAT and complete. Please print in INK or type. Be prepared to answer these questions: What is this drug for? Why is your client receiving the drug? Is the ordered dose within the recommended guidelines? What are the significant side effects? What nursing actions will you implement? Note: The drug card should have the information you need to give the ordered drug for your client. It is a guide for safe drug administration. Look for information that supports your actions. It should be your reference to Right" drug administration.
