Interquartile Range

Interquartile Range The Interquartile Range is a part of statistic. The term interquartile is used to measure the statistical dispersion. In the simple definition we can say that the interquartile range is a measurement of variability, whose value is based on dividing a data set into quartiles. The interquartile range process divides the values into different quartiles. The values that divide each part are known as first, second and third quartiles. In the mathematical notation we can represent these quartiles by Q1, Q2 and Q3. In the interquartile range each quartile has there different role to play. In the below we show you the description about the quartiles: a) Q1 = here Q1 can be represent as a middle value in the first half of the rank ordered data set. b) set. Q2 = in the Interquartile Range the value of Q2 can be define as a median value in the

c) Q3 = At last the value of Q3 can be define as a middle value that is in second half of the rank ordered data set. Know More About Gamma Distribution

In a simple mean we can say that the interquartile range is a range whose value is equal to the difference value of Q1 and Q3. In a more descriptive way we can say that interquartile range is works like a standard derivation. The interquartile range is descriptive statistic which is used to summarize the extent of the spread of the available data. In the mathematical form interquartile range can be called as a IQR, the IQR is exactly a difference between the given first quartile and the third quartile. Lets show you below: Third quartile First quartile = IQR Q3 Q1 = IQR

To get the value of the IQR we need to find the value of the se number and these numbers can be obtain by dividing the given data set into half then find the median value of each half. The obtain value consider as the value of Q3 and Q1. The IQR is used to build box plots. It is simply a graphical representation of a probability distribution. In the standard definition we can say that Interquartile is a process that divides a given data set into two groups of equal size at the statistical median. If in case there is an even number of data values or two groups consisting of values on the either side of the statistical median itself plus the statistical median if there is an odd numbers of data values. The interquartile range can be calculated by performing the minus between the first and third quartile. Lets show you the process of IQR by the following given example. Example: find the IQR for the given data set 2, 5, 6, 9, 12? Solution: This is the five number summaries that are Learn More :- Significant Figures Calculator

Minimum value = 2 First quartile = (2 + 5) / 2 = 3.5 Median value is = 6, which is given in the data set. So, third quartile will be = (9 + 12) / 2 = 21 / 2 = 10.5 Then Maximum value will be = 12, which is given in the data set. Now we can calculate the IQR = Q3 Q1 = 10.5 3.5 = 7
