NARATIVE
This music video is conceptual as the whole video is played backwards. This is mainly to reflect the lyrics I want to go back to the starts . Therefore the story is portrayed in a backwards moment while the lead singer is singing to go back to the start which is effectively the end of the video. The ending of the video is a car crash with the lead singer Chris Martin and a women crashing in a inwards motion which is to be assumed as his lover. We as the viewers can assume its her lover as the song consists of love story, however it is shrouded in ambiguity with no real connection or reference to a lover.

The car crash could be symbolic of underlying themes the music video was perhaps trying to convey. It could be a macrocosm of the assumed relationship as could suggest that it had ended badly, hence why I want to go back to the start was repeated. The car driving could suggest that they had a journey The car swerving to avoid an incoming car effectively resulting in their brutal end could suggest that it wasnt their fault and it was unexpected. The fact that Chris Martin was walking in the street as opposed to the lover being dead could even suggest that he was better off than her and it damaged her a lot more.
