For years, your guidance held the key To the potential in young minds You showed your students they could be Successful members of mankind You gave them, through your love and care The greatest gift they could receive You taught them how to work and share But, most of all, how to believe. Each child was like your very own With different traits and varied styles But, your direction set the tone For their future, across the miles Your students could not always see The lessons you shared from the heart Yet, as they reached their destiny They understood you played a part. For years, your wisdom touched your class But, seasons change and hours fade Your teaching days have come to pass Though, not the difference you have made You may be setting down your chalk In favour of time in the sun But, the minds youve helped to unlock Shall validate the work youve done.
