Segadelli 11/3/11 CEO Paper The Chief Executive Officer is the most important job in a given company. Mark Parker is the CEO of Nike and he took the job over from Philip Knight. He has created the best athletic company in the world and it continues to be the leading in innovation for all sports. Mark Parker attended and earned his bachelors degree in political science at Penn State University in 1977. He ran on their track team. In 1979, went to Nike and worked for them as a footwear designer in the Research and Development facility in New Hampshire. He has held many positions at Nike, including Division Vice President in charge of development in 1987, Corporate Vice President in 1989, General Manager in 1993, and then in 1998 he moved to Vice President of Global Footwear. Before he became the Chief Executive Officer he was the copresident with Charles Denson. He has held many jobs in Nike since that is the only place where he has worked he was a footwear designer, Division Vice President, Corporate Vice President, General Manager, Vice President of footwear, co-president, and now he is currently the Chief Executive Officer. He has been the CEO since January of 2006, just after William Perez resigned.

Andrade 2 His current compensation consists of many different things and categories. His raw salary is $1,535,557. The money he makes off stock is around $3,500,065. Options are also part of his compensation bringing in $2,916,095 per year. Other perks include non-equity compensations with $2,735,569, giving his total years worth to be about $11,030,681. Since he has been the Chief Executive Officer at Nike he has created the first Green Shoe used for sustainability. He co-created the idea of yellow, livestrong bands for Lance Armstrongs foundation. Mark Parker's third year as co-president, he made it famous by creating multimillion-dollar endorsement deals with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Serena Williams. He also designed the Nike+iPod technology, allowing you to put a chip into your shoes making it possible to listen to you music while running. The chip also has the technology to track you distance ran. He also created the Nike Free technology in Nikes running shoes, making them extremely light and close to barefoot running. These decisions were very wise, because it brought the company to a record stock level and $19 billion in revenue. He has done a good job, because it has risen to be the best footwear and leading athletic gear on the market. Mark Parker also helped lead the growth of the Nike brand. He is responsible for the growth of Nike's global business, which includes Cole Haan, Converse Inc., Hurley International, and Umbro Ltd. He has grown the company to be the best company in its department, by sponsoring the most athletes,

Andrade 3 teams, and sports. Chief Executive Officer Mark Parker has the skills to steer the company through the recession. He will and has, because the company reached a stock high in 2010 and revenue topped $19 billion. The company was also rated the second best company in innovation, just behind Apple. The CEOs decisions will raise stock values, because they already have been and people will buy Nike gear no matter what, because of the new innovation and quality he creates. Yes, Mark Parker should remain the Chief Executive Officer for Nike, because the company has profited greatly from his work, by being the best in the business, and also employing one million people in over 160 countries. The next thing for Nike is unknown at the moment, but they will continue to create new innovative products, that attract buyers around the world, and the company will stay atop the list for athletic gear and apparel. The company will continue to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. (Nikes mission statement) This company is worth investing in, because they just create the best material for what you need. I have Nike gear and its great quality and works great, and thats the way that every other customer feels. Because of this, the company will do well, so investing in Nike is a great idea, making it the best athletic company in the world and it continues to be the leading in innovation for all sports.
