I, being an elected representative of the people of Bhagalpur, would care to draw your attention towards the persistent need of the local people to set up an airport in the beautiful city of Bhagalpur. Additionally, I would like to apprise you that several proposals have been sent in this regard by the Bihar state govt. to the concerned ministry &, indeed, the request was accepted to develop the Greenfield airport in Bhagalpur during the 11th Five-Year Plan. I, on behalf of the people of Bhagalpur, wish to express our deep gratitude for your support in this regard. However, it is with very heavy heart I bring to your notice that the airport at Bhagalpur has still to see the light of day. Acclaimed all over the world as Silk City, Bhagalpur is the second highest producer and exporter of silk in the country. Bhagalpur is the third largest city & is the second biggest economy of Bihar. Bhagalpur holds the unique distinction of being the confluence of cultural heritage tourism & modern cutting-edge trade. Several premier academic & industrial institutions like NTPC, flourish in the city. Architectural heritage sites like Vikramshila University(Atichak), the Patalpuri Cave & Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary adorn the city. Being strategically located in eastern Bihar, setting up an airport in Bhagalpur would improve the lives of the people around living in Banka This matter has been pending for long making the people . I humbly seek your support in this regard &, if it impedes, also would request to review the policy so that the people of Bhagalpur could derive the benefit of air infrastructure & support the Bhagalpur in realising its potential to the fullest. Your support will not only boost our trade & tourism but will also go on to enhance the Bhagalpurs image in the comity of the states. We would be keenly awaiting for your affirmative reply.
