We will meet just outside the entrance to Tesco's supermarket at 10.30am, look out for the big blue box a number of litter pickers!!! There is ample car parking. Purley railway station is 3minutes walk away and Buses 466 stop is next to the store. Please let me know if you are coming along so that I can bring the right amount of equipment with me. Hope to see you there.

Chance for Young People to Volunteer on the Farm.

Do you organise people and are you looking for something free and exciting to do as a group? Then bring them to Deen City Farm on the 21st, 22nd, or 23rd of August! Your group will get a real taste of volunteering on the farm as they muck out, feed the animals, and learn lots of animal handling skills. This is a good opportunity for them to socialise with their peers, and gain some valuable experience of work with animals. . If you have a group of 10-12 young people that would be keen to have a go at volunteering at the farm, please get in touch with Ben at volunteers@deencityfarm.co.uk for more information.

SEWA Day October 7th 2012

Sewa is a universal concept, which involves performing an act of kindness without expectation of reward. It is performed selflessly and without ulterior motive. As a concept, Sewa in embedded in Indian traditions, and is actively promoted by different cultures and faiths - as the core belief is the same - to sacrifice your time and resources for the benefit of others without wanting anything in return. On Sewa Day, thousands of good-hearted people across the world come together to perform Sewa and experience the joy of giving in its truest sense. By participating in this collective endeavour, we hope that the seeds of Sewa are watered so that acts of kindness and public service are performed more often. Sewa Day is a catalyst in making this happen. Last year we undertook a number of events on the New Addington Estate to celebrate the day. If you have any suggestions about how we can celebrate the day this year then please e-mail me to let me know.
