Dear Parents/Carers, I hope you all enjoyed a restful summer break in spite of the weather! Our first couple of weeks back have been very busy, and it has been lovely to welcome our new pupils who are all settling in so well, and who seem to be taking the big change from Primary to Secondary in their stride. We wish all of our new pupils a very happy and successful time at Carrongrange! I was so impressed to see all of our pupils looking so smart in their school uniforms: thank you for your support in this. All the High Schools in Falkirk have a Uniform Policy, and our pupils look very mature and proud in their Carrongrange uniform. We also give a very warm welcome to Mrs Fray and Mrs Mathews who have joined our staff team: I am sure that they will enjoy working with us at Carrongrange. At the very end of term, we had to say a fond farewell to Mrs Menmuir and Mrs Moore, who both retired. As decisions were not made until the last week, we were not able to let everyone know that they were leaving. We wish them both a very happy retirement, and thank them for their special contribution to the education of pupils at both Dawson Park and Carrongrange Schools. So many young people benefited from their commitment and concern and they will be missed very much. We have a number of new teaching appointments to make, and recruitment is under way. Until new members of staff take up these posts, we are very grateful to Mrs Dellison, Mr McDonald, Miss Dave, Mr Black, Mrs Maxtone, Miss Procek and Miss McIntyre for working with us on a temporary basis. Congratulations to our pupils who achieved so well in their SQA qualifications we are very proud of you! We are all adjusting to our new school hours once again, thank you for your support in this. Additional time for registration and the reduced lunch time are both working well. You will receive a Calendar of Events in the near future which will give you information about when you will receive your childs reports and dates for Assemblies, Parents Nights, holidays and in-service days etc. You are all welcome to join us for Assemblies which celebrate success and achievement. On Monday, 3rd September, in place of our first Assembly, we are looking forward to a concert by a Gaelic Music group: this is open to all pupils. Working in partnership with parents and carers is very important to us at Carrongrange, and we look forward to working with you to support your children and to ensure that they have every opportunity to achieve their full potential. Very Best Wishes,

Gillian Roberson
Headteacher
