LAB 1: WORD PROCESSING

Learning Outcomes By the end of this lab, students should be able to: Know about Microsoft Word Know how to start Microsoft Word Identify the basic features of Microsoft Word Creating, opening and close a document. Saving a new/ exist document. Editing text, selecting, cutting, moving and deleting data in the text.

Activity 1a This program enables you to understand how to start in using Microsoft Word Procedure: 1) Starting Microsoft Word software for Windows.

a) Click

b) Point to Program and select Microsoft Word or

2) Whats on the Microsoft Word workspace?

a) Home bar, Insert Bar, Page Layout bar, References, Mailings, Review and View. b) Displaying, moving or hiding toolbars c) Submenus and tear-off toolbars d) Docking/floating windows and toolbars e) Undoing and repeating commands. f) To restore, minimize and maximize the document.

g) Changing setting (measurements, shortcut keys, etc). h) Getting help.


3) Displaying a document in different ways.

a) Displaying a document in web layout view, print layout view, full screen, zoom or split the
document. i) Normal- the simplified version of a document. ii) Web layout to display the document see as in web page. iii) Print layout it is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) to see how elements such as text/ graphics will be positioned on the printed page. iv) Full screen- the document in maximize without title bar, ruler and etc. v) Zoom to choose the size the document in view (% view). vi) Split to see different parts of a document at the same time by splitting the document into two panes. Activity 1b This program enables you to create a simple document. Procedure: 1) Creating a new document

a) To create a new document in Microsoft Word


2) Editing text, selecting, cutting, moving and deleting data in the text.

a) Type and edit the text as given below.

EXERCISE 1 1. Load Microsoft Word. 2. Type the following text: The Fairy Tales we deserve The Disney Stories that enchant us today are drawn from ancient, worldwide folk tradition. Highlight the 2nd row and right-align the data. Apply superscript to the word Xuereb and change it to capital letters. Below the table insert a picture about Computers from clip art. Set the magnification to 75% Set the top margin to 3 cm. Save your work and close Microsoft word.

LAB 2: WORD PROCESSING Learning Outcomes

By the end of this lab, students should be able to: Format document Insert pictures and graphics into document Set printing option (page preview, page setup and to print).

Activity 2a This part enables you how to set some effect in the simple document in view layout. Procedure: 1) Formatting paragraph and text as mention in the Activity 3b. a) To set the paragraph spacing. b) Changing the font formatting toolbar. c) To set the font size, color and spacing. d) Using Styles e) To set the text alignment (position right, left, center or justified). 2) To change the text case by using the Change Case menu. a) Using upper case, lower case. 3) Finding and replacing text or going to a specific place in a document. a) To find the word runs and replace it with the word operates. b) Go to search some data in necessary. 4) Inserting the page number, date and time or auto text. a) To set/ insert the page number, date and time, the auto text (page of pages, author name or etc). 5) Setting heading and footer. a) To present the text in header and footer as below. .

Activity 2b This program enables you to set and modify the graphics effect in the document. Procedure: 1) Inserting a suitable picture in the file FP105EXERCISE3B.doc a) To insert an image. b) How to format the picture (picture toolbar). 2) Fontwork Gallery a) To insert the WordArt (title) to replace the exist title. b) Modifying Fontwork c) Formatting Fontwork. Note: Save the FP105EXERCISE3B.doc file and close it. Note: Create a new document as FP105EXERCISE3D.doc 3) Creating a simple drawing/ auto shape objects. a) Modifying the lines to arrow style or dash style. b) Setting drawing/ objects in text. c) Grouping or ungrouping drawing objects. Note: Save the FP105EXERCISE3D.doc file and close it.

Whatever your reason, you will be glad to know that creating a flyer in Microsoft Word can be a simple and even enjoyable project. Use your creativity to design your own flayer to advertise about your interest. You can choose any topic to be included in your flyer.

LAB 3: WORD PROCESSING

Learning Outcomes By the end of this lab, students should be able to: Send document through e-mail. Create drawing/ auto shape objects. Merge data in a database with the text of a document. Integrate charts with documents. Place hyperlinks in documents.

Activity 3a This program enables you to use mail merge in the document. Procedure: Note: Create a new document as FP105EXERCISE3E.doc 1) Creating the data source. 2) Registering a data source. 3) Creating a form letter. Activity 3b This program enables you to manage your data in table. Procedure: Note: to create a new document as FP105EXERCISE3F.doc 1) Creating table as TABLE 3 a) To create a table by insertion. i) Must know how many columns in necessary.

Activity 3c This program enables you to analysis data in chart style. Procedure: 1) Using the Table 3. 2) How to change data in a chart style. a) Hows to convert the data to the chart form? 3) Creating chart. a) Editing title, name of axis-x, axis-y and/ or axis-z. (For 3D chart)

4) Modifying items in the chart. a) Setting the gridlines, axis and label. b) Formatting the color, pattern and display of the chart. 5) Changing the type of the chart. a) To select the type and style of chart.

Activity 3d This program enables you to send a document by e-mail. Procedure: 1) E-mail the FP105EXERCISE3F.doc a) Compose and attach.
