TeamLuby Update Week of January 2, 2013 Spring Street School Mrs.

Lubys class

Thank you for all the help with our Snowflake Party before the break. Everyone had a wonderful time quessing their Secret Snowflakes and opening their gifts. I hope everyone enjoyed their breaks with family, friends, snow or warm weather activities, As the new year begins, we will continue to focus on a variety of different writing styles narrative, opinioted, and persuasive. Math will become more involved with story problems, longer multiplication and division as well as fractions. Check out the websites under TeamLuby for more practice. Science continues with simple machines talk with your child about possible inventions! Social studies focuses on rights and responsibilities before heading into the South and Midwest regions of the US. We are excited for Go as he is now in Japan for a few months, but we will miss him! I am sure he will keep us up-to-date on Kidblog! Our class members are Front Door Greeters this week. Although I do not have the list at home, perhaps you can ask your child if he/she is a greeter. If so, 8:30 AM arrival time on the day he/she thinks!

Dont forget sneakers on Tuesday and records on Wednesday! Students will NOT be allowed to call home if they are forgottenas well as homework items.

Back to our Traditions narrative children will complete their drafts and

revise and edit their work before finalizing them. Math We will formally begin Unit 6 with more mult/div number stories. Before the break we focused on open response questions the students have done well structuring their responses and working to answer them completely!
