Thursday 10 January 2013 Assalamu Alaykum, One of Islamic Relief South Africas core objectives is to support the educational needs of orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC), to help them attain higher education and skills to move them out of poverty to ultimately become responsible and self-sustaining citizens. Through our Educate-A-Child project, we are assisting approximately 1,200 OVC beneficiaries from pre-school through to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels. The aim is to ensure holistic development of vulnerable children who normally would have no support system, in order for them to grow up to their full potential and become self- sustaining citizens. Services offered at our Osizweni Community Centres are as follows: Day Care services Aftercare services Tuition (Bursaries) and Career Guidance Sports and recreation Life skills and psychosocial support Resource centre Support for Higher Education

Meanwhile, Islamic Relief annually kits out our OVC beneficiaries for the new school year with uniforms, school shoes and stationery packs. The annual Ready for School project forms part of Islamic Reliefs Educate-a-Child campaign. You can do your part by donating as little as R50 towards any of our educational support projects.
