Sessional Exam II Name of Faculty: ER. NAVEEN KUMAR Time Duration 90 Min.

PRANNATH PARNAMI INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY,HISAR FLUID MECHANICS I (CE-205-E) (SEMESTER III)
Max Marks 20

NOTE: - ATTEMPT ANY TWO QUESTIONS.

Ques 1 (A) State Pascals Law. Derive expression for the pressure-density-height. (B) The right limb of a simple U-Tube manometer containing mercury is open to the atmosphere while the left limb is connected to a pipe in which a fluid of sp. gr. 0.8 is flowing. Find the pressure of fluid in the pipe if the difference of mercury level in the two limbs is 40 cm. The height of the fluid in the right limb is 10 cm and height in left limb from the center of pipe is 0.15 m below. Ques 2 (A) Explain meta-center. Also derive the expression for the meta-centric height. (B) Define Dimensional analysis. Explain its Quantities with example. Ques 3 (A) Explain the terms: (i) Absolute, Gauge and Vacuum Pressure with diagram. (ii) Vortex and its type with example. (B) The right limb of a simple U-Tube manometer containing mercury is open to the atmosphere while the left limb is connected to a pipe in which a fluid of sp. gr. 0.7 is flowing. The Centre of pipe is 0.15m below the level of mercury in the right limb. Find the pressure of fluid in the pipe if the difference of mercury level in the two limbs is 300 mm.
