A primary source image of a time card for 117 hours was obtained from this site and used to show the exploitation of workers that many people faced before the development of labor unions. Photo Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. PBS Newshour. MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, 2013. Web. 22 Jan 2013. < http://www.pbs.org/newshour/multimedia/trianglefire/2.html> This website contained fifteen primary source photographs, and each image contained a caption describing the events taking place. The photographs were captured by several different photographers and effectively captured the workers and the conditions they were forced to work in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. Many images in my website were acquired from this collection. The photos allowed the public to be able to view the events of the fire and the unfit working conditions which resulted in many industrial reforms.

Web. 20 Feb 2013. <http://www.loc.gov/rr/news/topics/triangle.html>. The Library of Congress provided me with several primary source newspaper articles. I wasnt able to directly use many of them in my site because of the poor quality of the images, but I was able to gain important insight regarding the fire through the public during the time of the fire. The newspaper articles captured the concern of the nation and their will to create labor reforms.

The New York State Archives contained many primary source images and documents regarding the fire, trial, and impact of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. A letter regarding the Triangle Factory Fire was obtained from this site and used in my website to describe the severity of the fire and its importance it placed on the creation of fire and safety codes.

Cornell University was my most helpful primary source while creating my website. This site contained numerous primary sources including photographs and editorial cartoons, songs, original text documents, a model of the ninth floor, letters, and testimonials from the Triangle Fire Trial. The primary sources guided my research, and gave me a better understanding of the reforms the fire brought. Many of the sources from this site were used throughout my website. A model of the ninth floor along with a list of fire hazards was obtained from this site along with many of my photographs, and a song from the Shirtwaist strikers of 1909.

This website contained information regarding the reforms of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. It gave a brief explanation of the importance the new laws placed on the nation along with the list of specific laws created during 1912 and 1913 as a result of the fire. The two separate lists were copied and embedded as a document into my website to explain the significance the fire had and the new labor reforms that followed. "Biography: Harris and Blanck ." American Experience . WGBH Educational Foundation, 2010. Web. 21 Feb 2013. A biography of the co-founders of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company was found on this site. The site gave a summary of the rise and fall of Harriss and Blancks successful Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. It provided details regarding the events of the Shirtwaist Kings development of the factory along with the decline after the fire. This website contained a basic overview of the companys owners, and their role they had concerning the Triangle Fire.

Edge, Laura B. We Stand As One: The International Ladies Garment Workers Strike, New York 1909. Minneapolis: Twenty-First Century Books, 2011. Print. This book was very helpful to me in gaining insight on the Shirtwaist Strike of 1909. It provided a summary of the events leading up to the strike, the strikers demands, and the importance it had on American Labor reforms. Along with giving details regarding the strike, it also contained information concerning the conditions workers faced in shirtwaist factories, labor unions formed after the fire, and brief descriptions of important people who helped create labor reforms. This book was very visual; it provided me with pictures and subtitles which allowed me to easily locate the facts that proved most important to my research and the creation of my website. Many quotes were obtained from this site and inserted into my website. Greenhouse, Steven. The Big Squeeze: Tough Times for the American Worker. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2008. Print. This book contained little information directly regarding the Shirtwaist Factory Fire and did not have much significance while creating my website. However, my research was guided through the details of this book. It helped me to understand the impact the industrial revolution placed during the growth of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. It also helped me understand the poor working conditions and the low wages workers faced which drove the nation to the creation of labor laws.

This website provided me with a detailed description of the day of the fire, the public looking for blame, and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Trial. This site contained a chart describing the many fire hazards in the building that caused the death of 146 employees, and how Harris and Blanck were considered innocent. I embedded the chart of the The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Trial: Building and Safety Law into my website to show the many safety and fire hazards the employees faced. Marsico, Katie. Perspectives on: the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire: Its Legacy of Labor Rights. New York: Marshall Cavendish, 2010. Print. One of my most valuable secondary sources was this book. The book gave detailed descriptions of the important events before, during, and after the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. It described to me the importance the fire had on New York and how it sparked the revolution for many labor reforms. I inserted many quotes from this book into my website. The descriptions helped me summarize the events on my website and provided me with many details to further my research.

The website contained a descriptive summary of the events of the Shirtwaist Strike of 1909 and its importance it had on labor reforms. I learned briefly of the strike in other sources and began to further my research and came across this website. The site clearly stated what caused the beginning of the strike, the strikers demands, who and what unions participated, and the outcome of the strike. Nelson, Daniel. Shifting Fortunes: The Rise and Decline of American Labor, from the 1820s to the Present. Chicago: The American Ways Series, 1997. Print. A brief description of the work of Francis Perkins was found in this book. Much information did not prove to be directly related to the work in my website, but the information was helpful in guiding my research on the importance this woman placed on developing FIC. This book helped me to further my research on FIC and to understand the importance this organization had on the development of labor reforms.

The site gave me a brief description of the events of the fire and the impact it placed on the American workforce. It also contained an eyewitness account regarding the women who jumped from the ninth floor of the factory. The eyewitness account helped me to understand the impact \the death of 146 innocent employees had on the public and their desire for change to better the American workforce. This site contained an overview of the fire and the labor reforms that followed. Along with giving me information regarding the fire, it led me to many other archives where I was able to find primary source newspaper articles and photographs with captions explaining the events of the Shirtwaist Fire.

This website provided me with a very good understanding of the Federal Investigation Commissions (FIC). This site provided information on the development of the organization, the investigations they completed, the reforms in helped to create. The website explained in detail the importance of the FIC organization and how it led to the creation of several labor laws. "Working Women: The Women's Trade Union League." Reforming Their World: Women in the Progressive Era. National Women's History Museum, 2007. Web. 1 Feb 2013. <http://www.nwhm.org/online-exhibits/progressiveera/workingwomen.html>. This website contained information regarding the Womens Trade Union League (WTUL) and the significance it had with the creation of several labor laws. It also provided me with the history of the union, and its support during the Shirtwaist Strike of 1909. An image of the WTULs seal was also obtained from this site and used in my website.
