Since Ive been at St. Stephens, several people have asked me if anything can be done about the panels above the sanctuary. Two of these grey panels show the outline of the organ speakers which is caused by dust & dirt being blown somehow from the speakers into the grey covering. Deacon Pete spoke with some people knowledgeable about such things & brought back some sample materials which we believe will eliminate the problem. I asked the members of the Parish Council to choose a material that they thought would enhance the look of the sanctuary & they suggested one that is brownish in color & which seems like it would work well for us, so Ive asked Deacon Pete to go ahead & install them. Of course you never know how something will look until its up, but were hoping it will be an improvement from what we currently have. We also have floor tile against the border of the sanctuary which has been cracking due to the shifting of the cement foundation below it. We were able to get some brownish colored tile to replace it which will also provide a nice border around the sanctuary which will aid in alerting people to that step up. Gratefully both of these projects are relatively inexpensive and were glad Deacon Pete has the know-how to provide the labor. Weve purchased some current books on Catholicism & the Documents of the Second Vatican Council which I have placed on the bookshelf in the back of the church. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had asked us to increase our knowledge of Catholicism during this Year of Faith, especially through Vatican II documents & the Catechism. Please feel free to take a book home with you or use one during your Wednesday holy hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament. They look like very well done & interesting books. Again, you are also welcome to borrow a DVD or the book from Father Robert Barrons video series called Catholicism. Its excellent & is suitable for both individual as well as group viewing. Please keep all our sick & homebound parishioners in your thoughts & prayers, especially Joe Pollick who suffered a stroke and is at Akron City Hospital and Joe Pauer who is at Hospice of Medina County. We commend them to the loving care of God during their illness.

Meals & More Volunteers this week: Roman & Sophie Paszt Parish Pastoral Council It is that time of year again to think about nominating parishioners to run for election to our Parish Pastoral Council. Hopefully we have remembered to put the nomination ballots and pencils in the pews this week. All parishioners 18 and over are eligible to participate in the balloting. You may nominate any parishioner 18 years old or older and you may even nominate yourself. The three council members whose terms are ending this spring are Scott McLain, Bonnie Krueger and Evelyn Brodeur. They may all be nominated for a second term. Remember, if you nominate someone for council, it does not mean they have to accept the nomination. DEACON'S CORNER: Today, Tuesday, we are waiting for the big winter storm to hit us. I hope that everyone came through it just fine. If it is still snowing when the weekend comes, I hope that someone will grab a snow shovel and clean a path to the church since I will be of retreat with a group of deacons from our diocese. Monday, March 18th, we will be holding a Red Cross Blood Drive in Hackman Hall from 1:00 - 7:00 PM. I hope that as many people as possible will come to donate blood. Maybe you could do this act of sacrifice as part of your Lenten observance. It is a really great feeling to share the gift of Life that God has given to us. Ladies Guild News Ladies Guild Meeting Monday March 11th at 7 pm in Hackman Hall. We will be voting on the updated by-laws. Copies will be available in the vestibule for your review. The March meeting will also be the elections of our officers. Nominations will be taken up until the meeting and also from the floor. Please consider the skills that God has given you and how you may be able to use them for the benefit of Ladies Guild and St. Stephen Church. Thank you for your consideration.

PSR FOOD DRIVE Our PSR Food Drive keeps going and going. Were keeping track of what type of donations we get, and then sending them right over to the Food Pantry where we have helped many families with food during this cold weather! We are continuing to gather Boxed items from Grades K 5 and Canned items from Grades 6-12. Please bring boxed items to our 4th grade classroom and canned items to the 6th grade classroom. PSR RICE BOWL CHALLENGE Students can drop off change at the PSR Office Round Table. Grades K-5 are in Group A, and Grades 6-12 are Group B. Your generosity not only helps provide for the physical and spiritual needs of those in the region, it also helps provide pastoral care and catechesis that restores the strength of the Church. Our parish will be participating in CRS Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief Services Lenten program, as a way to encounter Jesus through others, especially through the most vulnerable in our world. Rice Bowls were given to the eldest child of each family in PSR. If you didnt receive one or would like to participate, there are a few left on the table between the Gathering Room and the Church.
