2012 Ranking: 42nd Largest Export Market for U.S. Goods (2011: 39th)
The United States is Egypts largest trading partner. A Trade and Investment Framework Agreement was signed in 1999 and a Plan for a Strategic Partnership was signed in 2009 by the United States and Egypt to promote more commercial exchanges. Nevertheless, most likely as a result of the political unrest in Egypt, U.S. goods exports to Egypt in 2012 fell from 2011 figures by 11.8 percent to $5.5 billion worth of goods. During that same period, however, U.S. goods imports from Egypt grew by 45.55 percent from 2011, to $3 billion. Egypts top three export sectors to the U.S. include Oil & Gas (at $1.37 billion), Apparel & Accessories (at $871.81 million), and Chemicals (at $332.45 million). TOP 10 STATES EXPORTING TO EGYPT

The data in this publication are drawn from the U.S. Bureau of the Census using the latest U.S. export information. Export numbers may understate total U.S. exports because county-specific information for some products (e.g., mining, forestry, fishing, and waste and scrap) is not available.
