At Tuesdays Boosters meeting, April 24 at 7 pm at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House: Well have a community discussion about the Parking Meter War of 2012 the good intentions and fatal flaws of the MTAs overreaching plan to jam 5,000 meters onto our neighborhood streets in Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, the Mission and SOMA; the stunning response of thousands of neighbors in protest; the tone-deaf responses by MTA; and their eventual retreat after some deft City Hall advocacy and a well-timed bureaucratic challenge by the Boosters and our allies at the Dogpatch Neighborhood Association. But as anyone following City Halls interest in our neighborhood knows all too well, the MTA is not done with their plans. And more important, they shouldnt be there really is not enough room for everyone to drive to work or class in our neighborhoods and park all day. So our task should be clear: we have an opportunity to create
(and support) a better parking management plan than the MTA did, with better protections for residential parking in

Heres the menu: 5:30 pm - No host bar 7.00 pm - Dinner is served, with complimentary wine Family style appetizers and Caesar salad Choice of entrees: Spring lamb stew on polenta Pine nut-olive crusted Halibut, with fingerling potatoes and asparagus Roast chicken with herb gnocchi, baby vegetables and pan reduction Polenta or risotto with assorted vegetables This is always a fun event, where we install the new years Executive Committee quickly and efficiently (with City Attorney Dennis Herrera doing the honor of swearing us in) and recognize some of the hardest working among us for what they do in our community. Its a great chance to bring a neighbor and show them what the Boosters are all about!
This event sells out every year, and this year, theres only 120 seats available. So we are sure to sell out in advance! Get tickets online at potreroboosters.org. Or, mail your check today to Potrero Boosters Annual Dinner, 1459 18th St. #133, San Francisco, CA 94107. Write the number of reservations requested on your check and include a note with your choice of entree. Tickets are $45 per person in advance. Your ticket will be held at the door. .

In August and September, the MTA will be coming back to Potrero Hill and Dogpatch, seeking a more fine-grained revision of their clumsy parking plan. We have to be ready for them, with better information and better ideas, including parking meters (yes), as well as transit improvements and traffic calming. Join us on Tuesday, and work with us over the summer on this important issue!
Redistricting Victory Potrero Hill stays in District 10

On April 15, the Redistricting Task Force finished its job of re-drawing the Citys supervisorial districts to balance San Franciscos population. This effort happens every ten years, and just like in 2002, the decision regarding Potrero Hill was one of the biggest controversies, with downtown forces pushing to move our neighborhood out of our district. And again, thanks to the work of literally hundreds of volunteers on the Hill, in the district, and across the City, our voices were heard by a remarkably fair-minded task force, and Potrero Hill remains in District 10 with our neighbors in Bayview Hunters Point and Visitacion Valley. Thank you to everyone who spoke up or wrote letters to the Task Force, and Im sure well all have to come back in ten years!

Artists who live, work, or study on Potrero Hill participate in this nonjuried show; it owes its longevity to a group of artists who painted with, or under the tutelage of, the late Charles Farr. In 2006, before the branch closed for renovation, more than one hundred Potrero Hill artists submitted artwork for the show. Come see this years work! The exhibition is open at the Potrero Branch Library from Saturday, May 5 through Friday, June 1, 2012.
