The French Quarter Festival celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year. It was first produced in 1984 as a way to bring residents back to the Quarter; following the Worlds Fair and extensive sidewalk repairs in the French Quarter. More than 2,000 community volunteers help to make the French Quarter Festival a success. French Quarter Festival is the largest, free music festival in the South. The French Quarter Festival has 21 stages throughout the French Quarter celebrates local music and represent every genre from traditional and contemporary jazz to R&B, New Orleans funk, brass bands, folk, gospel, latin, zydeco, classical, cabaret, and international.

New Orleans great restaurants, create the Worlds Largest Jazz Brunch in Jackson Square, the Old U.S. Mint and Woldenberg Riverfront Park during French Quarter Festival weekend. Despite popular misconception, New Orleans is not a Cajun city, though many Cajuns live there. The people, culture and cuisine of New Orleans are Creole, and have a long and distinguished history in the city going back to its founding. Since 1835 the New Orleans & Carrollton Line is the oldest street railway line still in operation. New Orleans was the third largest city in the United States in 1852. French Quarter Guide Page 13

Lisa Victoria Gallery Houses Local Artists

Lisa Victoria is a world renowned sculpture of angels that can be found in private collections across the world! She combines metals like bronze, silver and gold, in conjunction with a carving technique, that creates a reality in every detail. Lisa started creating angels after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was told she had 6 months to live. Before her cancer, she had never sculpted and nor did she have the ability to. She literally woke up one morning and told her husband that she had to sculpt angels. It was from there, that she began to share her talent through her angels. Lisa always feels the message, before the pose of the angel, then just starts right in elbows deep. Every angel brings its own unique message, such as; Perseverance, Faith, and the latest, Hope; that was donated to the NFL sponsored St. Judes Benefit, raising over $25,000 for her favorite charity. Lisa started the Gallery because she felt local artists needed a place on Royal Street to be able to not only display their art, but create it in front of people through interaction. "Its art that is done through a way that develops a true appreciation for the talent it takes to create," she says. The Lisa Victoria Gallery, located at 616 Royal Street, provides a magnificent place where artists are encouraged to share their art with the rest of the world and inspire those who come in. Upon leaving, they know that this place they just left is magical and unique, says local artist Danny Delancy. It affords them the opportunity to take a real piece of New Orleans with them. Lisa represents over 25 local artists whom all come and create in the gallery at various times. Every person that buys a piece of art meets the artist that created it. Lisa is also developing a youth program within the gallery to benefit St Judes. Shes creating a place where local LA youth can place their art for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to St. Judes. It keeps our youth focused on their art and helps children in need at the same time, says Lisa.

Not only was French Quarter Artist Craig Tracy born and raised in New Orleans, he is also one of the most creative personalities you will ever meet.
