    These bullet points are an aide to conducting a risk assessment on MEWPs . The risk assessment needs to be tailored to each site and each scenario.

    Controlling The Risk

    1. Restrict access to lift area by site personnel or barriers to protect third parties or visitors. 2. Vehicle should be used in accordance with manufacturers guidelines. 3. Experienced operator will carry out the work. 4. Use of load spreading devices to ensure firm base for vehicle stabilizers and avoid manhole covers, drain gullies, etc. 5. Make sure there are no overhead obstructions before commencing lifting operation. 6. Hydraulic lift platform is fitted with lock valves and micro switches in case of hydraulic malfunction or operator error. 7. Regular safety checks ensure equipment is in good order. 8. Ensure work area is clear from any materials or debris which could cause injury due to fall or trip. 9. Safety Harness should be worn whilst in cage. 10. Personal Protective Equipment should always be worn.
