Measure ments: We measured various parameters like lengths, arc radii, hole radii using profile projector with the help of lenses with different resolutions. Similar schematic of key with different measurement is shown here:

Conclusions: Circle and Triangle dimensions are accurately measured to understand the measurement procedure. Profile of gear is obtained taking dimensions of different parts. Error can be minimized by choosing more number of input points. Profile Projector can reveal imperfections such as burrs, scratches, indentations or undesirable chamfers which other measuring devices cant reveal. The large Projection help to measure the dimension of very thin plate like key accurately .

Discussion: Advantages of profile projector: Profile projector is high precision measurement machine. It can be used for error analysis of mechanical components at microscopic level. I this experiment we used this machine for finding form error in gear teeth. It gives more accurate readings compared to vernier and micrometre. Dimensions of complex profiles can easily be obtained by magnifying the object. It is a non-contacting method for measurement and hence reduces the chances of error. Easy to install. it really is as easy to set up as a simple television

Disadvantages of Profile Projector: Transportation problem because of large size. Costly compared to conventional measuring devices. Dark environment necessary to clearly see the image. High maintenance is required The limitation of using profile projector as a fixed device forms a disadvantage of it, while instruments such micrometer or callipers can be used to reach for measuring far and joint accessible components
