Philippines Heart Center Visit:
A trip of hope
President and Founder Peter Chhun, along with Cardiologist Dr. 1 Lyda Luy, traveled to the Philippines earlier this month to visit the Philippine Heart Center (PHC). The trip was spent observing the work of the heart center as well as discussing possible collaborations in the future. There is exciting news to come, so please keep updated by following our Facebook page!

Three Year Anniversary:

Socheat Nha
April 21 marks the three-year anniversary of our third heart 2 patient Socheat Nha. In 2010, Socheat underwent a successful heart surgery at Childrens Hospital in Santiago, Dominican Republic. This operation would not have been successful without the expertise of Dr. Rodrigo Soto and his cardiac team from International Childrens Heart Foundation. Socheat has since fully recovered without any complications. To read more about her story, please check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HeartsWit houtBoundaries

Happy Cambodian New Year!

Ring in the Year of the Snake! A new year has begun, and another chapter emerges. It has been busy here on our end while we gather volunteers, resources, and sponsorships to meet the needs of our mission to save lives. However, we are as optimistic as ever as we head on forth to this new year. Children are being saved, and families are being healed. Thank you for taking part in our journey to mend broken little hearts. Whether you have volunteered your time, given a wonderful donation, or just supported us with your thoughts, prayers or viewership, you have all been amazing. We at Hearts Without Boundaries would like to wish you all a warm and prosperous new year.

Liliana Zepeda
HWB Volunteer
Liliana Zepeda is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and a teaching credential in 2011. Liliana was first introduced to HWB in the winter of 2011 while studying abroad in Cambodia. It was through this experience that she learned about congenital heart defects (CHD) and how CHD affected impoverished children and families in Cambodia. She became a volunteer for HWB in order to educate the public regarding these conditions. Since becoming a part of HWB, Liliana has continued to work in the non-profit sector instructing and mentoring school-age children.

Quote of the Month:

Volunteering can be a thankless job, but you do so not for the fame or the fortune, but for something you feel good about; and the beautiful part about it is that you don't need to have a Ph.D. to care, you just need a heart. And my heart is 'without boundaries. - Chantha Bob, Board Member of Hearts Without Boundaries
