A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: (2 sentences) This social studies lesson is designed for 1 st grade students to learn a specific job they would like. This is to explain how people earn money. Day 2 of 3 in careers. B. Target Population: (3 bullet points) Grade Level: 1st grade Skill Level: students of all levels Grouping: whole group then individual C. Materials: (bullet points) books on careers checked out from library pencil and paper construction paper markers or crayons D. E. Procedure: (numbered steps) 1. Go over what we learned yesterday on what people do to earn money. 2. Have students remember which career they chose. Have the mobile out on their desks. 3. Then have them take out a paper and write what they know on the career they chose. 4. Show them the books that are from the library on different careers. 5. Have them pick a book and start going through adding things to their lists.

When they are done, give them nice paper to write out their career and draw a picture. 8. Come back as a group and remind them that career day is tomorrow . 9. CLOSURE: Discuss how these careers and jobs help with earning money. F. Assessment: (bullet points) What will you use to measure student understanding? I would use their lists to measure understanding of the topic. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I would know that the student understood this concept by going through their lists and making sure that they got the right information. G. Reflection: (answers to assignment specific questions) 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? The easiest part to teach would be going over the career they chose yesterday. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? The most challenging part of the lesson would be making sure they get enough information to write clearly on the career they chose. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I would extend this lesson by having them go to a computer lab to do their research. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For the students that don't understand the concept I will be there to lend them a hand. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? The part of the lesson I would want to change is how they do the research. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part in writing this lesson was trying to figure out how to do the research for their careers.
