Co-Presidents Message
Mission: The Delta Kappa Gamma Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Many thanks to our members who have hosted meetings this year. We are very grateful to Midge for her hospitality at our January meeting and to Jennifer who opened her classroom to us for our Make and Take. A Super thanks to Janine for her expert guidance on our project. Thanks also to those who have brought books and instructional materials for the Family Shelter. In addition, we really appreciate all those who contributed to the Non Attendance Tea. Finally, thank you to those who respond to our evites and Beas phone calls in a timely manner. It helps so much to have an accurate count before each meeting. We have planned our meetings this year to focus on the purposes of the Society. Our ice breakers have really hit on Purpose One which is: To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship. We learned about famous women when we played the game of Who Am I? We learned about each other when we shared baby pictures, and we certainly learned a lot about the various countries of Africa and their locations when we had the Schools For Africa ice breaker. Our sunshine committee will provide the ice breaker for the April 17th meeting. As a reminder, its not too late to reach out to a new teacher. There are so many new teachers who would beneOit from our help as experienced c l a s s r o o m t e a c h e r s a n d i t i s a D KG International focus. For those of you who are already supporting another teacher, please be sure to keep track of your THAT hours. The next due date for recording hours is April 1s We hope to see many of you at the Area IV conference on March 9. A Olyer is attached to the newsletter. The program will be One Village at a Time, a group who works with the poorest villages in parts of Africa. This coincides with our International focus on Schools For Africa. We will also be honoring our members, Dr. Wendy Hacke for service to the profession, Jennifer Dixon for service to the chapter, and Gay Southwell for service to the community. We are working hard on marketing our chapter to other educators. Please visit our web site, gammapsionline.net, to see all that we do. We are also working on a chapter brochure that we can hand out to prospective members. At

We can use these great pictures on our brochure. We appreciate all those who work together to make our chapter effective. Have a great spring. Sincerely, Cassie and Toni

In Memoriam

Our deepest sympathy to Marilyn Payne in the loss of her husband, Ronald.. We mourn the loss of two of our Chapter Sisters, Dee Smith and Patti Staats. They will both be honored at the Celebration of Life at the Chi State Convention on Sunday, May 5th.

Each year Chi State gives certiOicates of honor to chapters who meet several criteria of excellence. For the past several years, Gamma Psi has been a Oive star honor chapter. A great part of this has to do with Kathy Elliotts excellence as treasurer and you members great participation. Hats off to Kathy and all of you who make us a FIVE STAR HONOR CHAPTER.

Honor Chapter

Our chapter is required to update the Standing Rules once each biennium. You will Oind a proposed update on the web at gammapsionline.net. It would be super if as many of you as are able would read these proposed rules before our April meeting. If members have read them in advance, we could accept changes and corrections at the meeting and get our rules Oinalized and turned in to the Chi State OfOice. We like to be in compliance and current. Thanks.

If you havent been to convention, you should consider it. It is a great way to meet other members and learn more about the society and the profession. If you want more information, Sharon Uyeda, Jill Bohn, or Toni Cook would be happy to Oill you in on the details of what you might expect. There is even some money in our chapter budget to reimburse you for some of your expense.

Gamma Psi Supports The San Jose Family Shelter

Gamma Psi is involved with two projects to help the San Jose Family Shelter. We are continuing to collect the little books for toddlers for the children at the shelter. When new families arrive, a package of books is placed on the bed. They have plenty of books for older children, but not much for toddlers. We certainly endorse this literacy project. Secondly, there are tutors who come each evening to work with the children. They don't always have materials that are appropriate. Gamma Psi working members are collecting unused copies of worksheets in their buildings to give to the Family Shelter tutors. They have been most appreciative of the materials that I have taken over. I feel this is a very worthwhile project. Jill Bohn
