Administration Module a. System administrator activities: i. How to initialize a domain. ii. How to add users in the user-list. iii. How to create and assign a domain administrator to the domain. b. Domain administrator activities: i. How to set up the plant hierarchy. ii. How to create hierarchy items and define tag loop naming conventions. iii. How to define group and assign rights for group.

c. General Tasks: i. How to open a specific unit in SmartPlant instrumentation. ii. How to define default units of measure and preferences.

Instrumentation Engineering Modules


1. Creating Instruments and control loops: a. How to define data in supporting tables, including instrument type, profiles, P&ID drawing numbers and lines. b. How to create loops and associated tags. c. How to view and edit instrument data using the instrument Index standard browser. d. How to generate and print records.

2. Defining Process data, Performing calculations and creating specifications: a. How to create lines. b. How to define line process data. c. How to define instrument process data for flow elements, control valves etc. d. How to perform instrument-sizing calculations. e. How to generate single-tag and multi-tag specifications that include process data and calculation data. f. How to copy data to specifications. g. How to modify specification pages. h. How to perform revisions on specifications. 3. Performing wiring operations: a. How to create panel-strip-terminal reference items and copy them to plant. b. How to create cable-set-wire reference items and copy them to plant. c. How to assign tags to DCS channels. d. How to design the wiring for specific control loops, including connection type, definition and cross-wiring connections. 4. Generating Loop Drawings a. How to view and modify a loop drawing. b. How display additional data in enhanced SmartPlant drawings by using macros. c. How to change layout settings and include annotations for enhanced reports. d. How to associate blocks with instruments.

5. Generating Hook-Up Drawings. a. How to create hook-up types and hook-ups b. How to add items in hook-up library c. How to assign hook-up items to hook-ups d. How to assign instruments to hook-ups e. How to generate BOM (Bill of Material) f. How to generate hook-up drawings using the Enhanced Report Utility.
