Subject: A Disgruntled letter to Mr. Sharif - Pakistan Elections 2013 Mr. Nawaz Sharif, I will be open & honest because thats how I am. I was truly disappointed to read that PML(N) was the leading party and you were claiming victory in Pakistans 2013 General Election. With all due respect, and I am sure you are aware that the People of Pakistan are protesting all across the country and challenging the Free & Fair elections. Protests are underway in all major cities of the country, including in your own Lahore. For the first time in many years, the people had come out to exercise their fundamental right to vote, in masses and under extremely sensitive conditions. They wanted a true democracy, not forged. Let me admonish any pre-conceived notion you may have, that it does not seem that the will of the people has been established. So, save the jubilations for when you dont abscond to Jeddah and actually deliver on our expectations. Sigh! Hope is the worst of all evil because it prolongs the torments of man. What we saw was manipulation of the highest degree in a very calculated and systematic way, especially in Punjab. Your partys central crony leaders like Khawaja Saad Rafique, who does not know a lion from a tiger, was caught in very compromising situations Shame! There are videos, pictures, testimonies and eye witness accounts of multiple such instances all over the country, due to which and unfortunately so, the fundamental right to vote of the People of Pakistan has been blatantly snatched. No matter how many times he justifies his actions, at least I and many other have discredited him. Jahil! Like all things in Pakistan, these elections issues will be pushed under the rug to make room for a something new, but may I sternly advise you that till still such time that the will of the people is established you should be very cautious of celebrating victory. Things have changed Mr. Sharif. We are not youre your illiterate voters any more, we are well educated Pakistanis. We are aware of our rights and we are not afraid to

exercise them. We have a view of our future and we know what we want. You are there to serve us, as a Servant to the People of Pakistan and we will make you deliver. We do not forget and we take to trial people who desecrate the Supreme Court, we take to task people who abuse their powers to amass wealth, we expose the people who bully bakery owners, we make examples of people who dont pay taxes or their bills and take to court the people who cringe at the feet of their aid givers when the nuclear test happen but never have the intent to pay their own loans. We know where we want Pakistan to be and I warn you Mr. Sharif that gone are the days when looters and plunders could rule us. We have had that for the years and now we are tired, we are frustrated and we want a change. Let me also tell you that we are not without a strong resolve to make things right, no matter what it takes. Having said that, the only people deserving to be congratulated are the People of Pakistan. Praise should only be reserved the People, from all sects of life who have risen, to express their views against all odds to counter the enormous challenges that face us. Jubilations should only for the millions out on the streets today demanding what is rightfully theirs. I will apologize and take the liberty of congratulating them, for their strength and their great resolve for a better Pakistan on your behalf. Adapting from a speech by the worlds most democratic leaders given in Chicago on Nov 2008: If there is anyone out there who still doubts that Pakistan is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, 11th May was your answer. It's the answer told by lines that stretched in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference. It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, disabled and not disabled. Pakistanis who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of states and provinces. We are, and always will be, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day. Drawing strength from the young and the not-so-young, people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy, who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the

millions of Pakistanis who volunteered and organized and proved that more than 60 years later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth. It's been a long time coming, but because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment, change has come to Pakistan. This is our victory. Welcome to power Mr. Sharif. You might have tricked yourself into power, but that was just the easy part. Now you deal with us. Best Regards, An Aware Patriot!
