No 17: Friday 17th May 2013
Dear Parents/Carers
What a testing week it has been J. Many of you will be aware that the last week has seen the majority of the schools taking various tests; with the Year 6 children taking the compulsory national SATs. The children have been focused on doing their best and showing us what they are capable of. I have been particularly impressed by our Year 6 children who have worked tirelessly throughout the week. They have shown such a positive attitude to the assessments and persevered through all the tests. Rarely do you hear children say they are looking forward to a test, but I heard it on numerous occasions this week. Thank you Miss Hill, it is a testament to all your hard work this year that they had such a positive approach. Irrespective of the final outcomes we are extremely proud of our children! As this will be the last newsletter before half term, I hope you have a great break and I do hope that we get to see some more of the sun!

ON THE 25TH JUNE 2013 ALL CHILDREN IN YEAR 3, 4, 5 & 6 WILL BE SWIMMING IN THE ST CHRISTOPHERS SCHOOL SWIMMING GALA AT BRIZE NORTON. PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORMS BELOW AS APPROPRIATE. It is important that all children attend the swimming sessions available to them as the ability to swim is a requirement of the National Curriculum. Children will need a swimming kit, which must include a swimming hat in a suitable bag. Boys must wear swimming trucks, not shorts. Oxfordshire County Councils policy does not allow children to wear goggles. If your child needs to wear goggles they need to be BS 5883:1996 - forms available from the school office if you have not already done so this school year. Please ensure that all watches and earrings are left at home on swimming days. Please note that a letter from a parent is required if a child is to miss a swimming lesson for any reason. Generally, if a child is well enough to be at school then they are well enough to swim.

Help us keep the spread of germs in school to a minimum by following this advice from the NHS.
Active Kids
Many thanks for the vouchers you are sending in. Sainsburys Active Kids will be available to collect until the 22nd May 2013. Please help us to collect as many vouchers as possible as they really do make a difference. The collection box is outside the office.
If your family eats Nestle cereals, please remember to tear off the token on the top of the box and bring it in to school. It takes as little as 10 tokens to get one book so the more tokens we collect the more books we can receive for school. The collection box is outside the office.
BREAKFAST CLUB
If you are having a tidy up over the May half term and come across any unwanted colouring books, puzzles and/or board games these will be greatly appreciated and put to great use at Breakfast Club. Please hand in to the School Office, as appropriate, and as always, thank you for your kind support.
A good range of school clubs will start again after the half term break please see below. We request a voluntary contribution to help cover resources and staff costs. To register your child(ren), please return the reply slip attached
