DESIGN PARAMETERS FOR ARBATA DAM & DIVERSION SCHEME

The Arbata dam is composed of Main Concrete spillway of length 40

at the

Centre with concrete Non flow section to a length of 49 m on right bank and 49 m on left bank. The abutments are connected to flank with earthen dam of length 220 m & 83 m on right and left bank respectively.

The Arbata Diversion Scheme consists of following components: Spillway Non overflow section Earthen Flanks Energy Dissipater system- Type-II stilling basin. Diversion channel

The above components are designed with following input parameters; Concrete Spillway: The design of spillway is based on the flood discharge of 234 cumecs. The crest of the spillway is provided with standard WES profile with u/s 1H:1V slope near the crest in order to improve the discharge coefficient and improve the stability of the spillway. The grade of concrete for the hearting is of M15 (150 & down) and casing being M15 (40 & down). The unit weight of the spillway dam for stability purposes is assumed as 2.4 t/cum & dam is assumed to be resting on good foundable rock.

Following parameters & assumptions are considered for designing of various components of Arbata Diversion Scheme. 1. CONCRETE DAM & SPILLWAY i. ii. iii.
