Meeting Report
The group of participants of the Turkish partner arrived in Xanthi on Monday, 27th May 2013. The Turkish group consisted of the following members: 1. On Tuesday, 28 May, Turkish and Greek partners visited the 2nd Primary School of Chrysoupolis and the Primary School of Panagia on Thassos Island. The Environmental Education Centre (KPE) of Vistonida sponsored the coach which was used for partners transportation. The Greek team consisted of: 1. 2. Ms. Kartsiotou in cooperation with the Headmasters organized the programme of the school visits. The partners arrived at the 2nd Primary School of Chrysoupolis at 9.00a.m. They were welcomed by Ms. Kartsiotou, School Consultant, Mr. Papastergiou, Headmaster, teachers and pupils. Pupils in Thracian gowns welcomed visitors and offered flowers. The partners were guided around the school, entered classrooms and were informed about the use of project-based learning and ICTs for educational purposes. Then, Ms. Eleni KOTZAKIOZI, teacher in the 1st grade, and her pupils made a presentation of the Municipality of Nestos with the use of ICTs: laptops, projector and the interactive board. The same pupils also sang a musical-kinetic song with environmental messages. Later, visitors were transferred to the school auditorium, where they watched folk dances by school pupils and the Association of Thracians. Partners also had coffee and traditional pastries offered by the Municipality of Nestos and the Parents Union. Ms. D. SAMIDOU, General Secretary of the Municipality of Nestos offered Turkish partners a basket with local products and an olive tree, a symbol of peace and fraternization of both nations.

Greek and Turkish partners were transferred to the Primary School of Panagia on Thassos Island and they were welcomed by Mr. Kavazis, Headmaster, teachers and pupils. Visitors were guided around the school and entered classrooms during lessons. In the 6th grade, pupils coordinated by the Headmaster, Mr. Kavazis made a virtual presentation of Thassos Island with the use of the interactive board. Also, the pupils of the 6th grade presented educational software which was produced by the school in the framework of the European programme Safer Internet. The software, which was about awareness raising regarding online risks amongst children, won the 1st European prize. The Turkish partners asked for permission to use this software. Turkish partners were later informed about the projects (on various

subjects) carried out by pupils and they could browse the school editions (booklets, posters etc.) of these projects. Partners discussed with the Headmaster and the teachers at the light lunch which was offered by the Parents Union. Later, everybody gathered in the school yard, where pupils of the 5th and 6th grade danced folk dances and visitors were offered local products. They all had lunch and were transferred to Limenas where they had free time and coffee. In the afternoon, the partners returned to Xanthi and, in the evening, they all dinned in the old town of Xanthi.

On Wednesday, 29 May, the Turkish and Greek partners visited the Archeological site of Philippi and the Environmental Education Centre of Philippi (KPE Philoppon). The Greek team consisted of: 1. Project Coordinator, Teacher of English in Secondary Education, staff of EMTh-RDE, 4. Ms. Eleni TOULIOPOULOU, Director of the Environmental Education Centre of Philippi, 5. Mr. Kiriakos KELIDIS, Vice Director of the Environmental Education Centre of Philippi, 6. Ms. Sofia KARIPIDOU, Primary School teacher, staff of EMTh-RDE, 7. Ms. Ioanna MPENTI, Primary School teacher, staff of EMTh-RDE, 8. Ms. Anatoli KOTAIDOU, Museologist, associate of the Environmental Education Centre of Philippi.

The partners were transferred at the archeological site of Philippi, where they were welcomed by Mr. Kelidis, Vice Director of KPE Philippon, and Ms. Kotaidou, Museologist. The visitors were guided

around the museum and the archeological site and were informed about the educational programmes of the KPE Philippon in relation to the archeological site and the pre-historical rock cravings. Then, the team was transferred to the Environmental Education Centre of Philippi and was welcomed by Ms. Touliopoulou, the Director, and the members of the pedagogical team. Partners were guided around the Environmental Education Centre and discussed with the staff. In the Centres Hall, Ms. Touliopoulou talked about the operation, the aims, the educational programmes, the seminars and the Lifelong Learning activities of the Environmental Education Centre. She presented the major historical monuments and sites of environmental interest of the local area and she explained how they are connected with educational programmes about the environment and sustainability. She also informed participants about the Grundtvig Project that the KPE Philippon is going to run from the next school year. The Turkish partners showed great interest in the institution of the Environmental Education Centers, said that they do not have such structures and expressed their will to establish new partnerships in the field of education for sustainability. Later, everybody had lunch and in the afternoon, the partners were transferred to Kavala. There, Mr. Hatzopoulos guided them in the old town of Kavala and had coffee. The team returned to Xanthi late in the afternoon and at dinner the Regional Director offered gifts to visitors. On Thursday, 30 May, the East Macedonia Thrace Regional Directorate of Education, in cooperation with PEK Alexandroupolis, 6th Primary School of Alexandroupolis, KPE Vistonidas and KPE Paranestiou, organized the Day Event Project-based Learning and ICTs in Primary Education. The day event was hosted by the 13th Primary School of Xanthi and was attended by 140 Primary School teachers. People who were involved in the organization and implementation of the day event: 1.
