RADNOR PRESERVES

Radnor Preserves is enjoying the sweet taste of citrusy success after winning a recordbreaking three gold awards in the eighth annual Worlds Original Marmalade Awards, held in Cumbria earlier this year, and a contract to supply Fortnum & Mason.
The only gold-medal winner from Wales, Joanna Morgan from New Radnor received three of the marmalade worlds most prestigious accolades for its Lime Marmalade, Seville Orange & Crushed Coriander Marmalade and Sicilian Blood Orange Marmalade, scoring the highest marks for their appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour. Radnor Preserves is the first artisan producer to win three gold medals in the same year since the festival began in 2006, thereby showing consistency across the whole range and not just as a one-off, and can now be fairly called one of the best marmalade makers in the world. Nearly 2,000 jars of marmalade from as far afield as Australia, the Czech Republic, the Philippines, Japan and South Africa were sent by both artisan producers and amateur makers to Dalemain Mansion in the Lake District, for judging by an esteemed panel of marmalade experts, including Fortnum & Mason, Pam Corbin and Dan Lepard. To celebrate this success, Radnor Preserves online shop, www.radnorpreserves.com, has now been launched. NOTES TO EDITORS
Radnor Preserves is an artisan producer of awardwinning, exquisite hand-made preserves, and was established in New Radnor on the Welsh Borders by Joanna Morgan in 2010. Joanna started making preserves when she lived in a house without any electricity. This extraordinary apprenticeship, based on time-honoured and traditional values, has inspired her exquisite recipes, and has given her preserve-making a very different understanding of the craft and approach, to that of one who uses electricity, artificial light and refrigeration. After winning a number of prizes in 2009 as an amateur at the World Marmalade Festival and at the Royal Welsh Show, the largest agricultural show in Europe, and in answer to growing public demand, Joanna did some trials at farmers markets with a determination that the presentation of the jars should reflect the high quality and wonderful flavours inside. Such was the success of these trials, she launched her company, Radnor Preserves, in January 2010. The sophisticated, contemporary packaging, which features an evocative image of the Welsh hills, is designed by Wayne Summers, and the company was shortlisted to the final three of the Powys Business Awards for Excellence in Food Manufacture within the first six months of trading. In 2011 a review, following the Taste of London show, heralded Radnor Preserves as a future household name; the Welsh Assembly Governments website called the company a firm familiar favourite within 18 months of trading; and Radnor Preserves was awarded overall Third Prize in the World at the inaugural World Chutney Festival in Scotland for its Roasted Nectarine Chutney, judged by an impressive panel which included Henrietta Green and Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall. In 2012, Radnor Preserves won three Artisan Awards at the World Marmalade Festival and two Gold Star Great Taste Awards. Joanna created an exclusive Diamond Jubilee Jelly that was served to the Queen on her tour to Wales at a special lunch on the Glanusk Estate; and Mary Berry was impressed by the style and presentation at Chris Evans CarFest in aid of Children in Need. In 2013, the companys reputation was consolidated by the three Gold Medals won at the World Marmalade Festival and now supplies Fortnum & Mason, the National Trusts Powis Castle, and Llangoed Hall Hotel with marmalade for their breakfast menu. Radnor Preserves created a special Hay Festival Marmalade for this years Festival, which received the following accolade: "Your products are very, very beautiful and delicious and make a special contribution to the Festival Shop. Radnor Preserves website, www.radnorpreserves.com, also designed by Wayne Summers, continues this emphasis on beautiful aesthetics and high quality customer experience. The online shop launches 30 June 2013 and the first 50 orders will receive a free gift of a new invention, Pimms & Mint Jelly. Ends 26 June 2013
