Intel is very pleased and would like to congratulate the 50 excellent female students on winning the Scholarship this year. This is the continuation of Intels committement to engineering education and training over the years, stated Ms. Ho Thi Thu Uyen, Public Affairs Manager of Intel Products Vietnam.

Ms. Le Bao Thoa, HR Director of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam shared her thoughts: With the goal to stay committed to sustainable development in Vietnam, Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam has been investing in Vietnamese talents, creating new jobs, building infrastructure and so on. In

cooperation with AmCham and Intel, ACWES is part of our community activities. Through the Program, we hope to produce good conditions to study for students, especially female engineering students. After graduation, those ACWES Scholars with high academic performance would be regarded as candidates for relevant positions at Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam.

Mr. Herb Cochran Executive Director of AmCham Vietnam said AmCham recognizes the increasingly important role of women in science and engineering in modern times. Over 100 years ago, Madame Marie Curie was an exception when she won the Nobel Prize for Physics (1903) and then later for Chemistry (1911). In recent times, women have become important resources for science and engineering, and companies, universities, and governments encourage their participation. Recently, Dr. Rita Colwell, the U.S. Science Envoy for South and Southeast Asia, visited Vietnam both to promote cooperation in scientific research between Vietnam and the United States and to encourage more girls and women to participate in math and science from the earliest school years through to the Ph.D. level. She was the Director of the U.S. Natural Science Foundation, an independent U.S. federal agency with an annual budget of about $7.0 billion, which is the funding source for about 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. In many fields such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences, NSF is the major source of U.S. Government support.
