October 8, 3 PM, Loring-Greenough House, Judith Conrad (fortepiano and recorder) with Mike Shand (baroque ute) Music of Blavet, Cabanilles, Telemann, Hummel, Beethoven and Vaughan Williams A program showcasing the Loring-Greenough House with its 1790s parlor piano and its comfortable intimate seating. Featured will be a sonata by the eighteenth century French ute virtuoso Michel Blavet, solo keyboard works of Valencian organist Juan Baptista Cabanilles and some Beethoven settings for piano with ute accompaniment of music from the British Isles. November 5, 3 PM, Loring-Greenough House, The Quilisma Consort La Caccia: Canons, Fantasias, Fugues, and Other Musical Chases An exploration on recorders of all kinds of imitative polyphony from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, including 14th-century Italian caccias and madrigals, 15th-century instrumental consort music, 16th-century fantasias, and Jacobean fugues. Works of Ciconia, Landini, di Lasso, Josquin, van Eyck, and others. Lisa Gay, Carolyn Jean Smith and Melika M. Fitzhugh, recorders. December 2, 8 PM, Friends Meeting House The Heliotrope Consort A program exploring the German-Italian connection, featuring works in both styles, including cantatas for recorder and chamber works for recorders and continuo. It will showcase the recorder in a variety of ensembles and combinations, in lively and exciting repertoire. January 7, 3 PM, Loring-Greenough House Steve Tapper with John Tyson and Shelley Otis Unexpected Repertoire: world folk music, jazz, popular music, and Steve Tappers original compositions on recorders, utes, bass guitar and harp. February 4, 3 PM, Loring-Greenough House Cameraderie (Sonja Lindblad et al.) March 3, 8 PM, Friends Meeting House Ensemble Amarynthis Sonata: Que me veux tu? Paris in the 1720s. Music by Boismortier, Marcello, Leclair, Corelli, and Dieupart. (Hlose Degrugilier and Mara Virginia Rolfo) April 14, 8 PM, Friends Meeting House Pentimento Just a Couple of Song & Dance Men Gorgeous chansons and lively dances of 16th century France (with a few sublime dances and upbeat songs thrown in for variety). Works may include Oncque amour, Doulce memoire, Susanne ung jour, and dances from the Phalese anthologies. April 28, 8 PM, Friends Meeting House Renaissonics, John Tyson, director Renaissance Chamber Music Glorious, rarely heard masterpieces from the ages of Leonardo, Michangelo, and Shakespeare, including FrancoFlemish polyphony from the Odhecaton, virtuoso diminutions, Elizabethan fantasias, and 17th century Italian sonatas. Works of Josquin, Palestrina, Morley, Gibbons, Baldwin, Cima, Merula (and of course Renaissonics famous improvisations).
