This city country band is hearkening back to the classic days of country, re-imagining songs by Merle Haggard, Earl Scruggs, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ernest Tubb and the Texas Troubadours, Bob Wills, Tanya Tucker and Hank Williams. Raw, honest and from the heart, Shotgun Wedding takes a unique approach to a time-honored genre. Oh, and no bones about being a country band from NYC. No cowboy hats or western style suits here ... The band has appeared in films and at performances in Atlantic City. Famous for featuring one or more jazz greats from the swing era, the current band features Sol Yaged, who remains one of the finest clarinet players in the country, having played with Benny Goodman, Harry James, and Louis Armstrong, to name a few. Steve Little (drums) comes from the Duke Ellington Band, and pianist Herb Gardner comes from the Eddie Condon Band. Linda Ipanema is the guest vocalist.
