FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after

...

Chapter 1
Anjali was starting to hate Shyam, her husband and she hated herself for that; the guilt was torturing her but she had no control over it. It must be the hormones messing me up' she thought because even the sight of him disgusted her. She was doing her level best to ignore him, would gladly agree if he wanted to go somewhere. At least that way she wouldn't have to feel guilty about wanting to get rid of him. What the hell is wrong with me? He loves me so and I hate him. Just then Shyam entered the room. "Rani sahiba, shukr hain aap mil gyn! Wo hm aap sy kehna chahty thay k' Hm aaj aap k saath pooja ma nahi ja saktay, humay aik kam sy zaruri jana hai." Oh thanks God! Anjali thought. "Oh' theek hai hm nani ko saath ly jyn gy" she replied. Wow, that wasn't difficult, she agreed! Shyam was surprised but relieved to hear that. Bs Khushiji ab bs aap sy milna hai, aaj hum aap k sary sawalon k jawab dy dyn gy. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi was sitting in her room. Her husband Arnav Singh Raizada (ASR) was at work. A pool of thoughts was running through her mind. How could it all go wrong, everything was perfect and then' he had forced her to marry him, he had suddenly changed and then' why had he said she had hurt him' she would never ever hurt him'she loved him but he was doing his best to make her hate him.. Why? Was it because she didn't tell him about her and Shyamji' did he doubt her? Should she tell him the truth? But she couldn't bear the thought of hurting him; even after all he'd done to hurt her. The truth would hurt Anjaliji and Anjaliji was the only one whose happiness meant the world to him' "Khushiji' Aap aa rahe hain?" Anjali called from downstairs. Khushi snapped to her senses. "Ji Anjaliji hum aa rahy hain!" she yelled back. Thoughts still running through her mind like a whirlpool, as she walked downstairs. Anjaliji, Naniji, Mamiji and Payal were waiting for her downstairs. "Chalain Khushiji?" Anjali asked sweetly when Khushi came downstairs. Khushi nodded. "Harri prekashji, darwaza band kr lain ghr py koi nahi hai." Anjali said as they all left the Raizada Mansion for pooja. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

While everyone busy preparing for pooja Khushi's mind was racing. She could not bear the thought of Arnavji hating her for something she hadn't done. She had to tell him the truth; it might not be the reason for his hatred but at least she'll have no secrets with him. But when? Now was the best time she could call him home and have a detailed conversation'no one would be home except for them because the pooja was going to last a few hours' Devi maiya help me! Make this easy for me' I'm so sorry I have to run away from pooja but it's the only chance I'll get to corner him alone' she thought. "Anjaliji humain zaruri ghar jana hai abi." Khushi said. "Par Khushiji abi tou pooja shuru bhe nahi hui or hm abi tou ghr sy ayn hain." "Jantay hain Anjaliji magr hamara jana bht zaruri hai, abhi." "Sb theek tou hai na, Khushiji?" "Ji, sb thek hai." "Umm' chalain phr aap driver k saath wapis chali jyn or haan hari prekashji sy kehyay ga wo nani ka daba nikal k un k kamray main rakh dyn, nani hamesha pooja k baad usay kholti hain" "Ji Anjalaji". With that, Khushi left the mandr. I'll call the Laad Governer as soon as I get home to call him over. Deep in thoughts Khushi did not notice Shyam hiding behind the mandr wall; he had followed her to the pooja and now he was following her back home. Khushiji, humary kehay begair he aap ny humary dil k baat rani shaiba sy keh di' haan aap ka ghar ma hona bht zaruri hai, abi, khun k hum ny aap k lia aak surprise rakha wa hai, he laughed in his mind as he followed Khushi's car back home. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' As soon as she got home Khushi yelled "Hari Prekashji!" "Ji khushiji" Hari Prekash appeared. "Naniji ka daba un k kamray ma rakh dyn' hm zaruri kam sy apnay kamray ma ja rahy hain, Arnav ji ayn tou unhen upper be dejyay ga." "Ji Khushiji" Khushi went upstairs. After ten minutes of pacing about and convincing herself, she decided to call him. 'Call him Khushi , you can do this' everything's going to be fine,' she told herself and reached for the phone when the door burst open. She turned around and to her shock it was SHYAM. "AAP!" she exclaimed, heart hammering. She took a deep breath, "App jyn yahan sy, humain aap ki koi baat hain sunni!" But Shyam wasn't going that easily; he had been planning to corner Khushi for ages and today was his day. He finally had her alone, all to himself.

"Khushiji," He smiled, tilting his head a little, his voice sweeter than ever and his eyes transfixed on her. Khushi felt dirty, ravished by his lustful gaze, his dirty intentions shining his dark eyes. "Ghabrayay mat, aap ghar pr akeli nahi hain. Hari Prekashji ko kam sy bahr jana para magr' Hm hain na" His voice was low and sweet and so scary, it sent chills through Khushi's spine. This is bad ' Omg!!! No one's home' Arnav Ji! Khushi's heart felt ready to burst out of her chest, it was beating so hard. Shyam took a step forward. "Arnav nay aap sy shadi ki' magr kiun? Aap nahi janti na' aap ny humain khud bataya tha holi py' yaad hai na?" he gloated. Khushi was too scared to move. Shyam took another step closer to her. "Aur wo aap ko apni Patni nahi manta dil sy' warna wo aap ko poolside py kiun sonay dyta? Usnay tou Suhag honay ka haq he nahi aada keya 'Magr Khushiji hm hain na' hm aap ko btain ge k Pati honay ka matlb kya hota hai." "Ap kya Bakwas Kr rahy hain!" That's it! Khushi had heard enough. "Aap abi isi waqt hamray kamray sy bahr jyn warna'" "Warna kya Khushiji?" Shyam cut her off. With that, he grabbed her arms and started shaking her. "Warna kya Khushiji? Aap Rani shaiba ko bata dyn ge? Arnav ko btayn ge? Aary aaj k baad tou wo aap ki taraf daikhna bhe nahi chahay ga!" He yelled. He was gripping her so tightly that it hurt, her eyes filling with tears. Worse, she couldn't move. "Hum aap sy pyaar krtay hain Khushiji... aap nay humain pagal kr deya hai, hm aap ko hamesha kehty thay magr aap Rani sahiba ko ly kr hm sy khafa ho gyn' or phr Arnav' Khushiji aap hamari muhabat ka imtihan ly rahi theen na?" His voice lowered again and his grip on her loosened a little. Khushi took advantage and pushed him with all her strength, running out of the door. Shyam wasn't expecting that, she had caught him completely off guard. He recovered quickly though and ran after her. She was on her way to Anjaliji's room so she could lock herself until everyone gets home when Shyam caught up with her. He jerked her back, ripping her shirt in the process. Still she ran and hid behind the first open door she found. But Shyam wasn't giving up that easily either. He was looking around for her. A few steps away, she could see the door to Anjali's room. But Shayam was too close and she dared not move. Her body was quaking with fear. "Khushi" he yelled. "Ma janta hum aap yahen hain' mujay aap ki kushbu aa rahi hai!" Chills ran through her spine; she closed her eyes. Arnav Ji where are you??? I need you here' Devi Maiya help me!!! '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Arnav threw another file away, not even bothering to open this one up. He'd been doing the same all day ' he had nothing else to do. Everything had been handled before Aakash's wedding so that he would be free to attend to his brother's wedding but he had to escape Khushi's presence or he would lose whatever was left of his mind. Though today had shown him how wrong he was. No matter what he did, no matter where he went, his thoughts always circled back to the same, annoying topic with her annoying eyes and annoying smile and annoying everything. What the hell am I doing, thinking about her? I should be hating her, not thinking about finally setting our troubles aside and falling in love' no, not love, in like with her. Easier said than done, though. He knew he should hate her; she had betrayed him and his sister and there was no way he could forgive her. But' He ran a hand through his hair in frustration and threw his head back, closing his eyes. This has to stop' I must stop this! She doesn't love me and there isn't anything between us. Part of him knew he was being too harsh on her; he could've given her a chance to justify herself. But suspecting she didn't love him was something he could live with; knowingthat she didn't would destroy him. Better be harsh and make her hate him. That way, he wouldn't be tempted and she wouldn't be hurt' too much. Yeah, that it' his eyes were still closed, his mind dwelling on these grim thoughts when he heard Khushi say, right in his ear, her voice frightened, Arnavji, where are you? He jerked upright, glancing around. What the'? I must be losing my mind! The fright in her voice wouldn't leave him, plaguing his mind until he was ready to pull his hair out and he threw down everything, donning his coat and hurrying back home. I'll just spy on her, see if she's okay' she doesn't even need to know I'm home. Yeah, that'd work.

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 2
Anjali was praying' the hatred for her husband was making her consider different things' she was going crazy, she had always loved him. She remembered how she had cried with her Mangal surta broke but now she was thinking it might be a sign, maybe Devi maiya wanted to show her that Shayam was no longer'SNAP OUT OF IT! "Humain maaf kr dejiyay, hm inn k baray mai galat sochnay lg paray han, ajeb ajeb khyalaat aa rahay hain humary dil ma" she prayed out loud enough so she could hear herself.

She wasn't sure what was going on, she was trying hard to feel guilty but' Hormones' Definitely hormones! She assured herself. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Arnav reached home, the front door was already open and the house was unusually quite'yeah the pooja he remembered. "Harri prekash" he yelled. No reply' Arrhhe decided to go upstairs and to check if Khushi was home'what if she is home and I get caught' yeah, I forgot my files. His bedroom door was open, inside the carpet was folded as if someone was dragged, a glass lay broken on the floor what the... what happened? Where's Khushi? Arnav ran outside to check other rooms' Khushi where are you dammit. Naniji's room was empty, next Aakash's room' still nobody. "Khushi!!!" he yelled as he walked out of Aakash's room towards Anjali's room. He heard muffled sounds as if someone was hitting their feet on the floor. The door was closed Arnav reached for the knob Please Khushi be in there and be okay.He was not expecting the sight that awaited him. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Shyam had tied Khushi on a chair in Anjali's room and stuffed her mouth with cloth. "Hum kabhi aasa nahi krna chaty thay Khushiji magr aap nay humain majboor kr deya... Aray hum aap ko takleef hain dyn gy' aap ko bht maza aay gy jb hm aap sy farig hon gy" he smiled at her. Khushi was too shocked to respond'Shayam had found her behind the door and she had again escaped to her room but he had caught up with her. He had manhandled her because she was not coming and had pulled her hair and dragged her from her room; in her struggle she had broken the vase on her side table. Tears rolled down her cheeks. "Khushi ji abi ro k humara dil na kharab karain" Shyam said as her tried to remove the tears off her face but she pulled away disgusted and started hitting her feet on the floor struggling to get free. "aap aram sy nahi manain ge kya? Hamain gusa na dilayay Khushiji" with that he leaned down to kiss Khushi's neck But just then the door to the room burst open. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Every bone in Arnav's body was wanted to tear Shyam to pieces, how dare he touch Khushi...HIS KHUSHI! BAMN! Arnav had Pulled Shyam hair and Punched his face with all his might, it all had happened much too fast for Shyam to react. BAMN! Another punch before Shyam could regain his consciousness to what was happening.

"KHUSHI' MERI'PATNI'HAI" Arnav Barked sounding so dangerous that it sent chills down a half unconscious Shyam and BAMN! Arnav had punched him so hard straight on the mouth that it broke a few teeth and Shyam fell unconscious on the ground. I'm going to Kill you bas***d with my bare hands how Dare YOU!!! HOW DARE YOU TOUCH KHUSHI!!!! Khushi' "Khushi" Arnav said out loud turning to her. Poor Khushi was tied to her chair, still in her shocked state, tears rolling down her cheeks, she was not sure if it was a dream or had Arnavji actually rescued her from the DOG! Arnav untied her, got the cloth out of her mouth .I'm definitely going to KILL HIM for manhandling MY WIFE! Then he kneeled down beside her. "Khushi" he said, his voice sweeter than ever. "Khushi, tm theek ho? Are you alright?" he reached out and touch her arm. Khushi trembled and jerked at his touch ' She was too afraid, she was not sure if it really was HER ARNAVJI or was it just a dream. Arnav figured what must be going through her mind so he started to reassure her. "It's me' Arnav, Khushi I'm not going to hurt you' Look here" he held his hand up to show her. "I'll not touch you if you don't want me to, but you need to get up". Khushi stared blankly at him. Arnav's mind was going crazy; I'll rip you to pieces Shyam' My own wife is afraid of me because of you' How could have I left her with that Dog!!!! "Khushi'" Arnav said softly. He had to do something; he had to assure her that it was HIM and not SHYAM. He cupped her face and stared straight in her eyes. "Khushi'" Her eyes met his and the connection between them glowed to its fullest' *Rabba Ve* she knew it was him' Arnavji' her Arnavji had come to rescue her but she was too weak to respond or say something out loud she just stared at him, tears poured out of her eyes. Arnav knew she had recognized him. "Sb theek ho jy ga... I'm here" he said softly wiping the tears off her eyes. He knew she was in shock and he had to calm her down. "Khushi..." he took her hand in his and helped her to her feet so he could carry her to the bedroom. Khushi was hurt, Shyam had manhandled and her entire body ached. Arnav saw the ripped shirt from the back. "What the'Khushi did he do that to you? tumhen us ny zaida zoor sy to.." Arnav stopped midway because Khushi was shaking of fear. Arnav took off his coat and put it on her to cover her. "Khushi' its okay, mai hoon idr" he said reassuring her that everything's going to be fine. He threw a deadly look at the unconscious Shyam on the floor; You better be dead or its going to get really painful for you. Then he lifted Khushi and carried her in his arms to the bed room. She needs to lie down and rest until she feels well enough to talk. On their way out of Anjali's room Arnav kicked the unconscious Shyam, I'll deal with you soon bas***d.

Khushi felt safe in his arms, he always held her as if she was a porcelain doll who'd break if not handled with care. They reached their room, Arnav gently lied Khushi down on the bed but she sat instead. She still wasn't talking or reacting much, although tears were still dripping silently out of her eyes. This sight of her tears was killing Arnav, he hated to see her in pain and cry. "Khushi'" he said again wiping tears off her face as he sat beside her. " sab theek ho jy ga' ma pani lata hun". He was about to get up when Khushi put her head on his chest and started crying really hard. "Khushi'Khushi" Arnav felt helpless, She was sobbing really hard. "Khushi talk to me please' tell me everything' kia huwa?" he put his arms around her protectively. "Hum'Hum'aap" she spoke between her sobs "aap ko'batanay aa rahy thy'hum aap sy poochna chahaty'.k k aap hum sy naraz thy'kia ap ko lgta hai k'k'hum aap ko dhoka day rahy they'." She was sobbing so hard but Arnav could clearly hear what she was saying; he felt numb but he had to hear it all. "Hum' anjaliji sy 'pooch kr ghar aay they takay aap ko '. Ghar bula lain'or aap'ko 'sb bta dain' k '."She hiccupped then continued "k'wo'Shh'Shh...Shayamji..." she shook in his arms with fear "'ny humain dhoka dy k' hm sy' sagai ki' or'or wo'buaa'buaaji k ghar ma rehny lagay'" What the'Arnav could not believe his ears, he was cursing himself inside I should have known, he tricked her' "..Phr jb humain pata laga 'k wo Anjaliji k'. tou hum ny... sagai tor de'. Hum ' aap ko batanay' lagay' pr phir'ap perashan ho jatay' or anjaliji' wo unn sy bht' bht'pyaar krti hain' wo toot jatein' hm ny...Sh Shh Shyamji'" She shook in his arms but continued "...ko dhamki lagai' k hum aap ko bta dain gy'agr wo baaz na ae'magr phr jiji k shadi py' hm aap sy milnay chat py'.pr wo aagy'" Khushi was sobbing as she went on about how, when she wanted to tell Arnav, they got married in a hurry. Arnav's head was spinning, how could he have ever doubted her, he was regretting every single move he'd made. I should have asked her' But I thought she didn't love me'It's all my fault. "' or itnay gusay ma thay hum kesay batatay'" she sobbed I should have known, how could have trusted that SNAKE over HER! He was annoyed with himself, the whole world around him shook; her words were hitting him hard. Khushi went on about the rest of it to how she came home today and how no one was home except hari prekash. "' hari prekashji ko kaha k aap ko upper bej dyn' hum aap ko phone krnay walay they' Jb wo." she chocked over her sobs. "'humaray baal kenchay or kameez bhe' or itni zoor sy' humain band diya'or hum aap ko bula rahy thay'" she finished sobbing harder than ever. Curse you Arnav Singh Raizada how could you be so wrong, you hurt her when she needed you the most' yet she still cared, I don't deserve her. Arnav hugged Khushi tighter reassuring her that he was with her. "Khushi'" He said softly "don't worry' ab sb kuch thek ho jy ga I promise." In his mind Arnav went on it better be, I hurt you and now I'll fix this, I'll fill your world with the happiness you deserve.

He sat there hugging her for what seemed like ages until Khushi had stopped crying and fallen asleep in his arms. She looked like a really beautiful doll sleeping peacefully, he gently stroked her hair his mind far off in thoughts How could I'how will I ever make it up to her? and what about Shyam'what'll I say to De?...No, No I don't care if it hurts De' she needs to Know the truth, I won't let her an inch near the DOG! He looked down at Khushi who lay in his arms *Rabba Ve* She's so beautiful'So...Perfect and Peaceful. Arnav leaned down and kissed her on the cheek softly, he always felt like he'd break her if he touched her a little harder, she was too fragile'I'll make it up to you Khushi, I promise'I hope you forgive me' I can never forgive myself for all the pain I've caused you'I'm so sorry Khushi, I really am Sorry. He wiped the tear that had formed in his eye No! Not until you've done as much as she has for you. He laid her on the bed. I have to go take care of that jerk in De's room, he wanted to leave but Khushi was holding on to his shirt collar unconsciously. He smiled, loosened her grip, kissed her hand and then laid it beside her. "I'll be right back" he said softly to the sleeping Khushi. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 3
"Yeah

Akash it's me, I'm staying home today' yeah everything's fine, yeah see you tonight." Arnav got off the phone as he shut the door behind him, Khushi was asleep inside. He headed off to Anjali's room. Oh yeah you better be dead Shyam he thought to himself as he entered Anjali's room. What the'Arnav looked around. There was no one in the room, the chair and ropes were on the floor as he'd left them, the bed sheets crumpled. "Harri prikash" he yelled. "Je Arnav babu" Harri prikash hurried upstairs to where Arnav stood. "Kahan they tm? Where were you?" Arnav asked sternly. "Hum Anjali didi ki champi k lia tail lene gy thy, Shyam babu ny kaha tha foran sy jaon" he replied. That freak! Arnav snarled in his head. "tm ny daikha hai Shyam ko? Where is he now?" he asked."Nai Arnav babu hum tou abhi abhi ghar ayn hain" he replied. Arnav noticed his eyes move around the room. "Hmm' Acha, clean this room before De's home and make sure these'" he said pointing at the chair, ropes and the sheets "' ye apni sahi jagay py hon... or han'" he added sternly "' De ko iss baray my kuch na pata chaly, Do I make myself clear?" he said raising an eyebrow dangerously. Harri Prikash swallowed then nodded. Arnav left the room to check the house for Shyam' Where'd he go? He walked about the house finding no trace of Shyam the hell!Arnav was going back upstairs when Anjali and rest of the family got home.

"Chotay...?" Anjali looked at him confused. "tum ghar jaldi? Sb theek tou hai?" "Oh good you're back De, yeah sb thek hai, wo bs Khushi'" he cut off midway, Should I tell her right now, but Anjali cut him off "Oh haan Khushiji nay kaha tha unko zaruri jana hai, wo kahan hain?" "Aaa' De wo upper soo rahi hai, she's a little tired" he replied casually, Anjali Blushed. She and nani exchanged embarrassed looks. Payal got all red and mami ji went on "Hello hi bye bye' Arnov bitwa tum ghar o phati sair ki khatr'" she cut off midway as if she realized something then got all embarrassed. Arnav was confused. "Umm' thek hai chotay" Anjali smiled all awkwardly. Why are they acting all blushy? He thought OH, it hit him' they think Khushi and I'wow. He felt his cheek glow red. He shook his head to himself and was on this way upstairs when he heard Anjali "je nani, inn ka phone aya tha abhi' wo keh rhay they k unko case ki wajay sy foran jana parha'" "magr anjali bitya damadji wapsi kb aayn gy?" Nani asked. ".. pata nahi nani, ye keh rahy thy k shid is dafa inn ko zaida din wahan rehna paray'or'" she smiled then continued "'ye keh rahy thy k iss dafa wo humain apnay saath apnay ghar ly jyn gy." What the' "What the'" Arnav could not resist himself "No De you're not going anywhere'" but Anjali's cut him off, "Relax chotay, pehly innhen ghar tou anay do phir decide karna." "Its decided De, you're not going anywhere. JEJAJI'" he felt his teeth grind, "'ko mai handle kr lunga". Anjali shook her head smiling Chotay bhe na, she thought. Arnav went upstairs. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''. Anjali was finally in her bedroom all alone, she needed some private time because the time spent at Pooja had driven home the fact that she really needed Shyam gone. She had not complained when he told he had to leave all of a sudden She had actually felt relieved to hear that, it meant she didn't had to see his face for sometime which was what she wanted. Maybe when my Mangal sutra broke it meant' WHATS WRONG WITH YOU ANJALI? C'mon now he Loves you' but why does it feels like he doesn't anymore'Why do I hate him? Why does it feels like he's not what he used to be? Why do I feel like I'm looking at a snake when I see him' he disgusts me! SNAP OUT OF IT' Hormones'. Yeahh!!! Hormones. She took deep breaths as she lay down and fell asleep. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Arnav was at the poolside, gardening. It was his favorite past time especially when he was doing the thinking and boy did he have some thinking to do. Khushi was still asleep, though it was almost twilight now. He had turned off the lights and shut the door so she wouldn't get disturbed. Flashbacks off the day ran through his mind; the day had gone by so fast, so much had happened and he still had so much to do.

Hats off to you Arnav Singh Raizada! For a man who claims to make his own destiny, you sure did a good job of completely destroying it! Disgustedly, he snipped off a bud, his anger lending him extreme focus. How could you have been so wrong? You tell Khushi she doesn't have a brain' where did your brain go, huh? Argh, I'm disgusted at you' It occurred to him that addressing himself in third person was probably a sign of impending madness but that didn't bother him too much. Sanity, apparently, wasn't a well suited arena when dealing with his'PATNI. He couldn't forget the fear on Khushi's face as Shyam leaned over her, getting his filthy hands on her delicate arms. If he was not wrong, she probably had bruises' she is so delicate, so easily bruised and that sonofabitch'. He cut off several stalks, noting vaguely that he was destroying the plant but too angry to care. I've been wrong about her from the start. I should learn NEVER to trust my head where she's concerned. How could have I thought she was playing me? How could I even think she was having an affair with Shyam? She respects the bonds of marriage too much to even contemplate such a thing. She must've been heartbroken when she found that her fianc was a married man. He remembered her broken sobs when she'd told him. Sighing, he threw his head down, arms resting the shears against the pots. And look what I made her do' His mind flashed back to his wedding, if you could call what he did that. There was no ceremony involved, he'd just forced her into wedlock'to punish her. Face it Raizada, it had less to do with saving De and more with punishing her for her crimes' crimes she never committed. 'Nafrat karte hain hm ap se, nafrat!!!' Khushi's words played over and over in his head, making it spin. No wonder she hates me so. When did I ever do right by her? The first night he'd met her, he'd suspected her of luring him on purpose, blaming his attraction to her on her vile plans. And he'd been wrong. His actions had uprooted her family, forcing them move from Lucknow to Dehli. He put her life in danger, almost killing her, because he was too angry at her for tempting him' which she never meant to, you idiot. She's too innocent to go about playing coy' and he'd repeatedly insulted her, taking advantage of her family's situation to bribe her into working for him, even though it chafed against her pride. And don't forget the time you almost kissed her, his inner voice reminded him, sounding suspiciously sarcastic. Youplayed her' it was obvious your words would break her and what did you do, huh stud? Yeah, that's right' you told her it meant nothing, that she meant NOTHING! And then you forced her to marry you, using her sister's wedding to bribe her once again. Damn you Arnav Singh Raizada! Everyone she cared about, everyone she loved rejected her because of you.

He remembered, clear as day, how her mother had slapped her on finding her standing like that, wearing mangal sutara and sundhoor, how she'd run after them, calling them and apologizing. Despite all that, she STILL cared enough that she didn't tell you because she was afraid it would hurt you! And all that time you were too afraid to confront her' fearing she would tell you she really hated you' or worse, loved Shyam. Angrily, he threw down the shears and when that wasn't enough, he threw down a pot. A large one that made a lot of noise. It didn't make him feel any better. If anything, he felt worse because along with the mess he'd created with Khushi, he now had to clean this one up. 'Nafrat karte hm ap se, nafrat! Ghin aati hai humain ap se'' Ghin to mjhe bhe a rahi hai' he thought, picking up the soil. He always believed in taking action... in doing something to make things right, it was what he did' There must be something I can do'he couldn't just stand and do nothing. He'd hurt her so many times, for the wrong reasons, and now, she'd almost been raped. He had failed to even provide her the protection being his wife entailed. I put her in this mess; I'll pull her out of it. There is only one thing left to do' His heart suddenly lurched inside his chest'DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK' Oh shut up, you couldn't have spoken up sooner, could you? You left me to figure all that on my own'you have no right to hurt' not until you've suffered at least as much as hers probably did with all those times I did her wrong' It didn't matter how hard his heart hurt him (hear that, De? Your Chotay is talking about his heart') he had to correct things. It might break him but he would be doing the right thing. Finally. I'll divorce her. She never wanted to live with me; I forced her into it, making her endure the censure of her family. Instead of a marriage, I gave her a sham' for someone who cherishes the wedlock as much as she did, it must be sacrilege. And she hates me' after all that, I'd hate me' Yup, there's a recipe for divorce' so, yeah, that's it' oh, and I'll apologize' probably. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after

Sorry for the late post, was busy, I hope you guys enjoy it :) Chapter 4

Khushi was sitting by the poolside wearing a backless yellow sari; she was looking in the pool waiting for her Arnavji. The sun shone on her reflecting beautifully off her, making her already glowing skin shine. She smiled to herself as she heard the door open and footsteps. I'll pretend I didn't hear him coming, I'm sure he's going to love this sari. Suddenly she felt a pair of warm hands grab her shoulders softly. "Khushiji'" said a dangerously sweet voice that sent chills down Khushi's spine. Shyamji! The sun seemed to turn off, dousing her in darkness as she felt fear come out of her in an agonized scream. Khushi opened her mouth but Shyam put a large hand, effectively silencing her and his other hand held her in an iron grip, digging through her skin, hurting her. She tried to wriggle free but his hold only tightened, his breath trekking over her ear. "Shh'.shh' Khushiji isstarha na karen' warna Arnav sun ly ga" he said, his nose tracing the outline of her neck and sniffing her. Khushi felt disgusted. The hand holding her arm let go and travelled over her bare back, making its way slowly but surely to the strings that tied her blouse. Khushi struggled and felt it tear away. Her heart racing, she turned to find Shyam nose to nose with herself, his teeth bared in a wolfish grin, eyes crazed as he tried to rape her' She woke up, a scream ripped from her. Her heart was racing wildly as she rapidly blinked sleep out of her eyes. It didn't help that the entire room was dark, just enough light to make the shadows scarier. Suddenly, she wasn't sure that the lump beside her was a pillow... she closed her eyes, shaking her head. Sirf bura khwab tha'.her mind flashed Shyam's maddened face and she shivered, folding her knees and wrapping her arms around them. Arnavji ap kahan hain? She started sobbing in earnest, wishing the darkness would go away but too afraid to move about herself. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Arnav was on his way to his room when he heard the scream. His heart jumped into his throat and he raced to the door, his mind churning out wild scenarios. He turned the lights on to find Khushi, her small form folded in on itself, sobbing and crying. He scanned the room to see what had her so scared and seeing nothing, figured it was a nightmare.

He went to her, unsure about how to soothe her but not willing to leave her like that. Each one of her tears was a new wound on his heart and he didn't know how to take her pain away. Finally, he just sat beside her, his hands hovering over her shoulders uncertainly. Say something'. He cleared throat, which felt suspiciously dry and croaked, 'Khushi'' She lifted her tear-stained face, relief glowing on it and suddenly, not holding her felt wrong. He put his hands on her shoulders, pulling her close. She scrambled and snuggled herself next to his chest, hands wrapping around the lapels of his coat, her face buried in his chest. She was also mumbling something. He could only make out his name. "Arnavji'" 'Shh, Khushi'khushi' main hun na'sb theek ho jai ga'" He kept talking, making promises he had no idea he could keep; he didn't know where the words came from but right now, he would have promised her the moon and the stars if she'd asked. It could've only been a minute but it felt like hours before she stopped shaking and crying. He was gently stroking her hair, his shirt was wet with her tears and she was sniffing loudly. Leery of letting her go, he wrapped one arm more securely about her and used to the other to feel around, finding the tissue box on the side table. Silently, he held it up to her. She took out four or five and blew her nose loudly, effectively destroying whatever moment that had held them in its grip so far. He had a sudden urge to grin as he recalled her antics about wiping her nose on her dupatta, even after he'd offered her the tissues. "Huh'' she hiccupped, swallowed and began again, 'humain maaf kar dain' hm bohat dar gai thay'humain laga''' 'Its alright, Khushi,' he said softly, 'Um' tm theek to ho?' 'jee'" she sniffed than began"Arnavji'aap humaray pass he rahen gy na?" she asked innocently. Arnav was moved by her words; he wrapped her much closer to himself. "Of course Khushi ma'"he was cut off by a loud knock on the door and then Anjali walked in with the rest of the family behind her.

"Chotay? Humain Khushiji ki cheenkh ki awaz ae'Sab theek hai'." She cut midway at the sight in front of her. Khushi had her face buried in his chest, his coat covered her face and he had his arms wrapped around her. Anjali blushed got all embarrassed then turned around to other behind her. "Umm' humain" she tilted her head motioning them to go out. Nani, Payal and Mami exchanged embarrassed looks and then left. Anjali turned around to Arnav "Um'Sorry chotay" she said with a red face, as she shut the door and left. Everything had happened too fast for Arnav to respond or Khushi to realize what was happening. What the' what just happened' why did De got all embarrassed? Oh'wow again. He couldn't help but smile. "Khushi..?" Arnav said softly, but she had fallen asleep again face still buried in his chest. She must have been extremely tired.Arnav gently laid her on the bed again. She looks like an innocent little angel He smiled at the sight of her. Arnavji aap humaray pass he rahen gy na her words echoed in his mind, he held her hand as her sat beside her "Han Khushi'I'll stay here with you." He said softly to the asleep Khushi. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''. Arnav sat beside Khushi holding her hand while she slept all night, he couldn't sleep with all the thoughts running through his mind , how could he sleep what if she wakes up and I'm asleep, she might get scared again, I can't leave her side not at night at least she's afraid of the dark he remembered it clearly how she had fainted in the dark when they had to stay the night at the SIKH'S DHABA, how she had told him that she was afraid of the dark when he'd hurt her and went to apologize. Apologize'oh yeah you still have a lot to apologize her for; his mind was racing with plans and ways to apologize. And the 6 month contract' only a few days are left, how will I let go' I don't want to lose her, she's my life'. Oh no, it's not your choice to make'not anymore. He sighed, then decided, sure its not my choice to make anymore' but I'll be damned if I let her go without a fight' Next morning Arnav left instructions with De to have breakfast sent to Khushi. He didn't want her coming down to face the family before she was completely ready to do so. If she felt strong enough, she could always come down.

Although it might've been a mistake, if De's suspicious look was anything to go by. He didn't know exactly what was running through his sister's head, he just knew it was bound to make him uncomfortable. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi woke up with a grumbling tummy, she had a really vivid dream it almost felt real. She remembered how in her dream Shyam was dragging her and she was so scared and then her Arnavji saved her, she remembered how she felt so safe in his arms and how he won't leave her side and held her hands while she slept. It all seemed too good to be true. Everything aside she was really hungry so she turned around to get out of bed when she saw a tray with breakfast in it, a few lemons and a note on the side table. She picked up the note it said "Khushiji aap ye nashta kr lain or agr tabyt kharab ho tou lemu chat lena" Anjali De Khushi was surprised and confused' Anjaliji ny humary lia nashta upper kun beja hai? She felt too hungry so she ate the food and went down stairs. She got up her body was aching really badly, maybe it wasn't just a dream after all' what will I say to Anjaliji? What if Shyamji is'Khushi shook her head No'No not now Arnavji will handle it, he knows' he saved me. She was halfway downstairs when Nani, who was sitting in the living room with Payal and Mamiji, spotted her. "Khushi bitya' kesi hain ab aap?"she asked with a knowing smile on her face; on seeing Khushi's confused expression, she continued. "Khushi bitya, perashan hony ki kono zarurat nahi'ae tou bht Khushi ki baat hai." Nani was smiling widely and Payal and Mami looked like they expected some answer. Khushi was confused. What is she talking about? Kia Khushi ki baat hai..? k shyamji ny humaray saath' nai nai, ye koi or baat kr rahi hain. She looked at their expectant faces. Kuch to kehna he paray ga' "Umm' Naniji' wo'" Khushi began but Mamiji cut her off, "Hello hi, bye bye phati sari, ab ka hay sharma-wat ho jb sab k samnay Arnav bitwa k'?" she stopped at Nani's warning glare.

What's happening? This was getting weirder and weirder. "Naniji...humaray lia nashata uper'" she began again but this time Anjali, coming from the kitchen, cut her off, "Hum sab bohat khush hain Khushiji!" Khushi watched mystified as Anjaliji came closer, her eyes suspiciously bright and extended an arm to touch Khushi's chin in a loving gesture. "Bohat khush!" she repeated, wiping her eyes. "Aap perashan na hoon, Chotay nay humain sb bata dia hai'wesey tou aap humain khud bhe bta sakti then mgar' koi nahi," she smiled widely at Khushi. "Payalji, aap khushiji ki champi kr dain ge? She asked smiling sweetly and knowingly and to Khushi's shock Payal agreed readily and started smiling in that sisterly fashion as if expecting her to share a secret. Khushi knew because that was exactly how she smiled when she was teasing Jiji about Jijaji. Ye kia ho raha hai? Sb itnay kush? Arnavji ny kia bta dia hai' Shyamji ka? Magr Anjaliji tou bilkul' jiji humari champi?...aur jiji humain iss tarhan kiun dekh rahi hai'.? "Jiji, tum humain iss tarhan kun daikh rahi ho?" Khushi realized she'd spoken her thought aloud when everyone burst out laughing. Nani and Anjaliji shook their heads and Mamiji left the room with her usual 'hello hi bye bye'. Payal slapped Khushi lightly and dragged her along to her room. "Khushi tu bhe na' ab chal andr chal or humain sb bata." She'd rarely heard Payal so excited. "Jiji wo'" Khushi wanted to tell her everything about Shyamji and how Arnavji had saved her but somehow she didn't think that was what Payal and all the others were so happy about. Payal cut her off. "Acha, ab sharma mat' hum jantay hain k tu pregnant hai". " KIA?" Khushi was dumbstruck. Payal continued " Ab humain ye mat kehna k tum ny or Arnavji ny kabhi'" She blushed. "Jiji tum kia keh rahi ho? '" But again Payal cut her off, laughing. "Acha chor, hum teri champi kr dyty hain, tou bhot thak gy ho ge." She finished, smiling naughtily. "Jiji hum pregnant nahi hain"Khushi protested. Payal continued smiling as she applied oil on her hair and started messaging her head.

Khushi had wanted to tell her so much but now she wasn't sure, not after seeing Payal laugh and smile. Jiji perashan ho jy ge' aur inhe ye kiun laga ke hm pregnant hain?... aur Mamiji kia keh rahi then, hm or Arnavji??? Suddenly, Khushi had too many questions. Shyam's words echoed in her head."Wo aap ko apni Patni nahi manta dil sy'Usnay tou Suhag honay ka haq he nahi aada keya ' hm aap ko btain ge k Pati honay ka matlb kya hota hai." And frankly, if it was anything like what Shyam had been trying to do, she was sort of glad Arnavji hadn't attempted it. But still, it was curious; after all, it was almost the same thing Arnavji had said to her."Na mai tumhen apni Patni maanu ga, or na he apni patni ka darja dun ga'" But he always treated her like his wife, except for the poolside part and well, their usual fights but' Amma kehti theen k shadi k rishton ma Pati Patni ki larai ho jaya karti hai' so then why did they say "'Patni nahi manta 'Suhag honay ka haq ' Pati honay ka matlb kya hota hai? Aakhir kia hota hai pati honay ka matlab? "Jiji, hum tum sy kuch pooch satkay hain?" Khushi asked carefully; she didn't want Payal to get suspicious. "Haan", Payal replied still smiling. "Jiji'" Unbidden, the image of Arnavji's face came to her, the way he'd looked at the poolside on Diwali, right before he'd almost'done something. And it had aroused the most amazing feelings in her' She gulped, feeling her cheeks blossom. 'Wo'hm poochna chahtay thay k''her voice quavered and cracked. She swallowed through a suddenly dry throat, 'k Pati'oo..or p-patni'' She stopped, unable to frame the question, her cheeks burning. Payal chucked her under the chin. "Han Khushi, bol'' she waited, then prompted, 'Pati aur patni'' ''k-kay darmian'' her voice faltered again and she couldn't lift her eyes. Payal lifted her face, gently, though her eyes were somber.

'Khushi, tu janti hai k tu mjhe kuch bhe bta skti hai. Par agar pati aur patni ke darmian koi baat hai to wo inhe ke darmian rehne chahiay'aur tjhe pata hai ke'' Someone knocked on the door and Khushi was saved from the increasingly strange and surprisingly awkward lecture Payal seemed intent on delivering. Payal straightened and called, 'Je, andr aa jain.' Hari Prekash walked in, holding Khushi's cell phone. 'Khushi dede, ap ka phone hai.' Khushi took it, wondering who was calling. If it was Amma ji or Bua je, perhaps she could get them to talk to Payal and then spy on her' 'Amma '' 'What the'?' Surprised, Khushi held the phone away and looked at the caller-id. Yikes. 'A..Arnavji?' she squeaked. Payal giggled, gently pushing her before getting up. 'Tm Arnavji se baat kr lo, hm Anjaliji je ke saath kam krwate hain.' She left, leaving Khushi to deal with her Pati. FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 5
Arnav knew she hadn't called him 'Amma' on purpose but it was annoying nonetheless, especially since she'd sounded so chipper when she'd said it. Quite unlike the stuttering squeak when she said his name. This is the thanks I get for calling in to check on her' he shook his head. 'Khushi,' he felt her name roll out like a caress, '' tm theek ho?' There was silence on the other end. He waited before prodding, 'Khushi'?' 'H..han, hm theek hain'' she sounded surprised. 'Hmm' I asked De ke breakfast bedroom me he bhej den'' 'Arnavji'' she interrupted, which told him a lot about her state of mind. She was probably bursting full of questions which couldn't be contained a moment longer. 'ap ne sb ko kia bta dia hai?'

'Kia bta dia hai?' He repeated; he had no idea what she was talking about. Haan tou ab ye asay kr rahay hain jesay inhen kuch pata nahi hai' zaroor inhon ny he kuch kaha ho ga' 'Ap ghar kab aa rahay hain?' Now it was Arnav's turn to be surprised, he wasn't expecting to get a response like this on his first day and first try. 'What'' but Khushi cut him off, 'Nahi' what the humain bhe kehna ata hai' aap jaldi ghar ayn hum aap sy baat krna chatay hain'or ye baat hum aap sy phone py nahi krna chatay', she finished in her stubborn voice. Arnav was not sure what she was talking about or what to say to her but he sure got curious. After all it was the 1st time Khushi ever asked him to come home early because she wanted to talk. 'Um'ok'' before he could say something else Khushi said 'Phir hum phone raktay hain' and she cut the line. What the' that was fast.He wasn't sure what just happened. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Shyam stared at his reflection: his bare chest glowed in the sunlight reflecting from the washroom window, throwing his abs in stark relief. There was huge bruise where Arnav had kicked him, on his lower abdomen. His face was an array of black and blue bruises, his jaw swollen and misshapen. Arnav's punch had dislocated it. He forcibly stretched his mouth open; his front teeth were chipped and they felt considerably loose. He looked so ugly' I almost had Khushiji and then that ARNAV!!!! There was a whoosh and then BANG, accompanied by the melodious sprinkling of broken class. Shyam had punched the mirror, shattering it. He looked at himself in the broken parts of the mirror, revenge glaring in his eyes' I won't back down that easy, Khushiji is my life and I'll break anyone who comes between us, I don't care anymore. She is MINE!!!! And always will be mine!!!... Arnav you'll have to pay' oh how you'll pay for stealing MY KHUSHI' for what you've made me look like! Curse you! There was another whoosh and a crunch as he bloodied his knuckles on the already broken mirror. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Arnav entered an empty living room and sighed with relief. Good, now he wouldn't have to face De's suspicious glare and awkward questions regarding his early homecoming. He was halfway across the stairs when' "Chotay!" Anjali called out, coming from the kitchen with Payal. Not again!!! Why do I always get caught? Arnav braced himself and turned around to face them. 'Chotay tum itni jaldi ghar'?' Anjali asked, smiling mischievously. She caught Payal's eye and both of them blushed and started giggling. Arnav was totally confused. What's so funny? He raised an eyebrow in question. Anjali attempted to be serious but failed, giggling again. 'Kuch ne chotay' tum jao' Khushiji upper he hain.' Arnav shook his head'De's unbelievable. He turned around to go upstairs when Anjali's phone rang. She checked the caller id, her face a mask of excitement, and told Payal. "Inn ka phone hai'" SWISH! With a lightning speed Arnav had walked over to Anjali and snatched the phone from her and picked it up. 'DON'T YOU DARE CALL DE AGAIN!" He barked into the phone and disconnected it. Anjali stared at him in shock. She was used his temper tantrums, lord knew he was angry enough, but she had never seen her CHOTAYlike this; so furious, his jaw clenched, eyebrows snapping into a fearsome frown, he looked ready to kill. And his voice... For a moment he'd sounded murderous. It sent chills down both Anjali and Payal's spine. What happened? Chotay inn sy asay kun baat kr rahy hain? Arnav stared at the phone in his hand and contemplated crushing it into dust. That would surely keep that unfaithful, lying, lowlife bas***d away from De. But it wasn't his phone that he could throw away and it wasn't Khushi's either. Of course, that wasn't his phone either but somehow; he never really felt she was someone other than his' Furious but respectful of De's property, he opened the cell phone and pulled out its battery. The he yelled, 'HARI PREKASH!'

'Chotay!!!' If Anjali had looked shocked before, she was positively scandalized now. 'Ye ap kia kr rhe hain?' 'HARI PREKASH!!' he yelled again, wanting to pummel something. Hari Prekash appeared, looking a little pale. Arnav forced himself to speak calmly, though he wanted to yell and rant and spit out curses. 'Ghar pe agr Shyam aye to use andr nahi ane dena'' and eyeing De's shocked features, he added, 'and make sure ke wo De ya Khushi ke qarib na ai. Understood?' 'Ji Arnavbabu,' Hari Prekash hastened to agree, though he appeared curious. It was a good thing he was a trusted servant. Dismissing him with a nod, he turned to go upstairs. He needed time to compose himself and lower his temper before telling De anything. He'd promised himself he'd give Shyam one and only one chance to prove himself worthy of De and repentant of his unfaithful ways. And Shyam had wasted that chance. He didn't want to hurt De, would rather stab himself than see De in pain but' this time, Shyam had gone too far. And Arnav would be damned if he let him get away with it. He could have him put away for attempted rape but not before De was apprised of the circumstances. She'd been his wife for years and if anyone deserved the truth, it was her. However, De had other plans. She grabbed his arm; he could've pulled himself away but he was a loath to do so. She would be hurting badly soon enough; no need to add to it. He didn't face her though. She might see the murderous rage in his eyes and it might scare her. Worse, she might try to stop him. 'Chotay, hmain jwab den! Ye ap kaisi batain kr rhe hain? Kia hua hai?' De demanded. He remained quiet, not going away but not talking either. Inexplicably, he felt the urge to cry. De came to stand in front of him and he blinked away the stray tears that had gathered in his eyes. 'Chotay ap humain jawab deyay baghair nahi ja saktay.' She stated, pulling Payal beside her in a show of support. Payal straightened her shoulders, nodding her agreement. 'De,' his voice sounded hoarse, his throat was so dry. 'Me ap ko sb bta dun ga' you must know' but' De mai' I can't see you get hurt!'

De's expression was heartbreaking, a mixture of confusion, hurt and that vulnerability that always made him want to protect her. Her voice impossibly quiet, she asked, 'Chotay kia hua hai? Ab ap hmain dra raha hain...' There was a quiet scrape and Arnav looked up to see Khushi standing stock still, her face a mask of pain and regret. Payal followed his gaze and met Khushi's eyes. Something went on between the sisters and she turned to look at Arnav again, her expression infinitely sad. Of course, she must've known about the engagement as well' his heart twisted. They'd done so much to protect De, all for nothing. He met Khushi's eyes; she nodded, swallowing. He turned to Anjali and softened his voice,'De ap baith jain...' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi's heart was thudding so hard it felt like it would explode from her ribs. She'd kept her engagement to Shyamji a secret to save these people from the pain revealing the truth would elicit. Already, it had wreaked havoc on Arnavji. He was holding on to himself but she could see the cracks in his calm faade ' his jaw was clenched too tight, his hands fisted as if he wanted to hit something and his eyes were the worst: they were filled with anger, regret and so much pain, it hurt Khushi even from this distance. He was like a man watching his house burn but unable to douse the fires ' utterly and completely helpless. And Anjaliji looked like she'd seen a ghost. Her eyes were wide and fearful, her mouth trembling, like she was about to cry. Jiji had placed an arm around her shoulders in a comforting gesture. Khushi's eyes returned to her pati. He'd closed his eyes and was rubbing the bridge of his nose as if to ward off a headache. His hands were shaking. Kitna mushkil ho ga na in ke lia'she wondered. Jo shaks hr chez ko apna ikhtiar me smjhta ha us ke lia to' she couldn't find words strong enough to describe what he must be feeling. Her heart went out to him. Try as she might, she couldn't maintain her anger towards Arnavji too much. Sure she got angry at his lousy treatment but she couldn't fault him for trying to protect De. After all, that was the very reason she'd hidden the truth from Arnavji when she'd broken off with Shyamji. She couldn't bear to see either De or Arnavji in so much pain.

Pr ab to hmain De ko sb btana paray ga' Shyamji to roz broz aur nadar hotay ja raha hain. She had had the nightmare again this morning, only there'd been no Arnavji there to hold her. She had missed him terribly, despite her annoyance at his implication that she was pregnant. And now, seeing him looking so wretched, decided her. He needed someone to support him, whether he admitted it or not. And this concerned her as much as it concerned De. She walked towards Arnavji, stood beside him and took his hand in hers, silently offering him support. They both turned to face De who looked a mite scared. Khushi looked at Payal, willing her to start. Payal cleared her throat. 'De'' '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 6
Anjali had gone all numb, she couldn't hear anything around her, she could see her brother's tortured face and the tears rolling down his cheeks and his wife holding on to him, crying too. Her mind was racing' So it was a sign' the mangle sutra really was a sign' the hatred, it was not hormones it was all a warning'for my own good, my protection' He really was a monster' all these times; he used me'For money? He had no feelings for me' and he did Khushiji and her family wrong' they all kept it from me so I won't get hurt. Flashbacks, she remembered every single time; like on their anniversary Shyam had left as soon as he heard Khushiji was attending, how she Anjali had cried that he did not love her and Khushiji had told her that true love doesn't require gifts and appearances it requires trust and faith. Poor Khushiji how hurt she was when she found out her fianc was my husband' she came to tell me when my mangle sutra broke' she was so hurt herself and she didn't tell me because I'd get hurt' and chotay'she remembered the pained look on Arnav's face when he wanted to talk to her and she fainted and then woke up to tell him she was pregnant, how he'd hugged her and how he'd cried in her lap and kept a close eye on her.

She now understood why Arnav, her Chotay had married Khushiji in such a hurry, how he and Khushiji had suffered just to keep her happy. She remembered how each time when she caught her husband sneaking in Chotay's room he'd made a clever excuse and she believed him'I trusted him' I loved him, I gave him everything and he'How could he'. She couldn't take it anymore. Tears stated dripping out of her eye, rolling down her cheeks, she stood up and walked over to where Khushi and Arnav stood. Arnav looked so hurt; he was crying. Anjali hugged him and he hugged her back like a child. 'De I'm so sorry!' he cried. 'Nahi chotay' please' she said wiping the tears off his cheeks and kissed his forehead. She could not see them cry for her, because she had hated Shyam from quite a while now, and only now she knew it was not hormones. She then came closer to Khushi and extended an arm to touch Khushi's chin in a loving gesture then said 'Mery lia Chotay or aap se zaida koi nahi hai'' then she hugged Khushi, she hugged her back exactly like her chotay did. Then she turned around to Payal and nodded in an approving way and left the room. She could not stay there, she had to go. She had to thank Devi Maiya for keeping her safe and sound and for blessing her with so much caring family. It had taken every ounce of her strength, to listen to the betrayal of the love of her life and to calm chotay and Khushiji afterwards, but she knew she had to do it or Arnav might end up getting hurt again. And he wasn't the only one capable of making sacrifices. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Shyam knew the layout of the Raizada mansion quite well. It had helped him sneak out often enough; today it would help him get in. All he needed were a few minutes with the cars. He'd once thought the only person standing between him and his Khushiji was Rani Sahiba; he realized now that he couldn't ever forget Arnav. It had cost him dearly once, he wouldn't make the same mistake twice. So, he would do what he did best: sneak attack. Oh sure, some might think he was a manipulating bas***d; that didn't make him any less smart.

His plan to kill Rani Sahiba and remove her from his life once and for all had almost succeeded. This time, he would capture two birds with a single stone. And when either Rani Sahiba or Arnav used the cars, they'd be headed straight for disaster. Smiling to himself, Shyam got to work. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi was still reeling from the emotions the revelations had aroused. She felt sad for Anjaliji and Arnavji, angry at Shyamji for betraying them all but mostly, she felt relief. That everything was finally out in the open. Well, almost everything. With unspoken understanding between them, she and Arnavji had mentioned nothing of Shyamji's attempt to rape her. Anjaliji had looked shocked enough as it was and it wasn't like they needed anything else to add on Shyamji's crime list. She hadn't realized how much keeping everything to herself had been straining her but now, she felt strangely light. It didn't automatically cure all her problems but it did make everything easier to bear; she'd finally understood today what had pushed Arnavji into marrying her. She thought she also understood why he hadn't told her: he'd suspected her of conspiring with Shyam. She didn't know if it made her angry or not but that would be dealt with later. Right now, she needed to go comfort him; nobody deserved that much pain or guilt and she'd seen both on Arnavji's ravaged countenance. He'd gone upstairs, likely to lock himself in his room and wrack himself on every perceived mistake he'd made. She wanted to be there to tell him that nobody was perfect, that anyone could've made the same mistakes. She wanted him know she'd be there. Somehow, she didn't think her Laad Governor had a lot of people tell him that; in fact, the only person he allowed himself to care for was De and she cared back for him. And now, De was going to need her own privacy, so she couldn't be there for him' The thought of Arnavji lost and guilt-wracked was more than she could bear. It hurt her as surely as if she herself was suffering the pain. Payal hugged her, holding her tightly, silently telling her that she understood her pain. That was what family did. And right now, she was Arnavji's family' She hugged Payal back, letting her tears flow freely. 'Bss Jiji, ab sb theek ho jai ga' tm dekhna''

'Hmain pta hai Khushi,' Payal replied, her voice tear-thickened, 'bs ab tu rona band kar dy.' She smiled and pulled back; Payal touched her chin in that loving gesture of hers. Her eyes turned somber as she glanced upstairs. 'Khushi'' 'Jiji tm preshan na ho, hm ja rha hain.Tm bs De ka khyal rkhna.' Payal nodded, giving her a gentle push towards the stairs. 'Ja!' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' The door wasn't locked, which surprised Khushi very much. Arnavji was a loathe letting people see his feelings and he was so vulnerable right now' Khushi felt somewhat giddy at the trust he'd shown her. She went inside, gently closing the door behind her. Arnavji was beside the French windows, staring at the poolside, his face drenched in tears and his throat working furiously. He looked so lost and forlorn; Khushi's heart went out to him. As if he sensed her he turned and met her eyes. Never had she seen him look so miserable before. She'd dreamed of exacting revenge on him often enough, had perhaps given him as good as she'd got, annoying him to no end in the process. But she'd never truly meant to undo him. And this was what had happened now: Arnav Singh Raizada had become undone. 'Khushi'' his voice was hoarse and so low, she could barely hear it. His jaw worked and suddenly she didn't want to hear him say that. He was so proud; this had to be killing him. She went to him, placing her fingers on his lips to shush him. He gently grabbed her hand, pushing it away. Undeterred, she cupped his cheek. He leaned into the touch, eyes closing even as new tears fell. She led him to the bed, pulling him down to sit beside her. He didn't; instead, he kneeled beside her, placing his head in her lap, even as his arms banded about her waist. She stroked his head, his hair and traced her fingers over his tears, gently wiping them off. He held her tighter as the intensity of his sobs strengthened until he was fairly shaking with their force.

Words came tumbling out, though she could barely understand what he said; some of it was because he spoke in English and though she was well versed in the Arnav-speak (What the', Shut up! Etc) it wasn't her strong suit. Mostly, though, it was because he couldn't get much out except for raw sobs. She didn't know exactly how long they remained like that but it was as hassling for her as it was for him. Her own tears fell as if in synchrony with his until finally, it was all over and their eyes simply stopped producing tears. Arnavji lifted his face, his reddened eyes meeting hers. Suddenly, despite all the emotional chaos running through her, she felt herself drawn into his gaze; a gaze that had always been honest. The one aspect of their relationship that had never changed: whenever their eyes met, everything else faded into nothingness. *Rabba Ve* She felt herself drowning into his eyes and suddenly, she was all too aware of him. Aware of the way tears still clung to his lashes, so close she could count every single one of them; aware of how his arms were wrapped about her waist, his face mere inches from hers' Her heart in her throat *DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK*, she leaned forward, not sure what she could do but unable to remain static. He leaned in as well; his eyes suddenly bright and filled with some nameless emotion. She didn't realize what was happening except that it was so completely profound, sotheir ' A huge explosion rocked the ground.

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 7
A few minutes earlier' Shyam watched his handiwork with satisfaction. Anyone starting either of these cars was in for a surprise. Grinning, he glanced around the garage. He'd managed to safely avoid the security cameras and sneaking out would be no more difficult. Eying his work once more, he made his way quietly out of mansion.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'Payalji, hm mandir jana chahtay hain'' Anjali said to Payal who'd been wandering around her room for the past fifteen minutes or so. Anjali was both a little amused and annoyed at her antics; she wasn't going to do anything stupid even if it did sound tempting. Payal nodded, 'Hm driver ko btatay hain'' Anjali watched her go away then looked down at her hands. She was hurting so much' Tears blurred her eyes and she finally had a few peaceful moments of blissful crying.Ap hmaray sath ye kaisay kar sktay thay? Kiun kia ap ne ye sb? Aur becharay Chotay or Khushiji' Approaching footsteps alerted her of Payal's arrival and she wiped her tears, not wanting to worry them all the more. Besides, this much hurt had to be bad for the baby. She swallowed and forced a smile. Payal's eyes were quietly understanding as she nodded. 'De, hm ap ke sath jain gy.' Anjali nodded, grateful for her support. She was glad neither Nani nor Mamiji were here or they would've crowded her a lot more. They made their way to the garage and on spotting them, the driver, who'd been lounging beside the car, straightened and entered the driver's seat to start the car. They were a few feet away when he turned the ignition and' BOOM! They knew no more. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi was not sure how they came upon the scene. One minute she'd been leaning towards Arnavji, on the verge of that elusive something and suddenly, before she could so much as blink, he'd been on his feet, running away, calling for De. She'd followed, naturally and the smoke had told its own story. Fear gripped her in its cold grasp as she eyed the now smoldering garage through the smoke. Arnavji hadn't let the smoke deter him, jumping straight in. A pain-filled cry filled the air and she ran, her worst fears suddenly much more real.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav felt like he was drowning. There was strange pressure on his ears, his throat felt clogged and everything else was slowly fading into nothingness. He could only see what lay in front of him and he wanted to tear his eyes out so that he wouldn't have to. Lying a few feet away from the open garage door (or what remained of it, anyway) were two bloodied bodies, covered in soot and ash. Please De, please be okay' he silently pleaded, fearful of moving forward but unable to stop. He forced one step ahead of the next, until he stood right above them. With a broken cry, he dropped to his knees beside De. Her face was blackened and bloodied, several scrapes marring her hands and arms. And was that a burn? He stared at her uncomprehendingly, his mind refusing to accept what he saw. He knew he should turn and check the other body (probably Payal) but he couldn't turn away. He was aware of someone running to stand beside him, of Khushi's scream when she saw Payal but it was all faded, in the background. Hesitantly, he reached out to touch De's face, his voice hoarse, 'De'' She moaned and stirred and started to get up. She winced when she moved; suddenly, everything came rushing back into focus. De was alive! He had to get her help. 'Shh',' he murmured, gently forcing her back, 'ap wapis lait jao De, I'll call the ambulance'' De laid her head back with a grimace; in his periphery he saw Khushi place Payal's head in her lap, softly murmuring. He took out the phone, called for the ambulance and waited. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' The ride in the ambulance had been quite stressful; Khushi hated hospitals, especially since her Babaji's stroke. It was made even worse by the fact that the orderlies kept saying dangerous sounding stuff like 'heart beat stable, blood pressure normal''. It made her head hurt and she was grateful to finally get off the godforsaken vehicle.

They rolled Payal and Anjaliji on gurneys and straight to the emergency room, to provide them quickest services. She and Arnavji were left to wait outside. Arnavji had withstood the shock much better than she'd anticipated. At first, when she'd seen him kneeling beside De, she'd thought he was going into shock himself. But then, he'd come back, snapping orders, demanding answers and all in all, appearing completely in charge. She was more than glad to hand over this responsibility to him. Her hands and feet still shook when she thought of Jiji and De lying like the dead. They'd been standing away for the garage door which had saved their lives. Their driver hadn't been so lucky; neither had been the other car. Arnavji had made her call Ammaji and Buaji and he was attempting to contact Naniji, Mamiji and Mamaji, who'd gone shopping earlier in the day. She looked about her, feeling suddenly exhausted. Ammaji and Buaji would be here soon enough. Sighing heavily, she plopped into the waiting seats and closed her eyes. Soon, she was napping. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Nani, Mami and Mama arrived like a hurricane, Khushi's Ammaji and Buaji following in the aftermath. Arnav was both relieved and a little tense. Usually, De or Khushi or Payal or even Aakash dealt with the social aspects of his life. Now, however, De and Payal were indisposed (his fists clenched tightly), Aakash, who'd arrived moments earlier, was now attending to his wife and Khushi had fell in an exhausted sleep on the waiting seats and he was left to his own devices. In that moment, he realized how much he relied on the others to save him from the bane of social existence. Everyone started talking at once, bombarding him with questions and not even waiting for his reply before asking the next one. He tried to get in a few words but failed. Mami and Buaji were near hysterics, as was Khushi's Ammaji and Nani was barely holding it together; he felt sure that in another minute or so, they were going to break out into tears and then he would be completely lost. So he did the only thing he could.

'Enough!' he nearly yelled, so that everyone within the waiting area, including the hospital staff, fell quiet. His family stared at him and he resisted the urge to curse. 'De or Payal ko ap ke ansuon se koi faida nahi hoga' if you want them to get better, do something practical. Nani, aj raat unhain yahin rukna hai, ap uski arrangements krwa den aur'' 'Hello hi, bye bye! Thora apun speed ko slow karo, Arnav bitwa. Ee to btao ke hua ka hai?' Mami asked. 'I'm not sure,' he said, then raised his voice over their protests, 'I called the police before coming here. Ab ja kr check karun ga'' He turned to Nani, noticing the lines drawn around her mouth. She looked very worried and was that' that was a small toy sticking out of her purse. He eyed them all again, noticing a cuddly teddy bear in Mami's hands. In her worry, she'd twisted the poor thing severely. When he'd come home, he hadn't really noticed nobody was home until much later, when his mind had cleared up a little. Now he wondered where they'd all been. He realized he'd asked the question aloud when Nani replied him, 'Hm apnay ghar ke nai mehmanon ke lia kuch tuhfay lenay gai thay'' Sometimes Arnav wished Nani wouldn't talk in riddles. What did she mean, mehmanon? As far as he knew, De wasn't expecting twins. Did that mean Payal'? Judging from the interested looks on Khushi's family, he realized he wasn't the only one in the dark. Nani continued, 'Hm aj Khushi bitia aur ap ko surprise dena chahtay thay'' Whoa, wait, back up. 'What?' He was sure he looked much more stricken than either Buaji or Ammaji. 'Sanka devi?' Buaji intoned, her expression going from stricken to blissful in mere moments. She turned to Arnav, 'Nandkisore, tm ne hmain kiun nahi bataya?' 'Madhumati ji, aisa inhn ne jan ke nahi kia. Wo kia hai ka inhain khud he kal pata chala hai' hm aj ap ko ghar bulana chahtay thay'' Nani soothed Buaji. 'What the hell are you talking about?' Khushi? Pregnant??? And she'd told him about it? He suddenly recalled De's meaningful glances. Wow, they think Khushi's' wow, just'

Mami rolled her eyes, 'Ee dhek lo'' she launched into a detailed account of how men usually got cold feet upon discovering they were about to become fathers. Mama naturally disagreed, saying it just took them more time to adjust to that idea. Others enthusiastically joined in. He shook his head to clear it, wondering how he could get them off this increasingly disturbing topic of his impending fatherhood. He glanced around and watched as Buaji and Ammaji shook Khushi awake, and hugged her. She responded with equal enthusiasm, which faded somewhat as they congratulated her on her pregnancy. She gave him a look over their shoulders. Ap ne sb ko kia bta dia ha? Her words echoed. He understood her confusion now. He'd have to end this ridiculousness but later. For now, Khushi could handle them; he'd go and see the police. 'I'll be back once I wrap things up.' He announced and, ignoring Khushi's warning glare, stalked off '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 8
The police had more or less completed their work at the site, the yellow tape marking it as the crime scene. His security consultants, in charge of the security of his house and the office, were also there, viewing the various camera feeds to see if anything turned up. He surveyed the area with disdain; more mess. Everything seemed to be falling apart; first with Khushi and then with De and now this' A hail went through the men gathered about the screen; obviously they'd come up some useful information. At last! He went to see what had them so excited. They parted to let him stand right beside the operator, next to the screen. The scene showed several scenes at once, each covering a different section of the outside of Raizada Mansion. He'd recently had the locations of different cameras altered, as per the suggestions of his consultants. They recommended he change it every few months and he was quite particular about it. It kept anyone from finding a pattern and flaws in his security system.

The camera feed playing right now showed several scenes of someone sneaking in. He wasn't exactly surprised to see it was Shyam. He supposed he should've expected something like this but' dammit, the man must've lost his mind. He wondered how he'd entered the house in the first place? He'd ordered Hari Prekash to stop him at all costs. 'Hari Prekash!' he called, still eyeing the feed. 'Ji Arnav babu?' 'Me ne kaha tha Shyam ko ghar me dakhil nahi honay dana',' he pointed at the camera, 'Ye kia ha?' Hari Prekash eyed the camera, looking a little pale. 'Hm ne to bahir guards ko bta dia tha'' Arnav cursed. He'd have to deal with them but later. Right now, this evidence needed to be reported. He told HP to call the inspector inside so that he could view the camera feed. When HP went, he placed a call to his solicitor to update him to the situation. He would know exactly what charges to press and then ensure the threat was carried through. HP came back with the guards in tow. He explained that he'd passed the order to the guards; unfortunately, there was this new guy who'd just come in to start the evening shift and had missed it. Thus, when Shyam had come knocking, he'd been let in. Arnav gave the man a piece of his mind and left him under HP's supervision. The inspector came and Arnav left his security team to apprise him of the situation. Satisfied that everything was set in motion, he decided to go back to the hospital. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav received news that De had finally come round and was well enough to sit up. Same for Payal; both had been knocked down by the blast but thankfully, hadn't been hurt any worse. He was beyond relieved and completely expected a rush of joy at seeing De alive and well; what he did not expect was the joy that he felt on spying Khushi happily chattering away. She met his eyes and waved without taking a pause. God only knows what she talks about... He was a little relieved too, for he'd expected to be cornered as soon as he arrived; she'd been shooting daggers at him ' because apparently Khushi had told him the good news and he'd spread it along.

He had no idea where or how his family had gotten this idea but he would set it right. After they'd taken De and Payal home. It just seemed a pity to spoil their celebratory mood. So, he merely nodded when everyone started congratulating him. To his surprise, though, Khushi didn't seem to mind that. In fact, she blushed and looked down in the most adorable way whenever anyone teased her. It was infinitely cute and completely baffling. She also wouldn't meet his eyes, though he caught her looking at him from beneath her lashes plenty of times. Each time, she hurriedly looked away, her cheeks blooming. Ab kia soch rahi hai? He wondered. Whatever it was, it would be utterly senseless and yet, she'd be convinced of its logic. He eyed her, fluttering about like the butterfly, Buaji often called her. She went from soothing Aakash and Payal to De, taking care of this and that and all in all, lightening whatever somberness had gripped them before. His chest tight with some unnamed emotion, he watched her, his mind in turmoil. Unconsciously, his hand went to his heart that was beating suddenly very hard. He could feel it banging against his ribs. DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK. She'd come to him when he had been hurting. He couldn't remember anyone other than De doing that for him. She'd soothed him, crying with him until his pain had been wrung out of him. She hadn't condemned him, nor rejected his touch; in fact, she'd welcomed it. His mind flashed to that instant, just before the blast. He had almost kissed her and she had been as lost in the moment as he' His Khushi was a nigh special woman and fool that he was, he hadn't realized until it was too late. And now, he had only one day. He would take what he could, though, even if it was only an hour. So, he sat back in his seat beside De and for the first time since they'd met, truly let himself enjoy her without any compunctions. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi was sure her face was on fire. There was no way she could blush this much without burning. Everyone, absolutely everyone, was bent on razzing her; it appeared that since Jiji and De were out of danger, everyone wanted to have fun.

At her expense. Worse, Arnavji was looking at her like he wanted'well, frankly, he was looking at her like he wanted to eat her or something. Why that would excite her was anybody's guess. Her heart was racing and her palms were sweaty. It wasn't comfortable. And she was having a hard enough time already. She still hadn't got used to the idea that she was pregnant. It seemed like such a big thing to happen and surely something huge had to happen before that could occur. Right? Devi Maiya, ap he btain? Aisa nahi hona chahiya? Aur Arnavji hamain aisay kiun dekh rahay hain? Devi Maiya had no reply for that. She looked at Arnavji again, sitting relaxed in his chair, his legs spread out before him and his eyes trained on her. He would look at the others only when directly addressed and even then, his eyes would continuously flicker back on her. It was enough to give her ideas. Ideas she'd sworn she would never entertain, especially regarding this particular man. And her stupid heart just had to beat so hard. DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK. She closed her eyes and took a deep deep breath. It didn't help. Why, oh why did he have to do this now, of all the times? She was tense enough as it was. She'd recalled a few minutes earlier that their contract was finishing in another day. And she was pregnant with Arnavji's baby. What would she do now? Suddenly, the room felt too full, the air felt too thick and she had a hard time catching her breath. ''kuch khanay penay ka intizam krna chahiya'' she vaguely heard Naniji say and she jumped at the idea. 'Hm sb le atay hain, ap hmain btain!' she said urgently, noticing with dismay that Arnavji had straightened as if getting ready to stand up. Oh please no, she had to get away from him before she fainted because she couldn't breathe. She heard Naniji's instructions with half an ear, repeating them automatically and soon as she was done, Khushi dashed out of the room and away from her Pati's disturbing presence.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav watched Khushi run like the hounds of hell were behind her. He stood, wanting to follow her, only to stop when De touched him. She looked battered; there was a cut on her forehead, her arms were badly scratched and there was a burn on her neck, some hair singed away. Still, she managed to give him that sweet smile that made him want to smile in return. 'Chotay, Khushiji ko mt tang karo' bechari pehlay he itni preshan hain'' So he'd noticed. She must be tense about how to break the news that she wasn't pregnant and that her marriage would be off in another day to such an expectant crowd. It was worrying him as well but he was quite ready to take the fall. Khushi had suffered enough at his hands and he wouldn't let her face the tirade alone. Yeah, he needed to reassure her of that. He nodded to De gratefully and started towards the door but De pulled him back again. 'Chotay, ap hmaray sath baith jain.' For De, that was the sternest tone she'd used on him; well, he supposed he could tell her that later. He slumped into the chair beside De once again. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Anjali shook her head, hiding her smile at Chotay's disappointed expression. Chotay bhi na' she shook her head again. She was truly glad her Chotay had found his love; because despite the circumstances of their marriage, Chotay and Khushiji were meant for each other. At least one of us found true love' but no, she wouldn't indulge in despair. She wouldn't waste her tears on that scoundrel. She looked about her; Nani, Mami, Mama, Aakash, Payal's mother and aunt' everyone looked a bit strained underneath all their appearance of casualness. Mami had a piece of straw sticking out of her head, no doubt gotten on her way here. They'd been really worried, although they were all holding it together because of her and Payal. She realized how much they really cared for her.

Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude and grief. Of course it hurt; his betrayal hurt a lot but she could survive it. She and her baby would know only the purest love because she had such great people to care for her. On an impulse, she pulled the people closest to her (Chotay, Aakash and Mami) in a bear hug. What was better, they all hugged her back. All would be well; satisfied, she lay back on her pillow. Eventually, all would be well. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 9
Khushi glanced over her shoulder, half expecting Arnavji behind her. She was wrong, though. He hadn't followed. She tried not to let that disappoint her. After all, she'd wanted to get away from him. Right? This uncertainty was most unnerving and she kept feeling the gods were playing some joke on her. She addressed Devi Maiya angrily, 'Ab ap bs kr den, bohat preshan kar liya hmain'' The orderly passing her by eyed her curiously. She ignored him and went on telling Devi Maiya to cut it out before she lost it. After a good argument of about five minutes, her heart beat had returned to normal. She thanked her goddess, 'Ap ka bohat bohat dhanay wad, Devi Maiya.' Relaxed now, she started towards the cafeteria again but realized that in her hurry to get away from Arnavji, she'd forgotten whatever Naniji had told her. Ab hmain phir wapis jana paray ga' she eyed the door leading her back to De's and Jiji's room dubiously. Could she sneak in, ask Naniji about her orders and come back out without Arnavji being any wiser? She didn't think so. It appeared Devi Maiya wasn't done playing her tricks. She gave an evil eye to her goddess before entering the room. De was hugging Mamiji, Jijaji and Arnavji which made it easier for her to sneak in unnoticed. She leaned down to Naniji and asked what she'd asked her to bring. Naniji was about to repeat her instructions when Arnavji spoke up, 'Nani, I'll handle it.' Well, it wasn't like she was surprised. She should've known he would handle all aspects of staying over in a hospital room; his De was staying here, after all. Dammit, she didn't want to face him right now. With a sigh, she sat beside Naniji and kept her head down despite the almost desperate urge to look up and see what he was doing.

As it was, she could hear him quite well and that was almost as bad as looking at him. His voice, all deep and husky, draped over her and made her all shivery. It was most unfair. She put her chin on her hands and sulked. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav emerged from De's hug and straightened to find Khushi leaning over Nani. He heard Nani instruct Khushi about food and called, 'Nani, I'll handle it.' Khushi stiffened at first, then her shoulders drooped and slumped beside Nani, looking sulky. He felt a smile curve his mouth as he took out his phone and dialed home to get the message to Hari Prekash. He would get the food here. She'd been bolting; he'd seen that on her face. And now, apparently, she'd lost her chance. Well, he couldn't pretend to feel sorry. He was glad she was here, right in front of him. He moved so that he stood directly in her line of vision. She looked down, a determined frown marring her forehead. So'this is how it is, eh? He felt his smile expand. He moved closer, noticing how she straightened her shoulders, as if to face an oncoming tide. She still didn't look up. Before he could do anything else, HP picked up the phone. He gave the message to have the food prepared and delivered at De's room, keeping his eyes on Khushi. She sat, not looking at him but appeared very aware of him; when he moved, she twitched. Interesting. He ended the call and opened his mouth to address her when his phone rang. It was his solicitor, informing him of the charges being pressed against Shyam: conspiring, attempted murder and manslaughter, and just to be sure, faking identity. Arnav Okayed them all and ended the call again. He moved towards Khushi, wanting to force her to look at him. That she wasn't just heightened his desire more. Dammit but he couldn't resist a challenge from her. And by the gods, he would have her staring at him as he was' The phone rang again. He cursed under his breath and briefly wondered if he could throw the damned thing away. But this was a hospital and you just didn't litter. So he took the call with a harsh 'This had better be good.'

It was. The inspector had seen the security feed and immediately applied for a warrant which would be granted by evening at the latest and they would have Shyam in custody before the night was out. A surge of triumph went through him. Serves him right, the bas***d'De aur Khushi se aise khailnay ke lia tmhe batreen saza he milni chahia Shyam' I'll personally assure ke aisa he ho. His triumph didn't last too long, though, because as soon as he saw Khushi again, all his crimes against her came rushing back to him, along with the fact that he was rapidly losing what little time he'd left with her. It was a depressing thought, one that stole away his good mood. Suddenly, he didn't want to be anywhere near Khushi. She deserves so much better' I'll make it right for you Khushi, I swear. His heart felt heavy and he felt crowded. 'De, I'm going outside; be back in a few.' He told her and walked out of the suddenly stifling room. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Anjali didn't like the direction of her thoughts. Sure, he had been unfaithful and had cheated on her and lied to her. But surely, blasting someone was going a bit too far and he wouldn't' Well, she thought, I can't really say what he would or wouldn't do, now can i? I didn't think he would cheat on me either but he obviously did. Was attempting to kill her or rather Chotay, because it was his car she'd been planning to take, really that far out? She remembered that night, sometime back, when there had been a scorpion in her bedroom. At that time, she'd been too worried about him and too relieved to wonder where it had come from. Could it be that he had been attempting to get her out of the way even then? It wasn't a pleasant thought and it sent chills down her spine. She suddenly saw Chotay talking on the phone. The smile on his face was harshly triumphant' almost cruel. As he talked, his eyes swept around the room, falling first on her and then on Khushi, and then stayed there, a very possessive look on his face. It didn't take a genius to figure out who the subject of that talk was and her question was answered.

She closed her eyes, suddenly exhausted. A thought intruded; Devi Maiya ne hmain aur hmari beti ko aik buhat buray anjam se bacha lia ha' It calmed her fears and she fell asleep, burying her thoughts in the welcoming darkness. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Hm kia karain??? Khushi thought wildly. The more she thought about it, the more she became convinced that she couldn't divorce Arnavji now. It was bad enough she'd married him or rather had been forced to marry him in such a hurried fashion and had besmirched her family's name. If she was divorced, it would be worse. If she divorced now that she was pregnant' She didn't even want to contemplate the consequences. She rubbed her forehead frantically, trying to force it to work. Arnavji didn't go back on his words, that much she knew. And he didn't forget, either. She would bet her favorite gotay wali kameez that he remembered each and every word of that damned contract. So what the hell was she supposed to do? Hmain pta hai, her mind supplied, suddenly bright, hm Arnavji se thoray se paisay udhar la kr Bali chalay jatay hai aur wahan apni mithai ke dukan khol len gay!!! Shut up! Another part of her mind, sounding disturbingly like Arnavji, replied, as if is se koi msla hal ho ga. Tmhe Arnavji ko saaf saaf bta dena chahiya ke ye pregnancy is contract ka hissa nahi the. Ab ye unka qasur ha k tm pregnant ho' she certainly hoped that part was right' is lia unka farz ha k wo is bachay ka lia hr chez ka intizam karain. Her mind agreed with itself. Aur ab to unhain ye bhe pta hai k hmaray aur Shyamji ke drmian kuch nahi tha' She relaxed. Of course Arnavji would agree with her, that divorce wasn't the solution. And if he didn't agree' well, she could always go to Bali. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''...

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 10

An hour or so later, after a magnificent dinner, a doctor visited both patients and declared them both stable. They would be kept overnight to ensure there was no concussion. Nani and Buaji decided to stay over and insisted that everyone else, including a very reluctant Aakash, go home. The goodbyes were said. Jijaji, Mamiji and Mamaji went back in their own car, leaving Khushi and Arnavji to return in their own, after dropping Ammaji home. Both were utterly silent on the way, acutely aware of one another but too wrapped up to actually attempt to communicate. Khushi eyed him from beneath her lashes; his expression was unreadable. It gave her no idea of his thoughts and made her nervous. She determined that he wasn't going to say anything, so spent rest of her trip taking deep breaths to brace herself for the upcoming confrontation. Because whether he wanted it or not, she was confronting him tonight. He couldn't just ignore their child and declare their contract fulfilled. This time, she would talk even if she had to yell it from across the room. By the time they reached home, she was fairly seething with righteous anger, quite determined to win this battle. The rest of their family had already retired so they didn't linger in the living room but headed straight up stairs. Readying herself, Khushi stepped inside her room and sat on the bed. He threw his coat on the seat and headed for the washroom, completely spoiling the dramatic effect she was going for. Which was just as well because her throat was suddenly dry and she glugged down water in a hurry. It wouldn't do to lose her voice in the middle of her impassioned speech. Arnavji came out, looking quite determined and no more refreshed than he had before he'd gone to the washroom. It made no sense. Why go in there if you weren't going to refresh? She would remember to question him on that once they got their 'big talk' out of the way. While she was ordering her thoughts, Arnavji had paced in front of her at least thrice and now stopped right in front of her. His eyes strangely dull, his mouth a grim slash, he faced her. 'Khushi''

That instant, she knew what he was going to say and as per her promise, she overran his words, jumping up and got her speech out. 'Nahi Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada, pehlay ap ko hmari baat sunni paray gi. App ye nahi kr sktay, hm ap ko bta rhay hain. Ap is shadi ko contract smjhtay hongay pr kisi ke kehnay sa koi rishta toot nahi jata'' 'Khushi'' he sounded a little overwhelmed. 'Hmain kehnay dain. Ap ka hukam chalta hoga apnay office me' pr hm bhe Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada hain,' she emphasized the last extension to her name, holding up her mangla sutra, 'Is rishtay main hmara bhe utna he haq hai jitna aap ka ha.' 'Aur ab ap ye kaisay kar saktay hai?' she threw the question in his shocked face, coming nose-to-nose with him. He blinked rather rapidly, 'Kia kaisay kr skta hun?' He inquired. 'Ab jb ke hm ap ke bachay se pregnant hain? Ap hm se divorce kaisay kr sktay hain?' She cried, completely frustrated at his lack of understanding for her desperate condition. 'Pregnant?' He shook his head, 'Khushi'' 'Nahi,' she interrupted him again, determined not to let him go until she'd said every word she wanted to. Dimly, she noticed that he was looking at her a little strangely. But then, that was nothing new; he never merited her exceptional intellectual abilities. 'Ap ko apnay annay walay betay ke qasm, ap aisa hargiz nahi karain gay.' 'Beta? Khushi meri baat suno'' he began. 'Dekhian hm jantay hain ka ap ne ye sb sirf De ke lia kia; hm smjhtay hain. Pr hm ne nahi kaha tha ke hmain pregnant kr den!' He choked on whatever he'd been about to say, his face red. 'What?' 'Aur contract me pregnancy ke koi baat nahi the, is lia wo contract ab hmari halat pe nahi lagta.' Ha, ab btaia. Sirf ap he nahi jisey business krna aata ha! 'Khushi, do you really believe'?' He shook his head, inexplicably grinning, 'Do you even know what you're talking about?' 'Sb pta ha hmain!' She declared loftily, annoyed that he was mocking her.

'Oh really?' He said, his eyes half mast and his voice deeper than before. For some reason, that had her going on high alert. Nothing good ever came about when he looked at her like that. She suddenly became blindingly aware of the fact that she was standing toe-to-toe with Arnavji and her back was to the bed. If he decided to corner her, as he often did, she would fall on the bed and him on top. She hurriedly backed off. Or tried to. His hand was latched onto her arm, pulling close so that she was almost flush with his body. She swallowed, heart in her throat. 'Kia pta ha?' he half whispered, his breath feathering over her ear, making her shiver. She realized how close they were. 'D-ddekhian, ap h-hmain chor dain'' she said, struggling to keep her thoughts coherent. It was hard to think with him so close, his breath brushing her ear and neck. Aur hm isi lia aj itni preshani hain. That thought spurred her and her voice strengthened. 'Aik dafa ho gia so ho gia, ab bar bar ap hmaray sath aisa nahi kr sktay'' He pulled his head back, to her immense relief. He was frowning, though he still looked mildly amused. 'Kia nahi kr skta?' Must he make her say everything? She closed her eyes, feeling the heat climbing up her neck, 'H-hmain dobara se p-pregnant'' She was sure some time had to pass before the first baby arrived but twins bhe to hotay hain na. He laughed. She informed him about the direness of their situation and its consequences and he laughed! She wanted to stamp her foot. Right on his too-handsome, irritating, laughing face. Her fierce glare finally had his effect and he stopped. Barely. He put his hand over his mouth to hide his grin but his eyes were crinkled, so she knew he was still making fun of her. Finally, he cleared his throat and asked politely, 'So, tmharay khayal se tm is lia pregnant ho kun k mai tumharay tmharay qareeb aya?' It was obvious he was mocking her. Khushi had a moment of doubt but she ruthlessly quashed it. She knew how much pleasure Arnavji took in making her uncomfortable; she wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

Arnavji looked at her, laughter and something else lurking in his eyes as she thought of an appropriately witty reply. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav watched Khushi struggle with a comeback and tried to refrain from laughing again. It was just that'she is so innocent. Only his Khushi would think that one got pregnant by close, completely nonsexual proximity. If it were any other girl, he would've thought she was acting but Khushi, he could believe. She would have even crazier ideas regarding other matters of marriage and he had no doubt he would be endlessly entertained by them. He would love to have the time to ferret out those ideas and then, lovingly, set them right. One thing was obvious, though: she didn't want a divorce. Not because of him but because of their supposed child. For a moment, he was tempted to let her run around thinking she was carrying his babe (damn if the idea didn't make him feel extremely possessive) but he couldn't. That would make him no better than that Shyam, lying to her and using her. So, that was out of the question. He would just have to make sure she understood that she wasn't bound to him and then hope she still wanted to stay. But just because he was going to be honest with her didn't mean he wasn't going to use everything to his advantage. So, while she was silently struggling, he moved towards her, capturing her between the bed and himself. He knew the moment all thoughts of replying flew out of her mind; her eyes widened and her breath hitched. For every step he took towards her, she backed up until her legs touched the foot of their bed. He didn't stop until they were almost touching. Instinctively, she backed again and stumbled. He caught her and pulled her in; their eyes met and held. *Rabba Ve* Everything suspended, all movement stopped. There was no one but them in that moment. Her breath came hard, her fingers clenched about his hand, her pulse fluttering.

He lost his focus for a moment or two, drunk on her beauty and her proximity. He wondered what she would do if he kissed her. Faint, probably. She had an unfortunate tendency to do that. Still, it might be a good idea to try it' Some dim voice in his head said that he wasn't going to use her and that meant he shouldn't use their mutual attraction to serve his purpose but that was a very small voice. The larger part of his brain was too committed on the task on hand to remember anything else. He leaned closer, until their lips almost brushed. Her eyes closed, her lashes casting crescent shadows on her cheeks and she leaned forward, almost completing the embrace and he tightened his hand to pull her the rest of the way in' His cell phone rang. That threw cold water on his passion, effectively destroying moment he'd had. He turned away, cursing, and looked around for the damned thing. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 11
The phone rang. Arnavji backed off and Khushi slumped on the bed, all strength going out of her knees. Her heart was racing so hard, she could barely catch her breath. She put a hand to her chest, inexplicably disappointed. She shouldn't be, considering all the trouble this kind of thing had led her into. But' She honestly had been so lost, she hadn't heard the phone at all; it was only Arnavji's vigorous search for it that had made her aware. Apparently a business call was more important than whatever moment they were having. Or not. She watched as Arnavji took out cell phone from his coat's pocket, glanced at it before taking out the battery and throwing the thing back down. Then he strode back towards her, his eyes smoldering.

She backed off, pulling her legs on the bed. Of course that didn't stop him and he came around from the side. When she tried to scramble away, he grasped her wrist and pulled her back in, forcing her to face him as he kneeled. And put his hand on her shoulders to keep her from slumping back. 'Khushi,' His voice was infinitely gentle. 'Tell me what you know about that whole qareeb ana thing.' She eyed him dubiously. He wanted to talk? She wouldn't have been averse to a little more intimacy. She was having a baby already; what would one more mean? She blushed at the boldness of her own thoughts. 'A-aap ye kkiun pooch rahay hain?' She tried to yank her arm free; his grip merely tightened. 'Btao.' He commanded. She gulped, feeling her face flame. But Arnavji wasn't letting her go, so she had to tell him about it. 'Jb hm matric me the tou'' she glanced up at him, and then hurriedly looked down. There was no way she was getting out of this one; she steeled herself. 'To hmari sahaliyun ne btaya tha ke'' 'Ke?' he prompted after a second, raising an eyebrow questioning. 'K-ke'jb aik l-larka aik larki ke'' she swallowed manfully before continuing, 'q-qareeb ata hai to wo'' she blushed, unable to finish the sentence. 'To kia, Khushi?' He leaned in so that he spoke directly in her ear. Her heart jumped in her throat. It occurred to her that she was probably engaging in the same kind of qareeb ana that led to unplanned consequences. 'Wo pregnant ho jati hai!' She finished in a rush, feeling as if her eyebrows were on fire. 'Sirf qareeb anay sa?' He sounded genuinely curious. She'd wondered about that too. If only coming close was the requirement, then she'd been close to' well not many guys but at least Shyamji when he'd hugged her and of course Arnavji. As far as she could figure out, the whole thing about Suhag had to do with emotional intimacy. And she and Arnavji had' well, they'd certainly had their moments. So, logically, it followed that pregnancy only occurred when two people engaged in the kind of intimacy she and Arnavji had indulged in, a few minutes earlier. That was the only thing limited entirely to her and Arnavji.

She couldn't articulate that much to him, though. So she just satisfied herself with 'Jazbaat bhe honay chahiya'wo kia kehtay ap ke zuban me? Feelings!' He looked down at her for a few moments, giving her that look he reserved for her: half cocked eyebrow that made her question her own sanity. 'Feelings'hmm.' He took a deep breath as if steeling himself against a harsh blow that needed to be delivered. 'Khushi' tm pregnant nahi ho.' Arnavji said seriously, his voice gentle. "Kun nahi hai?" Khushi argued. " Hum pregnant hain' naniji, Anjaliji, jiji or sab keh rahy hain k hum pregnant hain' Or aap bhe humary qareeb atay rehtay hain" she continued in a lower voice "... or abi phr sy humaray qareeb aa gy hain, kahen iss say twins tou nahi ho jatay?" she asked herself. Arnav laughed out loud. That was it; he couldn't control himself. She is soo innocent. But he still had to tell her that she was not bound to him, he could not take advantage of her. So he tried to regain his seriousness and said "Khushi' listen, tum pregnant nahi ho'kun k.." he looked at her face, eagerly waiting for him to continue. "'Its complicated, tum Payal say pooch lena'," he finished pursing his lips in an attempt to control himself from laughing again, but he made sure he gave her a serious look. To his relief she looked convinced. But was she'sad? "Pregnant'nahi'hain?" Khushi said, sounding devastated. "Nahi." He said seriously, nodding his head in reassurance. Khushi was shocked; she looked as if something had hit her hard. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav had totally forgotten he was still holding on to Khushi's arms. Seeing the excited look on her face fade away hit him with the hard fact that now she knew she was not bound to him and knowing how horrible a person he had had been to her it wouldn't be shocking if she'd not want to continue the marriage. A lump formed in Arnav's throat. It felt as if something heavy dropped on his chest' DHAK DHAK DHAK DHAK

'it hurt too much knowing she would leave him. He could not bear it; he let go of her arms. She was in too much shock to respond. She deserves the best ' He got up and went to the poolside. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi was still sitting on the bed in a shocked state. She could not believe what had happened. She had been so happy knowing that she was pregnant and now'hum pregnant nahi hain? 'Complicated' Aik tou ye laad governer bhe na! Agr hum pregnant nahi hain tou'kal humari shadi ka contract khatm ' ab hum inhen kia'magr hum nahi torna chatay ye rishta... Humain tou Arnavji sy' DHAK DHAK DHAK DHAK She put a hand on her heart. It hurt her. Tears started coming out of her eyes, She saw Arnav retreat to the poolside. Magr ye tou hum sy kuch kehtay bhe nahi hain'agr in ke dil me hmaray lia kuch hota tou kiya ye hmain roktay mt??? She was confused and so hurt, she couldn't stop crying. She didn't remember when she lost herself to the darkness. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav sat staring in the water, thoughts heavy and heart heavier. He never wanted this, never wanted to leave her, never wanted to even imagine a life without her. He couldn't remember a day he'd spent without thinking, in some manner, about Khushi ' after they'd met, of course. He still remembered his first look of her: standing there, beautiful and confused, wondering how she'd come on stage. And then she'd fallen and he'd caught her. And that was when he'd known: that she was the one for him. Of course, at that time, he'd panicked and blamed her for being there for nefarious purposes; simply because no one else had affected him like she had and he, with his own obsession with material and money, had thought she'd been there to spoil his show. He knew better now; in fact, he'd never truly believed it but still he'd gone on and outed that video, causing her harm and forcing her to move from Lucknow to Dehli.

He'd done her so much wrong and yet, she'd still found it in her heart to forgive him and help him whenever she could. She was just that kind of person: kind and sweet. And he loved her so much, it hurt him. He couldn't imagine a time where he wouldn't. Even after he'd seen her with Shyam and hurting at the betrayal of it, totally shattered, he couldn't hate her. He'd seen her as a weakness but in truth, she was his life. He needed her like he needed air to breath and that was all he knew. The thought of a life without her was' daunting. He had no doubt he could survive ' that was what he did, what he'd done after his parents had abandoned him and he could still do it ' but it wouldn't be easy; he had no illusions. Time wouldn't heal this wound, nor sweeten the parting but' Its not my choice to make! He sighed heavily. She deserves the best, better than me, better than someone who hurt her in innumerable ways, who doubted her and who did everything in his power to make her life hell' He used to think he was a catch for women because of his money and his power but what was all that when he couldn't get the one thing he truly wanted, the only person he needed in his life. But I love her' I should at least tell her that'no, I can't blackmail her emotionally, not again'oh god, I don't want to lose her! He shook his head, to clear his vision; it had gotten a little blurry. What's wrong with you Arnav Singh Raizada? Your tears aren't getting her back' He looked through the windows into the lit up room. She's still inside' His practical side kicked in. This is my last day with her ' unless, of course, she changed her mind. He wiped the tears off his face. I'll just go inside and memorize her so I can remember her for the rest of my life... He was afraid that this was all he would be left with ' memories. It scared him. But the night wasn't getting any younger and if he spent a second out of her company, it was a second wasted. So, he went inside.

Khushi was sleeping on his bed ' in a really uncomfortable manner, her shoes still on and her hands curled about his pillow as if afraid to let go. Her face was tear-streaked and scrunched into a frown. Her hair fell over her face. His hopes lifted for a second then crashed again ' she's probably upset because she's not pregnant, must be hard to accept. He set about the task of righting her, taking off her shoes and easing her in a better position before sitting down beside her. He gently stroked her hair away from her face, his hand automatically cupping her cheek, wanting to ease away whatever plagued her. Her frown eased and her fingers unclenched as she leaned into his touch with an audible sigh. It broke his heart all over again. So trusting' She looked so beautiful and peaceful. He traced his fingers over her features, memorizing each dip and curve, wondering how he would live without her. 'I love you Khushi,' he whispered, 'I always have and I always will, I wish ke me ne ye sb tmhe pehlay keh dia hota' and I'm sorry for everything' I hope ke tm mjhe maaf kr sko'' *Sad Rabba Ve* He got in bed with her and held her hand in his. I won't sleep tonight, he vowed, I'll just sit and look at her. He spent the entire night memorizing her. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' After spending an entire day planning for his final showdown with Arnav, Shyam returned to his hideout. It belonged to one of his clients, someone who owed him some favors. He'd seen the after effects of his surprise ' too bad neither Arnav nor Rani Sahiba were injured. He'd been hoping that it would kill at least one of them but no matter. He was going to get rid of Arnav one way or another and then, he would deal with Rani Sahiba; that wouldn't require much thinking. Then, finally, Khushi will belong to him. He'd been lost in his thoughts as he climbed upstairs and he didn't see the man standing in front of his door until he was within two feet of it. The man was in uniform and as he moved towards him, something clinked ' dammit, he was carrying handcuffs.

Shyam had a split second of thought: should he try to fake it, use his experience as a lawyer to get out of this? Then he made his decision and before the man could do more than grab for him, he turned back and ran the way he came from. The main entrance was being covered by another cop and he turned just in time, taking the back door. It opened into a dark alley that made it easier for the shadier types trying to sneak out. He gently closed the door behind him and turned his back to the main entrance, walking deeper into the shadows. Footsteps behind him told him that they'd guessed his contingency plan. He quickened his steps, taking numerous turns in the smaller streets that crowded this area. It wasn't long, however, before he started running into dead ends and the area kept getting shadier and shadier. If he went any further, the police wouldn't need to arrest him. Again, he was faced with the dilemma: should he go further in or should he let the police take him? There was a crunch behind him and one of the many homeless drunks lurched towards him, almost knocking him to the ground. There was stirring around him as other shapes emerged, all coming towards the rich babufoolish enough to enter their territory. He decided. With a hard shove, he threw the man away from him and punched the other one attempting to pick his pocket. Kicking the third one, he ran back. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''..

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 12
Khushi woke up, confused. Things were a little fuzzy in her head and she wasn't sure where she was. She just remembered feeling really devastated. Yawning, she stretched and realized that there was something heavy resting on her shoulders. She looked down and blinked. Surely that wasn't an arm?

Moving her eyes, she saw that the arm was attached to a body and the body was resting right next to hers, his body slumped awkwardly. Arnavji' Instinctively she yanked herself away from him, blushing at the intimacy of their embrace. Her heart beating fast, she tried to order her thoughts. This meant nothing; he probably fell asleep beside her because she was in his bed and he hadn't wanted to disturb her; he'd shown her this kind of courtesy before. That didn't explain, though, why he wouldn't let go of her hand. She tried to extract her fingers from his grip but he only tightened his hand and held on. She tried again. One by one, she slowly extracted her fingers and quietly backed away. Arnavji frowned in his sleep, and turned towards her. She sat utterly still, wondering if he was waking up; he only murmured something and shifted into a more comfortable position. Sighing with relief, she got off the bed and went to refresh herself. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav blearily blinked his eyes. They burned. A moment of disorientation later, he remembered where he was. His hand tightened around Khushi's' or where her hand should've been. Panic set in. He got up, looking wildly around. Khushi where are you? The sound of water trickling made him realize she hadn't gone anywhere further than the washroom. He slumped back with relief. Dammit, me ne sona nahi tha! He wondered what he would do when the time came. Probably throw himself at her and carry her back'nah, too naederthal' well, he was naerderthal where Khushi was concerned, but that would probably scare her and destroy what little image he had left. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. He rested his head against the wall, closing his eyes. In seconds, he was asleep. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi emerged quietly and glanced around. Arnavji was now sitting up but apparently fast asleep. She tip toed out of the room.

Her heart was heavy, her head full of thoughts and there was only one place she could imagine taking out all her tension: the kitchen. So, even though it was quite early, she went to work on making loads and loads of jaleebis, taking care to make them sugar free. Time flew and by the time she'd finished the last set, her mind was clearer and full of optimism. Come what may, she was ready to face it. Or well, most of it. She didn't think she'd survive the parting but it seemed more and more that the Bali-contingency plan would be required. Perhaps she could take Ammaji, Buaji and Babuji with her; that way, Jiji would have to visit ' and with her, the rest of the Raizada parivar. So, nothing much lost, really. And she could always spy on Arnavji and pretend she hadn't seen him if they came across. She realized she'd eaten half a plate of the crispy jaleebis when she bit her own finger. Hm kia kren Devi Maiya? Hm inhe nahi chorna chahtay' aur Bali to hm bilkul nahi jana chahtay... un ke beghair' She'd wanted to go to Bali, ever since Naniji had provided them with the tickets for honeymoon; of course, Arnavji had torn them. But she had lots of memories associated with them and' She bit her own finger again, realizing with a start that she'd been pacing around the kitchen, finishing off more jaleebis. She forced herself to stop and take a deep, deep breath. Just then, Hari Prekashji came inside. 'Khushi didi, Naniji ka phone tha' wo Anjali Didi or Payal Didi ko le kr wapis a rhe hain. Ap unke lia nashta bana den.' 'Ji Hari Prekashji.' She nodded. It was a good thing Naniji had ordered breakfast; at the rate she was going, she would've ended up eating the entire confection and gotten sick. She got to work. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Anjali was tired, aching and utterly annoyed. And this time, she knew it wasn't hormones; it was the annoying questions Naniji, Buaji and Ammaji, who'd arrived early, kept asking. Questions regarding her husband and his absence. She didn't want to talk about' no, she didn't want to even think about that stupid, lying, cheating, unfaithful bas***d! The scoundrel!!!

Truth was it hurt to think about him and what he'd done. And the fact that he was absent, well, it clearly showed her that their relationship, if there ever had been one, was finished. But just because she'd accepted that didn't mean she was feeling upto the task of explaining the entire thing to Naniji and Payal's family. Besides, it wasn't only her story to tell; Chotay and Khushiji needed to get in their word. Of the three of them, Khushiji had obviously suffered the most at his hands; she'd broken her family's trust, lost her standing, suffered the shame of having married without family's consent and most important of all, Chotay had married her for all the wrong reasons. If anyone deserved to be heard more than her, it was Khushiji. Both families had forgiven her and accepted her but she was innocent and she shouldn't have been blamed in the first place. So, instead of answering their queries, she pretended to fall asleep. Or not really pretend. They'd been kept up all night to check for concussions and the darkness soon turned deeper and a soft snore escaped her lips. Nani turned to see Payal Bitya and Anjali Bitya sleeping on each other. She smiled; poor girls. She trusted Arnav Bitwa would've handled whoever was responsible for this. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav was up and cursing himself for losing time he could've spent with Khushi in useless sleep when De and Payal arrived. In the commotion that followed, with Mamiji going into hysterics again and Buaji bursting into tears about Payal's condition, he didn't get a chance to spend any time with her. They were seated before the table before they realized it and he saw that Khushi had outdone herself; there was so much food that the entire table was filled. Khushi insisted she had done it because she was so happy De and her Jiji were back home but he rather thought she was just plain tense. After all, it was the last day of their contract and' 'she will be leaving me forever! The thought hit him like a jackhammer and whatever appetite he had fled. Instead, he just looked over the table at Khushi, repeating the words over and over. If he said it often enough, perhaps he would believe them.

She wasn't eating either, he noted somewhat dimly; she was playing with dupatta and avoiding his eyes. He felt her eyes on him when he looked away but she hurriedly glanced away when he turned towards her. This was getting stupid. He stood up, intending to whisk her away, whatever means he had to use. Everyone glanced at him and he realized, suddenly, that he'd been having breakfast with an entire group of people. Funny, it hadn't felt that way to him. Mentally shaking his head, he forced himself to focus. 'I'm sorry, kia?' De eyed him pleadingly. He wondered what his family had been talking about. Mamiji spoke up, 'Hello hi, bye bye, e chot to Anjali bitiya ke sr pe awat hai, tmre ser ko ka huat?' He raised an eyebrow, looking at Aakash for guidance. 'Bhai, ye sb poch rahay thay ke is accident ke baray me ap ne kia kia ha'' he glanced apologetically at De, 'aur ye ke Jijaji kahan pe hain? Nani ne unka phone bhe try kia pr wo koi response nahi de rhay...' Arnav looked first at De, then at Khushi; both had surprisingly similar expressions of apprehension. He sighed. It appeared he would have begin recounting the entire thing again for his family's benefit; they would add where appropriate. He sat down again. 'Ap sb breakfast kr len, phir lounge me chal ke baat krte hain.' They all gave him looks with varying degrees of skepticism. 'I said lounge me chal ke baat krte hain; sb bta dun ga, okay?' Khushi gave him a panicked look at that but he ignored it. It was time he did the right thing. Breakfast was finished quickly and both families gathered in the living room. Khushi and De sat side by side on the small sofa and he stood in front of them. As the final person sat down, he began. 'Ap sb ye janna chahtay hain ke ye accident kaisay hua? Aur ye ke Shyam kahan hai?' he looked around, giving them all the defiant, arrogant look he usually reserved for the office, specifically when he was up against a rival. His anger was finally finding a righteous outlet. 'Then listen''

He began by addressing Khushi's family, and with their and Khushi's aid, told the story of Shyam's deception and engagement with Khushi while still married to De. He then explained his own discovery of Shyam's activities and why he married Khushi in such a hurry. He explained everything, even the fact that he made a six month contract with Khushi and that it was over today and that Khushi wasn't pregnant. There was a ringing silence and then a furious outburst where everyone posited their own theories and questions and wondered aloud if he was mistaken about Shyam (Nani) and if the Gupta's had planned this kind of thing to destroy the Raizadas (Mami) and if there was anything that needed to be done to deal with him (Aakash). He let the noise die down before he moved on to the final news and worst (for De) news. 'Hari Prekash, kal security consultants jo cd de kr gai hain, wo or mera laptop le ao.' He waited, surprisingly calm. Perhaps it was because he'd purged himself yesterday or maybe because he was finally exacting vengeance. Didn't matter, the end was the same. When HP arrived, he put on the camera feed and showed it to the rest. 'Police ne uska warrant niklwa lia tha, hopefully wo ab tk arrest ho chukka hoga.' He glanced at De, expecting her to be devastated. He was mistaken though; like him, De too had overcome her emotions; now she just looked angry. It was such a rare look for her, he was surprised at the intensity of it. 'De'' 'Hm theek hain Chotay!' she said shortly. 'Pr Anjali bitya'' Mami began. De took a deep breath and then smiled, though it was a bit strained, 'Hm ne kaha na, hm theek hain. Ap preshan nah on'' 'Aray kaisan theek ho? Hmra to heart broke ho giya ha!' Mami sniffed. Nani looked grave and too hurt; he hadn't expected it but the sight shook him. He realized with a start that he didn't want any oneof his family getting hurt.

'Sanka Devi'' Buaji's tearfilled voice had him turning; she was holding Khushi's face in her hands, tears flowing down her face. Ammaji stood beside her husband, her hand curved around his shoulder, her face a study in anguish. Babuji's face was fixed in that half-paralyzed grin as he patted his lap in some show of emotion. He turned away. The moment was too emotional. This whole scenario was too emotional and he was barely holding it together as it was. Dammit, this is too much. It appeared that he wouldn't be getting any more time with Khushi; she was among people who loved and cared for her. Why would she want to be with him? Depressed, he turned away and stalked back to his room. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 13
An hour or two passed before everyone calmed down enough to get anything coherent out of them. Everyone, even those who hadn't condemned her (Aakashji and Mamaji), apologized profusely and put down Shyamji as a bad-case; then they made her recount everything all over again. Then, they all comforted De. Buaji, Ammaji, Naniji and Anjaliji didn't want her marriage to end; however, they all agreed that ultimately, it was her choice to make. Buaji and Ammaji were quite willing to take her back home with them, saying that they wouldn't let anyone say or do anything against her. While all that was happening, Khushi kept an eye out for Arnavji, hoping he would come back; she wanted to see him before she said anything. Because while he had been telling everyone about their marriage, he'd said something about 'rushing the inevitable'; surely that meant he had wanted to marry her before all that happened. He had even proposed her, sort of. If that was true' DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK.

She would make him apologize for not trusting her and then treating her badly; then she'd forgive him and they'll all live happily ever after; even De, she vowed. But he didn't appear and her heart sank. She was wondering if she'd been wrong to assume that when De addressed her. 'Khushi ji'' She looked at her. 'Je De?' De looked down at her hands, looking very sad. 'Hm jante hain ke chotay ne ap ko sirf che mah tk ka kha tha per hm nhe chahtay ke ap jain! Aap to hmaray parivar ka hisa hain aur ap ke bina' hmari subha roz champi kon kre ga?' She looked up, her eyes glittering, 'Ap mt jain, please!' Khushi's own eyes filled with tears; she dropped to her knees in front of De and took hold of her hands. 'Hum bhe nahi jana cahtay' Magr De, Arnavji tou'' But Anjali cut her off. She gently touched Khushi's face in a loving gesture. "Khushiji, Chotay kehtay nahi hain magr hum sb jantay hain k wow o aap say boht pyaar krtay hain' or app k bina wo nahi reh saktay; aap chotay say aaik dafa baat tou krain' humaray lia, please!" Khushi was not sure what to do but one thing was certain, she had to talk to Arnavji. Finding new purpose, Khushi nodded at Anjali and went upstairs to confront her Laad Governer. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav paced about the room. He wanted to go out and communicate the news that Shyam had been arrested and 'resisting arrest and attacking officers of law' was also added to his considerable list of charges. More than the news though, he wanted to talk to Khushi and tell her how sorry he was for everything he'd done, every hurt he'd inflicted. He'd been wondering if he could just stand back and watch her walk away; now he realized he couldn't do even that without first apologizing to her and then telling her his life would be nothing without her in it. She deserved to know the truth. He was about to walk outside when the object of his thoughts walked in with all her furious glory; she marched in determinedly, coming to stand right in front of him. 'Hm ap se kuch baat krna chahtay hain.' She declared.

His mind short-circuted at the sight of her and he just stared at her dumbly. She tapped her foot impatiently. 'Ap ne suna nahi? Hm ap se kuch baat krna chahtay'umph!' He'd moved, without conscious thought, pulling her in and put his hand on her mouth to silence her. He didn't want to hear that she was leaving him, didn't want to hear her condemn him. 'Nahi Khushi, pehlay me ne tm se kuch kehna hai.' If he told her how sorry he was, maybe, just maybe, she would change her mind. She tried to say something but he overran her, 'Khushi I'm sorry.' She stopped speaking, her eyes wide. He looked into them, and continued. 'Me ne tmharay sath jo kuch kia, me us sb ke lia tm se apologize krna chahta hun. Ever since the start, me ne tmhe bht mistreat kia ha, I've used you and I've hurt you again and again. Is sb ke bawajud tm ne hmesha mere help ke; me ne tmhe iss shadi me force kia, tmhe tmhari family ke zaria blackmail kia, jan ke aisi batain kahin jin se tm hurt ho'' For every crime he listed, he fell in his own esteem; what kind of jerk treated anyone like this? 'Jahan tm pe trust krna tha, me ne tm per shak kia' I have no justification for it. Moreover, mere patni hona k sath tmhe jo rights milte hain wo bhe nahe poray kia' me to tmhe protect bhe na kr ska'' He realized tears were blurring his eyes but he refused to give in again and let her comfort him. She needed to hear this all and see what kind of lowlife he was. So, he blinked them away and repeated, 'I'm sorry Khushi' though mai deserve nahi karta pr please mjhay maaf kr do.' He let her go, all the energy leaving him in a rush. He also wanted to add 'Please mjhe chor kr mat jao,' but his pride and sense of fairness demanded that he didn't. He turned, unable to look at her beautiful face scrunched up in hatred for him, her eyes flashing condemnation. His Khushi, however, had a habit of surprising him - as she did now. 'Bs yehi kehna tha?' She sounded neither disgusted nor condemning; she sounded angry. It irritated him; he'd just bared his soul in front of her. This was all she had to say? He whirled around. 'Kia mtlb hai tmhara?'

She folded her arms, raising her chin defiantly. 'Mtlb ye ke ap hamesha ke tarah ab bhe adhuri baat keh rhai hain.' He copied her gesture. 'Excuse me? Me ne tm se jo kuch kehna tha, sb keh dia hai.' 'Sb se zaruri baat to kahi nahi' sirf ye bta dia ke hm pr kitni ziadti ke' hmain bhe pta hai aap ne hmaray sath kia kia, koi nai baat nahi hai.' She cocked her head in very feminine gesture, somehow conveyed that she expected to be coaxed. 'Hm kuch aur sunna chahtay hain.' This woman was beyond confusing; she was frustrating. He stalked forward, his anger getting the better of him. 'Aur kia sunna chahti ho?' She took a hurried step back, nearly falling but he grabbed her arm and pulled her in against his body; she wasn't going to stay, why was she torturing him? She took a look at his face and her eyes widened. He shook her. 'Aur kia sunna chahti ho??' He demanded, louder. "Humary jany say aap ko kya farak parhta hai?" she demanded righ back. What the' I just poured my heart out to her and she still needs to know k Kya farak parhta hai? Arnav lost it - he grabbed her arms and shook her. 'Dammit Khushi!' he yelled, 'Farak parhta hai!!' He stared at her furiously. But Khushi wasn't backing down either, not today; she had to know and she had to make him admit she mattered. "Kiun?" she demanded again. "Kiun K'" Say it Arnavji' her heart beat a fast tattoo. "Kiun k'" Suddenly, he did not know how to express himself. All his anger vahished in a blink; he'd never said anything like that to anyone, didn't know how to phrase it' no, I have to say it' but why??? It was just like a woman to expect him to articulate every single thing. She knows it already, why is she asking me to say something she knows I can't? It had been easier to tell it to her when she was asleep; that way, she couldn't repudiate him' and he could keep his pride intact. He opened his mouth, groping for words but they wouldn't come. She was staring at him expectantly, waiting for those beautiful magic words.

His grip loosened on her arms. Khushi gazed at him for a few more moments, waiting, hoping, willing him to continue' Still he didn't say anything. She backed up, trying to mask the hurt she felt. She had come here, thinking she would finally hear him admit it' nnfortunately, his silence left her no choice. Before he could react, Khushi turned around and ran out of the room. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Arnav stood paralyzed as he watched his Khushi run away' By the time he got it together enough to go follow her, Khushi had left with Buaji, who'd been waiting for her at the door. She's gone! It hit like a mallet. He wanted to breakdown and cry; why? Why couldn't he say it? And why did she have to hear him say it? She already knew it, she had to know she was his life, his everything' He stared at the doorway, unable to comprehend. He turned around to face his family; De, Nani and everyone else looked sad and disappointed in him; and when he tried talk to De, she shut him up with a simple "Bs chotay'" That night, Arnav couldn't sleep. He just sat on his couch, staring at Khushi's bed, lost in his thoughts, wondering what he should've done, what he would do now' She left'She's gone' I lost her' its too late' why couldn't I say it? The questions spun in his head. He felt sick' and then' One last ray of hope hit him. I won't sign the papers! He would've preferred not to send them either, but he'd given her his word. I won't be the one to break off this marriage. I'll just send 'em over to her' if she wants it over, she'd have to do it herself' That thought left him exhausted; what had he done to endear himself? Nothing. And if she didin fact decide that she wanted it over with him' The next morning, he felt too low and tired to do anything, so he missed office. He just sat on Khushi's side of the bed, with her dupatta (she had left in a hurry without taking anything) wrapped around his hand.

He'd called Aman to have the divorce papers delivered to Khushi's place, much to man's shock. "Par sir Khushi bhabi tou'" "Just do what you're told." He had replied bluntly, too tired to even snap. He'd also refused to go down for breakfast. De, understanding his state of mind, had his breakfast sent to his room but he didn't eat. He felt like a zombie; with Khushi gone, he felt like the living dead, a soulless body. She was the reason he lived and with her gone, he had no desire to continue doing so. He lay down and stared at the ceiling. Stars hung from it. She loved these silly stars' inexplicably, his eyes filled with tears; he made no move to wipe them off. Instead, he thought of his Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada, remembering each nuance of her person, each memory a gem; after all, memories were all he was left with. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Anjali went to Chotay's room to find him lying on Khushiji's pink side of the bed and with her dupatta warpped around his hand, staring listlessly at the stars hanging overhead. He didn't speak or respond when she sat next to him. Close to, she was his tears and wiped them off; new ones filled his eyes. She swallowed the lump in her throat and gently kissed his forehead. He hugged her and cried like a child in her lap. She remembered this state of his; it was similar to the time when their parents had died' only then he had been lying ontheir bed. It hurt her to see her brother like this but Khushiji had made it clear that she would not come back - not unless Chotay told her what she wanted to hear; it was her zidd and in a way, it was justified. Anjali decided she would point this out to Chotay when he was more stable. But next day he still refused to come downstairs for breakfast; so she had it sent upstairs, only to find that he still refused to eat as well. When she tried talking to him, he wouldn't unlock his door or pick up his cell phone.

It worried her to no end. What if something happened to him and they didn't find out until it was too late??? She had to fix things' they suffered because of me! Ineed to fix this! She had Payalji call Khushiji, only to find that she had received the divorce papers and now she most definitely would not come back unless he said it. By the third day, Anjali had had enough. "Nani, Chotay bhookay reh reh k apnay aap ko kuch kr lain gy' aap locksmith ko bulwain, hum zaberdasti inn sy baat karain gy. Ye koi tareka nahi hai!" She finally declared. The door was opened and she found him still lying on the bed in the same state; only now he had three days beard and dark circles added to the mix. He didn't respond when they crashed into his room, nor when she forced him to eat. He just chewed on it, lost in his own world. That's it, this has to end today! She came up with a plan. She sat beside Chotay, took out her phone, called Khushiji and put her on loud speaker. "Hello' Anjaliji?" Khushiji spoke. Her voice was low and she sounded really sad. Arnav sat up straight and stared at the phone, his expression wild. Anjali spoke, "Ji Khushiji, hum aap sy' Khushiji aap wapis aa jyn, hum sb aap k begair nahi reh saktay, Chotay aap k begair nahi reh nahi saktay." There was a long pause on the other side; Arnav was staring at the phone eagerly waiting for the reply. "'Anjaliji'Hum bhe'' She wavered, then made her voice firm, 'Nahi Anjaliji hum tab tk wapis nahi aan gy jb tk Arnavji humain Khud nahe lyny ayn gy or'jb tk wo humary samnay ye maan nahi lyty k wo' k unko kiun farak parhta hai!" Khushi voice was sad but determined. Well, it got the exact reaction Anjali was hoping for. Arnav snached the phone, "Khushi'" he whispered, his voice husky. There was another long pause; apparantly Khushiji was going through the same pain as her Chotay was. "Ar...Arnavvji'" she finally spoke.

"Khushi'" he said again but the way Khushiji responded made it clear to Anjali that it had meant more than just that. "Nahe Arnavji' aap ko humse kehna ho ga". Arnav stared at the phone as if it held his answer but it didn't and he couldn't say anything. So Khushi shut the phone; Arnav flinched. Anjali felt sorry for Chotay and she wanted to comfort him, but Khushiji was right. Chotay had to learn to give and take love and to express that love. Still, her eyes filled with tears ' all these emotions combined with all those hormones had turned her into a watering pot. "Chotay'"Anjali said, touching his face gently. "Hum ny tum sy kaha tha na k jb dil ma kuch baat ae, jesay ay wesy bol dena chaheya'waran shaid'' She swallowed, took a deep breath and continued, 'her pal puary tarekay sy jeena chaheya Chotay' kiun ka pata nahi chalta k kon sa pal aakhri ho'. Or hum jesy sab sy zaida pyar karatay hain, jo humary sab sy kareeb hota hai, usay kabhi jany nahi dena chaheyay' kesi bhe halat me' or kabhi koi baat kitni bhe bewakoofi wali lagay, tb bhe sirf apnay dil ki sunni chaheyay'" Chotay stared at her with a kind of desperate fervor in his eyes. She wiped the fresh tears off his cheeks and kissed his forehead. "Acha bas' bas' tum tyar ho jao or phir Khushiji ko wapis ly k aao..." '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 14
Akash walked in his room, Payalji was sitting by the dresser, combing her beautiful long hair. She truned around as she heard him enter and smiled in welcome; but he could see the sadness and worry behind it. He slowly walked over to her, "Payalji'" he said. "Ji Akashji'" she asked quietly. "Aap' perayshan na hoon, De ny mujay bataya hai k aap ny Khushiji sy baat ki the'Wo upper gy hain bhai to leyny, hum Khushiji ko wapis le k rain ge." He promised her. "Magr Akashji'' Payal sounded depressed, 'Khushi Arnavji sy bohat naraz hai' or Buajji unko us k kareeb nahi jany dyn ge' wo khud bhe nahi baat kray ge un sy' Hum janntay hain usay."

"Magr Payalji, bhai ka Khushiji sy khud baat krna zaruri hai'" "Hum ye bhe jantay hain'" They both looked at each other. They had to come up with a plan to get Arnav to Khushi. They owed their own happiness to Arnav and Khushi for making them realize how much they loved each other. And if there ever was a time to return that favor, it was now. "Payalji' ap Khushiji ko bahr kaheen bula lein, or mai bahi ko wahan ly aaon ga..?" "Nahi Akashji, Khushi ko pata lg jy ga' wo nahi ae ge'humain kuch or sochna ho ga" Akaash looked at his wife. He couldn't imagine having to live without her' he couldn't even wait a few days when his family had asked him to restrain from seeing her before marriage on the New Year's Eve' His head snapped up as he came up with a brilliant idea. "Haan ye sahi ho ga!" He spoke his thoughts aloud. Payal looked questioningly at him. So he told her his brilliant plan, Payal's face bloomed into a smile and she hugged him happily. Aakash sighed in pleasure; it felt good to be a hero. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav walked down the staircase with De escorting him; she had made him shave and dress up properly. Now he looked and almost felt like his usual self' De was right when she told Khushi "Chotay aap k bagair nahi reh saktay" because he definitely couldn't live without her. She was his wife, his to love and cherish' and love her he did, with every fibre of his being. He had been too arrogant (and honestly, quite stupid) before. Even now, he was afraid to say it to her face, afraid (in a really foolish superstitious sort of way) that saying it aloud might break the magic. But it was now or never. He couldn't bear another second without her and if that meant he had to tell her how he felt, then that was what he would do, tell her. He was really grateful to De for making he realize it, or he would still have been lying on the bed crying like a child. His family was gathered in the living room, waiting fot them. Nani and even Mamiji smiled encouragingly at him, Mamaji patted him on the back. "Jao bitwa" he said smiling. De touched his chin lovingly, looking straight in his eyes, "Sab theek ho jy ga'bas jo dil mai ho wok keh dena" she smiled. Arnav nodded. That was exactly what he would be doing. He turned to Akash; he and Payal were going with him to keep her family occupied while he talked to Khushi. Akash hugged him. "Chalain bhai'" he said smiling; Payal nodded at him encouragingly. He took a deep breath.'lets go.'

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. They reached the Gupta house all too soon. On their way here, Payal and Akash had briefed Arnav about the plan. It was stupid, really, but it seemed to be the only way he could get to talk with Khushi peacefully, so he agreed. Besides, it had worked once; it would probably work again. And if it didn't' He suddenly found himself considering the pros and cons of kidnapping Khushi. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Payal and Akash went through the front doors while Arnav waited outside for their all-clear signal. Buaji and Amaji were surprised at their sudden appearance but Payal insisted she was missing them. They all sat down, and started random talking; Buaji told them Khushi had gone to the neighbours to distribute all the jalibees she had made, because she'd been so upset. Akash signaled Payal, she got up and said "Hum chai ly k atay hain'" Payal put water for chai on the stove and then walked into their old bedroom. Making sure no one could see her, she opened the window doors wide open and blnked the light on and off a few times. Then she went back outside shutting the door behind her. Payal entered the livingroom with tea when Akash's phone rang once. It was Arnav, reassuring them that he was in position. Akash smiled and sipped his tea. When that was done, he got up. "Hmain chalna chaheyay'" "Ae babwa khana to khatay jao... Sanka Devi bhe anay wali ho ge." Buaji insisted. "Kher hai Buaji, hum Khushi sy phone py baat kr lain gy' darasal Akashji humain' ghar ma kisi ko pata nahi hai k hum yahan hain'" Payal said, giving Buaji a look that clearly told Akash she was talking about his mother. Clever of her, it was the only way Buaji would let them go. Aakash nodded in agreement. Clearly Buaji got it exactly as Payal was trying to convey it. She walked over to Akash and smiled. "Jeyat raho babuwa..." They bid goodbyes and walked out the door smiling. Mission Accomplished. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Khushi walked in the house, munching on a jalebi, her head filled with thoughs. She was really upset. Why couldn't Arnavji just say it'? It killed her to stay away from him and to know he was suffering. His voice had made it clear to her that Jiji hadn't been lying when she had told her that Arnavji was not eating or going to the office.

She knew in her heart that he loved her but' she'd been hurt in the past by assuming that' at Dewali and later, on Jiji's mehndi' no, she had to hear him say it, she had to be sure this time. She would not be hurt again. She wiped the tears that'd filled her eyes and kept munching on her treat and barely noticed Buaji and Ama sitting in the lounge drinking tea. Nor did she respond when Buaji spoke. "Kahay inti dair laga de Sanka Devi? Payaliya ae the'ae leao' ae phir khiyalon ma ghum hai' qasm se, ye larki hmain preshan karae rhe hai." She went to her bedroom and stood in the doorway, wondering what she should do. Sleep wouldn't help; she always woke up expecting to see Arnavji around the room (kiun nahi kuch bolay app, Arnavji?). Well, she'd just have to figure something out. Maybe she would sew something' It was dark in there but she shut the door behind her anyway and, after a moment's consideration, locked it. She didn't want to hear Buaji or Amaji go on about how worried they were about her (Ammaji) and how they were going to make Arnavji pay for hurting her (Buaji). She wanted to make him pay too but she would be just as happy if he just told her that he loved her. She chewed on the jalebi some more and walked over to turn the lights on, not knowing what awaited her. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav was standing behind Khushi's bed, in case Buaji or Khushi's mother entered the room. He heard footsteps approaching and ducked so that he was well hidden, his eyes tansfixed on the door. Please be Khushi' he thought. It was as if his prayers were answered. It was Khushi, lost in her thoughts, munching on a jalebi. She didn't notice him as he straightened up; instead she just turned around, locked the door and went on to turn on the lights. Four days'. He was looking at her after four days, the longest he had ever gone without her. Arnav's heart started racing' DHAK DHAK DHAK DHAK' and he forgot why he was here. He shook his head, forcing himself to think. She will freak out if she see's me' I need to be close to her so I can stop her from screaming. He walked up behind her. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''. Khushi turned on the lights and turned around' to find herself staring at a wall' of really fine clothes' she looked up. The moment suspended, everything stopped. *Rabba ve* Their eyes met. Khushi stood paralyzed; the jalebi dropped from her hand. They both stood transfixed, staring at each other' She could not believe her eyes; maybe she was dreaming' after all, she hadbeen

thinking about him. But this dream was so real... She slowly blinked her eyes to see if he would vanish but no, he still stood there, looking at her, his eyes saying all she wanted to hear. And then suddenly she realized it really was him. She snapped back to her senses. "Aap'" she said; the words came louder than she'd expected. It was as if Arnavji was being dragged back to reality too, because he straightend up a little. Still looking at her, though. "Aap yahan'inti raat ko'humray kamray mai" she asked, each question louder than the last as panic hit her. Ye kia ho rha hai??? Buaji ne inhe andar kaisay anay dia? Arnav stepped forward. "Shhh Khushi'aahista bolo." "Kuin ahista bolain? Hum ny aap ko kaha tha k hum ny aap sy koi baat nahi krni' or aap yahan aae kesy?" She looked around; her eyes fell on the open window. She turned around, her eyes wide with shock "Khirki sy?" '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Chapter 15
She was too loud. Someone would hear her and then, he'd never get the chance to talk to her. Aaik tou ma iss sy baat krny aaya hun or upper sys y mery py charhai kr rahi hai.He put his hand on her mouth, pinning her to the wall. "Shhh'shut up Khushi'' he whispered furiously. It was just like her; here he was, sneaking inside her house to talk to her and she was yelling so that he couldn't do that. 'Tumhary ghar walon ko pata lg jy ga or phir ma tum sy jo baat krne aya hun nahi kr paoon ga". She quit struggling or trying to talk. He slowly removed the hand from her mouth. There was a long pause; then Khsuhi spoke, "Kia baat krni hai?" she asked slowly. His heart beat unbearably fast and he felt his calm faade crack; he immediately struggled to keep his emotions contained and he took a deep, calming breath. De's words echoed in his head, kabhi koi baat kitni bhe bewakoofi wali lagay, tb bhe sirf apnay dil ki sunni chaheyay' well, his heart was screaming at him to tell her exactly how he felt. "I'm sorry Khushi'" he finally spoke. Because, truthfully, that was how he felt: guilty and needing to apologize over and over. 'Aur?' She prompted gently. Aur kia? He thought frustratedly. She took a look at his face and her expression closed off, her eyes suddenly losing their brightness. She tried to move away. He grabbed her arms to stop her escape. 'Dammit Khushi, aur kia sunna chahti ho??' He demanded. She didn't meet his eyes but whispered a pained 'A-arnavji'' He had had enough of her silly nonsense. 'Aur kia sunna chati ho? Ke me tmharay beghair je nahi skta? Ke tmharay janay ka sochta hon to lagta hai me mar jaun ga??? Ya ye sunna chahti ho ke me tm se pyaar krta hun???' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' One moment she was trying to hide that she'd let him hurt her again, by raising and then dashing her hopes. The next, she was struggling to make sense of what she was hearing. Surely he hadn't just told her he loved her' she looked up at him. He meant all of it; she could see that on his face, in his eyes. She tried speaking again. 'Arnavji''

'Dammit Khushi'' he interrupted, 'I love you! You hear me? I love you! Aik pal nahe reh sakta tmhare bina!' He stared at her furiously. *Rabba Ve* Each word was like a bullet in its heated intensity and yet, she'd never heard anything more beautiful. It left her speechless. For so long she had waited for him to admit it, she couldn't believe she was hearing it. He loved her. He loved her. He loved her!!! Her heart sang for joy and she suddenly felt years younger.. Arnavji hm se piyar krte hain' she wanted to dance with happiness. Her eyes sought her pati and she felt her smile fade. He looked so dejected. With a flash of insight, she realized that he still expected her to not forgive him. Ye nahi jante ke hm bhe... He'd pronounced himself guilty and he expected her to do the same. She cupped his face, 'Hum bhe aap sy bohat pyaar krtay hain Arnavji...' 'Khushi'' He pulled her in and buried his face in her hair. She wrapped her arm around him. When he finally pulled back, his face had relaxed as if years of strain had been taken off. His eyes filled with that same previously unnamed emotion; she knew what it was now: love. He reached out with his hand, gently tracing her face, before cupping her neck. She found herself leaning in towards him He bent forward until their faces were close enough to touch. It was as if everything around them had vanished, nothing mattered, he loved her and she loved him. DHAK DHAK DHAK DHAK The touch of his hand, his closeness, her own response to him, it all overwhelmed her until just being held wasn't enough. Her fingers curled on his coat, wanting to absorb some essence of him into her. Her breath started coming faster. His pupils flared even as his fingers tightened. 'Khushi'' His voice had turned into a husky growl. 'Arnavji'' She whispered back, her own just as husky. She pushed herself up on tiptoes, wanting nearer. He leaned down, their lips brushing' KNOCK KNOCK "Aee Sanka Devi darwaza Kholo" Reality came crashing back with Buaji's loud voice. Arnav eyed the door murderously as he stifled his curses. Damn them all for ruining the moment' again! Khushi was looking at him for guidance. Regretfully, he let her go. "Me bahr nikl jaun to tum darwaza khol dena'' He whispered.

"Aee sanka Devi darwaza kahay nahi khol rahi?" Buaji yelled again knocking the door. "Par aap'" she began but he put finger on her lips "I'm taking you home." "Magr'" she began again but he cut her off. "Jao darwaza kholo, ma ata hun" With that, he walked over to the window and climbed out. Khushi watched him go, then went over to open the door. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Back outside, Arnav called Akash. "Yeah, where's the car? Haan Khushi maan gy hai, hum wapis aa rahy hain' keys kahan hain? K, haan aa k baat krtay hain'" he paused, then added, 'And Akash' thanks.' He found the car parked in front of Happyji's shop; then he walked over to the front doors of the Gupta House. The hardest part was over; he didn't think her family would stop him, especially if Khushi agreed to willingly come with him. Still' Deep breaths' you can do this, Khushi maan gy hai' He found the keys hidden in the pot on the front door of the Gupta house and put them in his pocket. Finally, he knocked on the door. Khushi's mother opened the door. She started at the sight of him. "Jiji'Arnav btwa aya hai'' she called, relief clear in her voice, 'Aao beta, aao' jetay raho." She said, flustered, as he touched her feet. Buaji entered the room with Khushi behind her. Arnav looked over her and she now realized what Arnavji was upto. Buaji look at him, her expressions a mixture of happiness and anger. But before anyone could say anything, Arnav spoke. "Mai Khushi ko leny aaya hun'" he stated quietly. Buaji turned to look at Khushi. To his surprise, her eyes glinted as her face took on a determined expression. Oh no, he thought. "Buaji,' she spoke, folding her arms and turning her face away, 'Aap inn sy keh dyn hum in ke saath tb tk nahi jyn gy'' she glanced at him, her eyes glowing mischeviously, ''jb tk ye aap sab k samnay ye keh nahi dyty k ye hum sy pyaar krtay ahin or humary begair reh nahi sakty!" She smiled her challenge at Arnav. Ha, ab aya na maza! It had occurred to her that she was letting him off too easy. So she was getting back at him. Amaji and Buaji blushed. "Kia ol fol bol rahi ha Sanka Devi'' Buaji glared at her, then smiled apologetically at Arnav, 'Maaf karna babwa' Ye'" but Arnav cut her off with a smile. Well played, Khushi' but she'd challenged the wrong man. "It's okay Buaji.' He turned to Khushi and gave her his most insincere smile; her smile vanished and she straightened. 'Khushi'" he turned towards her and took a step closer. If that's what you want darling than that's exactly what you'll get'Arnav smiled and then kneeled. What is he doing..? Khushi thought.

Arnav took her hand in his and kissed it. "Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada' mai tum sy bohat pyaar krta hun or tumhary begair je nahi sakta' tum ghar wapis aa jao, please." Khushi turned blood red, too shocked to respond. Satisfied, he got up and dusted himself. He around to Khushi's mom and Buaji, who too were in a state similar to Khushi's, their faces red, mouths hanging open. After all, who could imagine the great Arnav Singh Raizada acting love struck? Arnav grabbed Khushi's hand, "Chalain? Ya utha k ly k jana paray ga?" he asked. She didn't reply so he assumed she'd have no objection to that idea. Bidding her family goodnight, he carried her to his car and took his wife home. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Alternative Ending (its in contiuntion with chapter 12) [the dialogues are more or less the same]
Precap:
After he told the family the whole truth...

Alternative ending:
An hour or two passed before everyone calmed down enough to get anything coherent out of them. Everyone, even those who hadn't condemned her (Aakashji and Mamaji), apologized profusely and put down Shyamji as a bad-case; then they made her recount everything all over again. Then, they all comforted De. Buaji, Ammaji, Naniji and Anjaliji didn't want her marriage to end; however, they all agreed that Khushi's choice was the final one. Buaji and Ammaji were quite willing to take her back home with them, saying that they wouldn't let anyone say or do anything wrong with her. While all that was happening, Khushi kept an eye out for Arnavji, hoping he would come back; she wanted to see him before she said anything. Because while he was telling everyone about their marriage, he'd said something about 'rushing the inevitable'; surely that meant he had wanted to marry her before all that happened. He had even proposed her, sort of. If that was true' DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK. She would make him apologize for not trusting her and then treating her badly; then she'd forgive him and they'll all live happily ever after. Even De, she vowed.

But he didn't appear and her heart sank. She was wondering if she'd been wrong to assume that when De addressed her. 'Khushi ji'' She looked at her; Naniji sat beside her, looking grave. 'Je De?' De looked down at her hands, looking very sad. 'Hm jante hain ke chotay ne ap ko sirf che mah tk ka kha tha per hm nhe chahtay ke ap jain! Ap to hmaray parivar ka hisa hain aur ap ke bina' hmari subha roz champi kon kre ga? Ap mt jain, please!' Khushi's eyes filled with tears; she dropped to her knees in front of De and took hold of her hands. 'Jaisay hm ap ko chor ke ja saktay hain! Ap fikr na kren De, hm kahin nahi ja rhay. Che mah ka contract unhun ne kia tha, hm ne nahi!' De gently touched her face in a loving gesture, her sweet smile saying all that needed to be said. Finding new purpose, Khushi went upstairs to find her Laad Governer and confront him. He'd been wondering if he could just stand back and watch her walk away; now he realized he couldn't do even that without first apologizing to her and then telling her how much he loved her and how his life would be nothing without her in it.

Is sb ke bawajud tm ne hmesha mere help ke. Me ne tmhe is shadi me force kia, tmhe tmhari family ke zaria blackmail kia, jan ke aisi batain kahin jin se tm hurt ho'' For every crime he listed, he fell in his own esteem; what kind of jerk treated his beloved like this? 'Jahan tm pe trust krna tha, me ne tm per shak kia' I have no justification for it. Moreover, mere patni hona k sath tmhe jo rights milte hain wo bhe nahe poray kia' me to tmhe protect bhe na kr ska'' He realized tears were blurring his eyes but he refused to give in again and let her comfort him. She needed to hear this all and see what kind of lowlife he was. So, he blinked them away and repeated, 'I'm sorry Khushi' though me deserve nahi karta pr please mjhay maaf kr do.' He let her go, all the energy leaving him in a rush. He also wanted to add 'Please mjhe chor kr mat jao,' but his pride and sense of fairness demanded that he didn't. He turned, unable to look at her beautiful face scrunched up in hatred for him, her eyes flashing condemnation. His Khushi, however, had a habit of surprising him. As she did now. 'Bs yehi kehna tha?' She sounded neither disgusted nor condemning; she sounded angry. It irritated him; he'd just bared his soul in front of her. This was all she had to say? He whirled around. 'Kia mtlb hai tmhara?' She folded her arms, raising her chin defiantly. 'Mtlb ye ke ap hamesha ke tarah ab bhe adhuri baat keh rhai hain.' He copied her gesture. 'Excuse me? Me ne tm se jo kuch kehna tha, sb keh dia hai.' 'Sb se zaruri baat to kahi nahi' sirf ye bta dia ke hm pr kitni ziadti ke' hmain bhe pta hai ap ne hmaray sath kia kia, koi nai baat nahi hai.' She cocked her head in very feminine gesture, somehow conveyed that she expected to be coaxed. She whispered, 'A-arnavji'' 'Ye sunna chahti ho ke me tmharay beghair je nahi skta? Ke jb tmhe chot ati hai to mjhe dard hota hai?? Ke tmharay janay ka sochta hon to lagta hai me mar jaun ga??? Ya ye sunna chahti ho ke me tm se piyar krta hun???' '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Khushi's ears were whistling. She couldn't believe what he was saying. He meant all of it; she could see that on his face, in his eyes. She tried speaking again. 'Arnavji'' 'Dammit Khushi'' he interrupted, 'I love you! You hear me? I love you! Aik pal nahe reh sakta tmhare bina!' He stared at her furiously. Each word was like a bullet in its heated intensity and yet, she'd never heard anything more beautiful. It left her speechless. Unfortunately, it also left Arnavji to interpret her silence the wrong way. He let go of her arms, nearly pushing her away and turned his back on her. Again. His shoulders slumped and he threw his head down dejectedly. Khushi stared at him for a few moments, trying to get her breathing under control. She had come here, thinking she would have to fight with him to stay and found that he loved her. He loved her. Her heart sang for joy and she suddenly felt years younger.. Arnavji hm se piyar krte hain' she wanted to dance with happiness. Her eyes sought her patiand she felt her smile fade. He looked so dejected. She realized with a jolt that he still expected her to leave. Ye nahi jante ke hm nahi ja rhay... He'd condemned himself to the gallows and he expected her to do the same. Well, she wouldn't be Khushi if did that, now would she? She put a hand on his shoulder. He didn't respond. 'Ap ne hmari baat to suni he nahi'' She let a smile color her voice, 'Hm to ap ko ye btanay ai thay ka che mah ka contract ap ne kia tha, hm ne nhe. Ab app jo marzi kar len, hm yahan se nahi ja rhay.' He whipped around, pulling her in towards him. She braced her hands on his chest and looked up at him. His eyes were filled with that same previously unnamed emotion; she knew what it was now: love. He reached out with his hand, gently tracing her face, before cupping her neck. She found herself leaning in towards him He bent forward until their faces were close enough to touch. 'Good'' he whispered, his breath fanning over her face. ''wrna mjhe tmhe tmhare ghar se kidnap krna prta.' She didn't say anything, too busy sorting out the sensations bombarding her. The touch of his hand, his closeness, her own response to him, it all overwhelmed her. Suddenly, just being held wasn't enough.

He leaned down, their lips brushing' 'Chotay, Khushiji'' De's voice right outside their door broke the spell. Arnavji cursed under his breath as he pushed her back and turned towards the door. De looked at them apologetically, 'Ammaji aur Buaji ap ka intezar kr rhe hain Khushiji' 'Ap unhe keh den hm busy hain!' Arnavji said, latching a hand to her arm and pulling her in. Khushi felt a silly smile bloom on her face that wouldn't go, try as she might. She wrapped her own arm around his, leaning against him. He looked highly obliged, a soft smile touching his lips. 'Buaji aur Ammaji hmain sath le jana chtay hain'' He twichted like he wanted to physically repudiate that sentiment; she tightened her hold, glancing at him from beneath her lashes, 'Hm nahi ja rhay per un ko chal ke btana to paray ga.' He looked down at her, frowning; she smiled. He rolled his eyes but let her lead him downstairs. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

FF: Arnav and Khushi On their way to Happily ever after Epilogue
Shyam was arrested and placed in jail while his lawyer fought for him. Arnav hired the best prosecuters money could buy to ensure that they would get him the maximum sentence. He also had De sign the divorce papers and then had them delivered to Shyam's cell. It was a vengeful action, perhaps, but he then he was a vengeful man. He also arranged for a family trip to Bali, after hearing Khushi's stupid (but cute) contingency plan; to surprise her and somewhat make up for his mistakes, he also planned a private wedding ceremony, particapted in by all their family members so that Khushi's family could give her away with their blessings. So now, Ammaji, Buaji and Payal took Khushi away to their honeymoon suite and he was left alone to contemplate what it would mean to finally, truly, make Khushi his wife. DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK' He'd managed to refrain from touching her (too much) and taking it too far but barely. But tonight, there would be no holding back' It was then that panic set in. He couldn't breathe, his heart beat so fast he was sweating by simply standing and his ears whistled. He downed several glasses of water without the slightest change, and then paced the length of the main hall.

It was imperative, absolutely imperative, that he perform exceptionally tonight. What if I can't??? He swallowed. No, I must' It was his deep dark secret but ASR, owner of AR Company, the most eligible bachelor of the year and the man sophisticated society craved' he was as much of a virgin as his Khushi. At first, it had been because he'd been too driven to make his name and avenge himself to be distracted. Later, he'd simply not been interested. Everyone assumed that he'd been sexually involved in Lawanya but truth was, he'd simply played along with her because she'd kept petty fortune hunters and other such dangerous ladies away from him. The most he'd done was a chaste kiss and a few hugs. But tonight' his stomach knotted in tension anew and he started pacing faster. Someone patted his shoulder and he realized with a jolt that Aaskash was pacing along side him. He was also saying something. 'Excuse me?' 'Me ne kaha k Bhai, nervous hona bilkul normal baat hai.' Aakash said. 'Nervous? Kon nervous? Main to nervous nahi hun'' Arnav stopped and picked another glass of water, 'I'm fine, perfectly fine.' Aakash hid his grin, then put out a hand to stop him from glugging more water. 'Green tea lain, wo relax krti hai.' 'I said I'm fine, dammit!' he snapped, putting the glass down and running his fingers through his hair agitatedly. Then, 'Waqai relax krti ha?' Aakash nodded and handed him a cup. Arnav took a big sip then choked. It was hot! He took a more careful sip, forcing himself to breathe deeper. To his surprise, he did feel relaxed. He eyed the cup thoughtfully, 'Aakash' Khushi ke lia bhe green tea bhijwa do.' Aakash smiled knowingly and went away. Arnav leaned against the numerous tables littering the hall and sipped his green tea thoughtfully. He was unnecessarily worrying himself. So what if he hadn't ever had sex before? That didn't mean he couldn't do it. He was ASR, dammit and he did what he wanted. And if he wanted to have sex with his wife, then he would damn well have it! NK's loud and completely annoying 'Nannav!' rang in the hall. His head snapped up as NK sauntered up to him, a mischevious grin lighting his face. 'Umm'mmn' He wiggled his eyebrows and leaned beside him. 'How're you feeling, hmm?' Arnav raised his eyebrows; NK ignored him, 'You know, Nannav, Khushi Bhabhi to aik dm' wo kia kehtay hian' chust lag rahi hian!' 'Chust nahi mast, NK bhaiya,' Aakash's amused voice floated in as he walked back in. 'Oh, right, sorry! Mast lg rhe hain!' 'Shut up, NK.' Arnav snapped.

'Chillax Nannav' you'll do great!' He winked and patted his shoulder before moving away. Aakash shook his head, smiled at Arnav and followed him out. Arnav drained the teacup and was about to leave as well when Mama called, 'Arnav bitwa, zara aik minute. Tm se kuch baat krne hai.' He was sure he heard a giggle somewhere but no one else was in sight. 'Je?' 'Aik minute, aik minute, itni bhe ka jaldi hai, hmm?' Mama seated himself comfortably in front of him. 'Wo ka ha na k tm bhe hmara batay ke tra ho; jahan Aakash bitwa, wahin tm. Aisn me hmri duty hwat ke tmko'o ka kehtay hain?... han, guide kren.' There was something in his tone that raised Arnav's guard. 'Guide kren? Ks cheez ke baray me?' 'Aray suhag ke bara ma, aur ka?' Mama winked, 'Tmra walid to ha koi nahi' to ab ye kam hmari sr he aya na'' he nodded wisely; then continued talking' About sex, coitus interruptus, sudden erectile dysfunction and gods knew what else, all of it in Hindi, all of it derived straight from the Kama Sutra. Arnav wished he could pull his ears out. He so did not want to hear he might lose his erection during sex. And he so did not want imagine his Mama having sex with'ugh! 'Enough!' He nearly yelled, stopping Mamaji midway. 'We are not having this talk, ever!' This is it! Mama burst out laughing but Arnav didn't stay to hear one more word. He marched towards the stairs that would lead him to the honeyroom suite, where Khushi waited. Mama called behind him, 'Bitwa thora shaant ho jao, aise cheezon me ziada jaldi nahi karte'' Aarrrgh! He marched faster, anything to get away from this weirdness' It was suddenly very hot. He loosened his tie. As he started climbing, the heat increased, so he loosened his coat buttons as well, and opened the shirt's collar. A few moments later, he also opened the cuffs. There! At least now he could breathe easier' 'or not! Standing outside his doorway were De, Nani, Mami, Buaji and Ammaji, talking and giggling in a way that made him wary. He was about to turn around when Mami caught sight of him. She whispered something and they all burst into giggles again. He suddenly realized how his appearance might be construed. His first instinct was to back off before he could be more traumatized by having Mami, Nani or god forbid, De give him tips about sex.

But they looked like they were expecting him to do exactly that. Am I that transparent? He wondered; well, he was also Arnav Singh Raizada and Arnav Singh Raizada didn't run away from trouble or uncomfortable sex talks. So, he leaned a shoulder against the wall and lounged like he had no worries in the world. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' A few minutes earlier' Khushi's heart fluttered like a butterfly as Ammaji and Buaji set her on the seej and backed out. She was left alone to ponder what would happen next. Strange thoughts whirled around in her head, thoughts of Arnavji standing so close that their breaths mingled and their lips touched' She swallowed, her palms sweaty and heart going DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK again. It was most unnerving. She looked around the room, wondering if she could grab the glass without destroying the arrangement of her lehnga. The door opened and Jiji walked in. 'Khushi'' she smiled, handing her a glass of water. Khushi drained it gratefully. Payal sat in front of her, careful of her lehnga.'Khushi, hm tjh se kuch kehna chatay hain'' 'Jiji phelay hmain tm se kuch poochna hia'' Khushi said but Jiji said, 'Nahi, pehlay hmari baat sun lo, phr poochna. Aur beech me mt rokna'' Then she went on to explain in very vague and diffused terms about suhag and its implications. Khushi heard it all with a disbelieving frown. Surely, Jiji was joking. That wasn't even possible' was it? She opened her mouth to comment on it when' There was knock and De walked in with a cup. 'Ye len Khushiji, Chotay ne ap ke lia green tea bhijwai hai.' De was grinning widely and winked at Jiji before going outside. She didn't close the door, though and Khushi watched in increasing dismay as Naniji, Mamiji, Ammaji and Buaji along with De gathered in front of her door. They started talking amongst themselves, occasionally throwing her sly looks, and bursting into giggles. Jiji patted her hand, 'Han Khushi, ab pucho kia puchna ha.' Khushi took a sip of green tea; her question had been answered, agr Jiji sahi keh rahi hai. Truth be told, she still had doubts butsirf qareeb anay se pregnancy nahi hoti' Well, at least she'd been right in her assumption that something big had to happen before pregnancy could occur. She was still a little fuzzy on the details of how exactly it would happen (Jiji could only say so much without blushing), though. There was a loud commotion outside, with lots of whispers and giggles and De leaned in to call Jiji outside. Jiji patted her hand again, took the green tea and left, along with the others. That was when Khushi realized the commotion had been about her pati's arrival.

Her heart jumpstarted and started racing and she couldn't lift her eyes. Of their own accord, her fingers tightened into fists, anticipation ricocheting miles high. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' All of his doubts, his worries fled as he stood in the doorway, gazing at his patni. *Rabba Ve* She's beautiful' he sighed like a silly romantic, leaning against the doorframe and just looking at her. She was gorgeous, replesendent in the red wedding dress, her lehnga spread out, her hands resting on her knees. Not resting, no, curled into tight little fists; she wasn't looking up at him but her breaths were harsh. She's nervous; he realized and felt his mouth curve in a predatory grin. He was an evil, evil man because the thought of Khushi's nervousness turned him on. He shut the door behind with a snip, his eyes trained on Khushi. She flinched when the door shut. He locked the door delibrately; her breath hitched. He leaned against the doorframe again, simply looking at her as the tension inside the room notched higher. He stayed like that for few more minutes, enjoying the way her breathing pattern changed from merely harsh to panting outright. 'Khushi, mere taraf nahi dekho gi?' He asked softly. She slowly raised her head, her eyes barely lifting. He smiled, letting her see what he felt for her. Her breath hitched and her eyes dropped again. He slowly stalked forward, feeling a predator playing with his prey. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' DHAK DHAK, DHAK DHAK He was coming towards her. Each echoing footstep brought him closer; she felt it in the increasing pressure upon her heart. It beat faster with each step until' His shadow, diffused in the dim, romantic light of their suite, fell across her. He was almost overhead and' She closed her eyes to calm herself. It didn't help; if anything, closing her eyes attuned her all the more to his movements. She felt it when he stretched his arm to touch her. Her eyes snapped open, her breath harsh. 'Kia hua Khushi? Tm itni preshan kiun ho?' He asked languidly, caressing her cheek. He was thoroughly enjoying this. That thought made her speak, though her voice wouldn't cooperate. 'A-aap'' 'Han m-main'' he gently mocked her, his fingers sliding towards her ears and down her neck, gently tracing her jewellery.

She swallowed, unable to make her throat work. His touch had elicited a delicious tremor that made her tremble and her eyes slid shut, as her hands lifted of their own accord. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav watched, mesmerized, as Khushi's eyes closed and a blissful shiver wracked her frame and her fingers grasped his hand. She's beautiful' He eyed the complicated pieces of jewellery she wore thoughtfully. They have to go, he decided, starting with'her fingers tightened and her rings and bangles scraped against his skin' these! He sat on the bed, slightly behind her, so that she couldn't see him. She stiffened when he slid an arm around her waist, his chest brushing her back. She blinked in confusion. 'A-arnavji'' 'Shh'' he whispered, letting his breath fan her ear, his fingers tightening on hers. She shivered and leaned back against him. He lifted her left hand slowly so that each ring and each bangle glittered in the soft light. Carefully, he guided her right hand so that it rested on the other. 'Apne rings utaro'' he murmured softly, deliberately caressing her palm and fingers as he did so. He tightened his grip a little and she moved. She tried to pull off the ring but he stopped her, then made her repeat the process more slowly, so that each time she removed a ring, her own hands caressed her. Her breath notched higher as she stared at their held hands, transfixed. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' She couldn't believe what Arnavji was making her do. Although she was taking of the rings herself, but his hands were wrapped around hers, guiding them and every time she moved, his fingers caressed her. It was highly erotic. And combined with the way he was holding her, so intimately' She'd faint before this was over' He kissed the tip of her ear. Her heart stopped for a moment, then started racing double time. She tried to move but he tightened his grip, moving her hand towards her wrist to take off the bangles next. She tightened her fingers around one of them and started to pry it off; his hands tightened again, forcing her to slow down as he caressed her, his breath moving from her ear to her neck and back again. Her neck arched of its own accord as her eyes closed' ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Damn those bangles! Arnav wasn't sure how to take them off without hurting her or scraping her tender skin. Dammit, kia zarurat the itna kuch pehnay ke?

His plan was to make her so lost in pleasure, she wouldn't notice the slight pain. He just hoped it would work, please let it work! She arched her neck as if in invitation and well, she didn't need to ask twice ' he was more than ready to give. He bent his head and traced his lips up along the column of her neck, placing a soft kiss on her jaw and then, on her temple. She turned her head towards him, her lips parted. Her eyes opened slowly and met his' *Rabba Ve* Everything else ceased to exist; just the two of them, suspended in the profundity of the moment. Their breaths mingled as he leaned in to, finally, claim her. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' *Rabba Ve* Khushi was drowning; that was how she felt, looking into Arnavji's eyes ' eyes that were glowing with love and passion as he leaned in. She copied him, intent on ultimately experiencing that mysterious something' His lips touched hers and she' melted. There was no other way describe the gooey, knee-weakening sensations that bombarded her. She leaned into the embrace as his arms tightened around her' There was slight jerk and Khushi dimly realized that Arnavji had taken off her bangles. Good, she thought dazedly' 'and then, she was too lost to care anymore. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Three years later' 'Tell me again mai ye kiun kar raha hun.' Arnav asked his wife as she rummaged through De's stuff and he acted as a lookout. 'Kiun ke aap De se bohat piyar krte hain aur un ko khush dekhna chahtay hian,' She replied, not bothering to look up at him. 'Kahan giya, yahin hona chahiya' ha, mil gia.' She straightened, triumphantly holding up De's cell phone. 'Shut up, Khushi!' he whispered furiously, 'jo krna hai jldi kro aur yahan se niklo'' 'Kr rhe hain na'' she scanned down the contact list, ' Number note krain'' Shaking his head, Arnav took out his own cell and noted down the contact information of one Dr. Shaleen Abhaas. 'Ab chalian ya kuch aur drama krna hai?' He snapped the cell phone shut. 'Chalain!' she excitedly skipped past him' or tried to. He grabbed her and lifted her in his arms. 'Kitni mrtba kaha hia, apni condition ka khyal karo. Tmhe samajh nahi aati?' He glared down at her.

She bent her head and played with his coat lapels, 'Aap hain na hmara khyal rkhne ke lia'' she looked up at him from beneath her lashes. He tried to stay angry but damn if he couldn't feel his mouth curve. He satisfied himself by giving her a look that promised retribution as he carried her to their room. If Khushi was right, then De was interested in this doctor dude and well, it was past time De got her due of happiness. She'd given birth to a beautiful baby girl and devoted her life taking care of her, making it clear that she wasn't interested in remarrying. She was a catch, after all, with all her fortune but she hadn't shown the slightest inclination for anyone, so of course, Arnav had warned everyone off. But now, his Khushi was telling him she'd seen De showing some interest in this doctor, so' He'd just have to make sure the guy understood what awaited him if he hurt De. He smiled at the thought. 'Ap aisa hargiz nahi karain ge,' Khushi's voice intruded his pleasant thoughts of pummeling that doctor silly. He raised an eyebrow; she folded her arms, 'Pta ha hmain ap kia soch rahay hain.' He had no doubts; she knew him very well. 'Tou?' 'Tou'? Ap ko smaj nahi aa rhe? De inn ko pasand krti hain'' 'Tm ye kaise keh skti ho? Aur ye hai kon?' 'Sanaya k doctor, child specialist hain.' They all called De's girl Sanaya, Princess ' she had them all dancing to her whims. 'Hmm' well, agr De interested hain'' he began 'Hain na!' Khushi interjected; he glared at her and she looked down with a murmured 'sorry'. 'Tou hme uss se milna paray ga.' He finished with distaste. As far as he was concerned, there was no need for De to go anywhere but if this made De happy, he'd agree to it. Reluctantly, he called the guy to invite him to a 'family' dinner. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Anjali couldn't believe it. Chotay had cornered Shaleen and was interrogating him furiously, if his gestures were anything to go by. She rubbed her forehead and turned to her over-excited, obvious conspirator of a sister-in-law. 'Khushiji, ap ne ye kiun kia?' she asked again, a little desperate as she saw the doctor wiping his forehead. Chotay to inn ke third degree laga den ge'

She didn't care, not really' he was only Sanaya's doctor, after all. Yeah' so why did she feel the urge to go and tell Chotay off for harassing him? She was scared. After'Shyam (she forced herself to think his name), she'd pretty much sworn off the entire courting and marriage scenario. She had no desire to be married because she had good fortune ' been there, done that, never doing it again, thankyou very much. And all the suitors positing for her husband were only concerned with that ' and her good name. The money was what really made them see beyond her disability' It occurred to her that she was being more cynical than even Chotay but' she had reason to be. So, no, she wasn't marrying again. And she wasn't interested in the doc, either, even though he was the only person who hadn't attempted to court her the moment he heard of her fortune' and he was really, really nice with a really, really cute smile' with dimples' Her eyes widened as she spied the said dimples flashing at Chotay ' to her shock, Chotay was smiling back as he chatted with Shaleen, leaning a shoulder against the wall. Wow' it appeared she wasn't the only one affected by him' Khushiji's giggle snapped her out of her confused musings; she was looking at her with a megawatt I-know-wat-ya-thinkin'-bout grin. Anjali blushed, feeling unexplicably guilty and she turned to go back inside. 'De'' Khushiji's soft murmur stalled her; she glanced up. Khushiji's eyes were filled with tears as she touched her face, 'Devi Maiya aap ko sab khushian dain ge' ap dekh lena!' she nodded in emphasis, wiping her eyes. 'Hmain maaf kr dain'' she sniffed, 'Bas aj kal hr waqt ronay ko dil krta hai.' Anjali felt an unexpected laugh bubble out of her; it felt like yesterday when she'd been pregnant and bursting into tears for absolutely no reason. She chucked Khushiji under the chin, smiling and shaking her head. Then she turned to go. 'Chalain Khushiji, Buaji aur Ammaji aa gai honge'' Khushiji followed her inside. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Arnav eyed the table, feeling his chest constrict with emotion. It felt good to be part of the family again. All around the table talk ensued, different conversations running into each other, people arguing and laughing and Sanaya flitting from one chair to another, having her whims fulfilled by willing elders. Nani chatted amiably with Khushi's Amma; Babuji, now well enough to do everything by himself except walk, swapped jokes with Mama and Mami and Buaji argued with one another, each trying to outwit the other. And Dr. Shaleen fit right in. Across the table, De alternated between blushing at Shaleen and eyeing him evilly. He deliberately ignored her and faced Khushi, feeling a smile curve his lips.

She was teasing Aakash and Payal (as usual) and Aakash was blushing (again) ' seriously, you'd think he'd gotten used to all that teasing by now but no, he still blushed ' and Payal was giggling. Khushi' he sighed dreamily. She looked up at him; their eyes met and held and just like that, everything else faded into nothingness' *Rabba Ve* ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''.. Dear reader, as you may have guessed, everything turned out to be okay. Anjali married Shaleen after all and Khushi had a really cute baby boy who looked just like his father, they named him Barun. Its said father spoiled his baby and wife. And Payal got pregnant soon afterwards, so nobody felt left out (that's for Aakash). Buaji and Mamiji never learned to get along with each other and Mamaji had great fun, eliciting jealous responses out of his Manno, simply by complimenting Buaji. Babuji regained use of all his faculties and was soon able to restart his business; so Ammaji and him, they moved back to Lucknow. NK dropped in time and again with resounding Naanav's, much to Arnav's dismay ' and Khushi finally found out why NK called him Nannav in the first place ' but then, she found out a whole lot more but that's for her to know and you, dear reader, to guess about. Needless to say, they all lived happily ever after. Hope you had as much fun reading this as I had writing it. Love The Author Mariam Ejaz
