1.4 Operation A standard size (class) exhaust nozzle is fitted to the engine. At engine test, the fan speed is measured at a target thrust. If the speed is below the target, an exhaust nozzle of a larger area is installed in order to increase the fan speed at the target thrust. If the fan speed is above the target, an exhaust nozzle of a smaller area is installed in order to reduce the fan speed at the target thrust. NOTE: Refer to engine trim data plate and airframe manual for proper exhaust nozzle class for your engine.
