The Notebook ( The Notebook in Spain and The Notebook in Latin America ) is a film directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams . Based in The Notebook of Nicholas Sparks , the film was released in 2004 . Synopsis In the summer of 1940 Allie ( Rachel McAdams ) met Noah ( Ryan Gosling ) and they fell in love. Now, an old man tells his fellow asylum the love story of these young people while reading The Notebook. Argument The main theme is the senile dementia and the attempt to recover a love that has faded because of this disease and what it can achieve pure love in this situation. The old man is married to the old but she does not know because of his illness, which makes him forget all the past. Synopsis The film begins when an old friend of hers read a story between two young lovers, Allie and Noah. The story goes back to the summer of1940 in Seabrook, South Carolina . Allie Hamilton ( Rachel McAdams ) is a girl from a wealthy family who spends the summer in Seabrook. In carnival, Allie meets Noah Calhoun ( Ryan Gosling ), a young man of the people working at the lumber mill. During the summer, Noah and Allie fall in love as they spend time together. There they begin to live their love pure and transparent despite their social differences. Allie's parents find out about it and decide to separate. One night, when Noah and Allie are delayed live her life to the early morning hours, Allie parents to call the police to search.Aware of this, through a friend of Noah, he immediately takes her to his house, where Allie is harshly repressed by his mother, neglecting this at all times to Noah. After Noah leaves the house to retire and Allie runs after him and apologizes. He says he understands and that he has to go and makes you see that she has a life ahead with things that will never give them, she asks you where you go live together. Noah tells him no time to respond and you still have the summer to think about it, Allie interprets this to mean that he wants to end it and break. Allie's family decides to leave Seabrook the next day, at this before going Allie, Noah goes to get to work but can not find it and asks the best friend who says it never ended, that you love and that never stop loving him. Noah learns this and runs to fetch her home and realizes the reality. Desolate, writes a letter every day for a year, which hides Allie's mother.Receiving no answer, Noah moved to Atlanta . When Pearl Harbor was attacked, he enlisted in the Army during World War II , while Allie university student. While studying, Allie does volunteer as an assistant nurse for wounded soldiers and meets Lon Hammond, Jr. ( James Marsden ), a young man, handsome, charming, and wealthy family. Lon and Allie undertake, and meanwhile, Noah returns home. His father reports that it is selling your current home, so buying the Old Windsor Noah (the old abandoned house that Noah promised to restore Alli could live together). While visiting Charleston, South Carolina, Noah sees Allie walking down the street. He follows her to get into a restaurant where he sees Allie and Lon kissing. Devastated, Noah restores the old house, thinking that if he keeps his promise, Allie again. Once home, Noah tries to sell it, but can not. At present, it is clear that the old woman is Allie and the storyteller is Noah. However, she does not recognize her children and family because of his dementia. The film returns to the year 1947 . While testing your wedding dress to family and friends, Allie reads about Noah's house in the newspaper and faints. After some thought, he decides to go visit. Noah and Allie talk during dinner, and makes it clear that she is getting married. They talk about their memories together, and when it comes time to leave Allie, Noah asks him to return the next day because he has a surprise. The next day, Noah takes Allie to the lake in a canoe and start talking. On the way back to the house and in the rain, Allie gets angry and asks why Noah never wrote. He tells her that he wrote a letter every day for a year. They kiss passionately and go home to make love . After two days of passion, Allie's mother appears while Noah is out and tells her daughter that Lon has followed her to

Seabrook. Allie's mother takes her away and tells her that she also had a summer love and is still seeing sometimes. Once back home brings Noah, Allie's mother gives her daughter the bundle of 365 letters that Noah had written to him, saying he hopes to take the right decision. Allie tells Noah that Lon is in town and that the last days have been wonderful, but it has been very irresponsible. Noah, furious, accuses her of only loving Lon for his money, and tells him that if he goes, will hate forever. He tells you that if you really want to be with Lon, then you should go, because once the lost and could happen again. Confused, Allie leaves. Distraught, Allie stops her car, read the farewell letter of Noah and then drive to the hotel where he is staying Lon, to talk to him about what happened. Allie says he knows he has to be with Lon, which means it will stay with him. However, the picture changes for Noah, he hears a noise from a car outside. On rising, Allie sees in him, which apparently has left Lon to return with him. Returning to the present, Allie realizes that she and Noah are the protagonists of the story. A few minutes until it returns to fall into oblivion and begins again shouting and pushing Noah. That night Noah looks at books and the public discovers that Allie wrote the book with this message written on the front: "Read me this, and return with you every time." Noah looks also a photo album, which features the audience that Noah and Allie were married, had children and lived a wonderful life together. The next morning, the nurse finds Noah in critical condition. He is saved from his heart attack and cast Allie's room when he returns from the hospital. She wakes up and is able to remind Noah and asks if their love is strong enough to perform miracles and bring them together. Noah tells him that his love can do what they want to do. In the morning, both are found dead, sleeping peacefully beside and holding hands after planterselo. The film closes with a flock of birds flying over a lake. Characters Noah Caulhoun : A country boy, fresh and current. Worker, but lazy, happy with his life as it is so far. He falls in love with the fervor of Allie Hamilton and intends to know the feeling is mutual no matter what the cost, which is the factor that kicks off the story. Allie Hamilton : A young upper class with a promising future, which does not usually get involved with young people who are unable to maintain their social status. Shown surly, mocking with Noah at first but after direct and persistent attempts by the boy get his attention, she decides to give him the opportunity to take her on a date. Lon Hammond : A young lawyer, rich and handsome. Meet Allie after being wounded in World War II. He is attracted to her from the beginning, causing is healed when asked to leave together. Anne Hamilton : The mother of Allie. From the beginning it shows against the relationship between Noah and her daughter, trying to separate them whenever he gets the chance. John Hamilton : He is the father of Allie, a rich man and very quiet. Martha Shaw : A war widow in the next village that Noah spent the afternoon trying to forget Allie. Sara Tuffington : Allie's best friend in Seabrook. Caulhoun Frank : He's the father of Noah, because he sold his house, Noah was able to build the house that Allie promised. Finn : The friend that Noah was a young boy, died in the Second World War. Dr. Barnwel : The resident doctor makes several revisions to Duke and Ms. Hamilton serves. Echols Nurse : One of the nurses residences with which Duke gets along very well.
