ABOUT STATE AND PROJECT

The state of Punjab stretches from 2932' to 3232'N latitude and 7355' to 7650'E longitude, occupying a land of 50,362 sq. kms. It is situated in the Northwest of India and is bordered by Pakistan on the West, the Indian States of Jammu & Kashmir on the North, Himachal Pradesh on its North East and Haryana & Rajasthan to its South. The state has 20 districts, 141 Blocks and 12,329 inhabited villages with population of 243.59 lac as per census 2001, out of which 160.96 lac is Rural and 82.63 lac is urban population. The climate of the State is semi-humid to semi-arid. The rainfall decreases progressively from about 1000 mm in the North-eastern district of Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur to less than 250 mm in Faridkot and Ferozepur lying in the North-west. The Punjab state is largely a flat alluvial plain except in a thin belt along North Eastern border, where it is mountainous and the South-Western parts where the stable sand dunes occur. The alluvial plain is under laid by un-consolidated sand, silt and clays. The slope of the plain is towards South and South-West. It lies between altitudes 180 meters and 300 meters above mean sea level. There are three perennial rivers namely the Sutlej, the Beas and the Ravi and the one ephemeral river Ghaggar in the state. These rivers feed vast network of canal system in the state. State of Punjab is put together under two broad groups namely hilly area and plain area. The saturated sand and boulder bed comprises potential ground water aquifers in the state of Punjab. The village Budha Theh, Beas and Abadi Guru Nanakpura is situated on Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway adjacent to Beas Railway Station on the banks of river Beas. Villages are situated on both sides of National Highway and s the railway line crosses through the village area. Historical Importance This Village is historically important and known as Beas. The village has a Charitable Hospital in the name of Maharaj Sawan Singh Constructed by Maharaj Jagat Singh Medical Relief Society Dera Beas. At a distance of 5 Km from village BudhaTheh there is a Dera Baba Jaimal Singh known as Dera Beas which is religious head quarters of RadhaSoami Sect .This Dera came into existence in the year 1891 and started by Guru HazurMaharaj Jaimal Singh Ji.
