Hi *rederic+ $ am end%ess%y encouraged by this post' $ came to Hawaii to a%%ow me to take in these %essons+ and here they are in post. $t occurred to me that $ needed to get away+ and then a house became a,ai%ab%e to me. Tweet Tears started to well at the corner of my eyes. Six needles were being inserted into vario s meridian !oints on my left "nee. #ith each a!!lication$ % felt a r sh of blood or energy flow draining away from my "nee all the way down to the bottom of my feet. 4 hoto by super)antastic on )%ickr5 &y visit on Sat rday morning to the Traditional 'hinese &edicine (octor or sinseh was not ) ite what % was ex!ecting. %t was my first ac ! nct re session. % have never in* red myself before$ des!ite being engaged in a n mber of extreme waters!orts in the !ast. The ligaments to my "nees had been +strained, or in* red d e to a series of snow s"iing lessons % have been ta"ing over the !ast co !le of wee"s. - st !rior to the ac ! nct re session$ (r .ho had also sed t i na/ a traditional form of 'hinese massage that had me crying alo d in !ain. The heat of a lam! was directed over the needles as % laid on the bed immobili0ed. &y legs felt n mb. #hile waiting for half ho r to !ass$ % started to examine my fears. an instant. #ere my tears d e to !hysical or emotional stress1 % co ld sense a clo d of dense emotions !ervading over me. Snow Skiing Fears %n !re!aration for an !coming tri! to 2o""aido in -a!an$ % had been ta"ing snow s"iing classes. #hile % have mastered s"iing on water years ago$ % have never tried it on snow. % reali0ed that con) ering the slo!es introd ced a new set of fears for me. %t had been a long time$ a good 3 years since the birth of my elder girl$ in vent ring beyond the gym. These were the fears that % identified4 Fear of falling. Fear of heights. Fear that signing on for extra classes wo l! "ean ta#ing "ore ti"e away fro" "y wor#. Fear of not being able to control "y s#is. Fear of crashing into anyone in "y $ath !own the slo$e. Fear con% re! o&er the tho ght of not being able to a&oi! a tree on the s#i slo$es in 'a$an(( % felt hel!less each time when % fell down$ as it meant that % needed assistance from the coach. There were a n mber of times when % was +s icidal,$ screaming all the way downhill as % co ld not sto! my s"is. Then$ there were others when % was st c" mid5slo!e$ nable to move or mane ver my s"i. % was ) ite a comical sight66 Needless to say$ % did not en*oy my lessons very m ch. The coach identified the !roblem to be one of inade) ate !ractice. ( e to an otherwise overboo"ed sched le$ % co ld not go often eno gh for lessons. %nitially$ % com!lained bitterly. % had every reason to believe that my !coming tri! to -a!an wo ld be one vacation % wo ld not en*oy. 7rad ally$ as % reflected over my !oor attit de$ it hit !on me that fears arising from my snow s"iing tri!s were !roviding me a !erfect o!!ort nity for more self healing. So % * m!ed right into it. Every night for two wee"s$ % sed E8T to address any fear in falling or of heights for my yo nger da ghter and %. &y elder da ghter had no !roblems going down the slo!e b t my yo nger girl was facing a hard time too. #hile % observed im!rovements in confidence levels$ the state of my body grad ally worsen.

#ith a series of bad falls$ % started to ex!erience +bad, "nees. 9nees that ref sed to obey my commands. 9nees that were !ainf l as % climbed stairs$ whether ! or down. 9nees that % co ld hardly bend. Disg ste!. Do bt. Exha ste!. Fear. ) rt. *""obili+e!. *n!ignation. ,oneliness. ,o&eless. Morbi!. -ee!y. .ffen!e!. /ha"e. /tagnant. / $$resse!. 0n$re$are!. 0nreliable. 0nworthy. 1icti"i+e!. 2ary. 2ilf l. 2oef l. 3ban!one!. 3$$rehensi&e. :nd the root of it all was ; 3 Fear of 3ging( % was fearf l of growing old !hysically and becoming de!endent on others. % began to recall how % have always tho ght of not wanting to end ! li"e the many old fol"s % have seen$ nable to wal"$ being !hysically immobile and needing assistance from their family members. % also reali0ed how my foc s is on the lac"$ the not4wanting. &y "nee had behaved li"e % was already <= or >=$ in a similar !osition to one of the elderly fol"s % have come across. % wo ld not have tho ght that going for snow s"iing classes wo ld invo"e anything related to aging$ dying and death. #ell$ a!!arently$ it did$ at the dee!er layers for me6 Wish Me Luck
