Learn about the Affordable Care ACT on 12/8

On December 8th, Kelly McDonald, with Get Covered America, will give members and friends of UUFW an opportunity to learn about the Affordable Care Act. Ms. McDonald is with Get Covered America which is a non-partisan, non-profit campaign to educate communities about the new health insurance options made available by the Affordable Care Act. The session will cover who is eligible, what services are covered, financial assistance and how to apply. The presentation will be shortly after service and will be about 20 minutes followed by an opportunity for questions from the participants. While we many of us may have great health insurance plans, we may have family, friends or co-workers who are among the many millions of Americans currently without health insurance or who currently have inadequate insurance should they encounter any serious or prolonged health problem. So invite a friend to this brief presentation and while you are at it, invite them to worship service as well!

UUFW Social Action in October 2013

Do you have some fabulous ideas on how UU can make a difference through social action right here in Waco? Please share your ideas through our social action committee at sa@uuwco.org. Let's all work together to make a difference!

The Community Race Relations Coalition is organizing Baking Bash Fall 2013! Why not let someone else do the baking and support a wonderful cause in the process? Pick up dates for baked goods are December 6 and December 13. This is the CRRCs major fundraising event this year; they will not be hosting a silent auction as they have in years past. Check out the website for more details about the Baking Bash at http://crrcwaco.org/baking-bash/. Order may be placed online or you may use the order form accompanying this newsletter. Save the date: the next CRRC Quarterly meeting will be on January 23, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 at St. Albans Church Parish Hall at the corner of 29th and Columbus Ave in Waco. Angel Tree for Talitha Koum Angel Tree time is here, and were still in need of volunteers. If you are interested in "adopting" an Angel from Talitha Koum Nurture Center, spending $30-50 per Angel, please let Becky Warren know. Contact Becky Warren (Becky.Warren@uuwago.org) for more info.
