Araceli Candelaria Final December 4, 2013 Marry Petty Plastic surgery is a need to millions of Americans around the world. By this top performance in place, plastic surgery helps with deformities, burn victims and a chance to lower cancer. Plastic surgery may have a bad reputation of fixing any flaws that are not needed to be fixed; others may view this performance as unnecessary. May do not realize how this can change peoples life in a way you would have never imagined. To be in the United States and to have the technology and education to recreate a body feature to become flawless is incredible and speechless. You dont just fix what they look like, you enhance their self-steam, and they have mentally made them stronger as a person. This surgical process in the United States is not just about fixing any flaws you may have, this surgery can change a person life more then you may realize. A study has shown plastic surgery has improved the eyesight of Asian Americans in the past years. Another study has shown that a drastic increase of the number of eyelid surgeries in Asian Americans (kaw, pp.-7489). When this surgery is performed, surgeons are making a small slit in the eyelid, to improve the quality of visibility. This surgery is very simplistic with drastic changes in place. This simple surgery can change a womans life and characteristics for the better of her life. In addition, a study has shown an increase in the amount of surgery that are being made, an 80% increase since 2002 in females all around the U.S. (kaw, pp.-74-89). As you can see the demand for plastic

surgery in the United States has rapidly increased within the years. This proves the fact that plastic surgery is necessary for the lives of millions of people around the world. Another way plastic surgery is enhancing the world, is the performance surgeons are making on young infants and toddlers all around the world. This surgical process is not just about fixing any flaws you may not like, plastic surgery is about fixing deformities on new born babies who may not have the chance of a normal life. For example, a cleft lip. A cleft lip is a deformity of the lip when a child is born. When this surgery is performed plastic surgeons are surgically fixing the deformity of the childs lip and reconstructing the lip back to normal (Byars, Pg334-342). By doing this top performance it is giving young children another chance of happiness. As well, hope to live a normal life as a young child. These surgeries are not just done in the United States, these performance are done in many countries around the world, by American plastic surgeons. Many people do not realize the importance of how plastic surgery is enhancing the need of many people, not just in the United States but, all around the world. Those that do believe in plastic surgery say it is a life changing experience. Many may ask is it really a life changing experience. This surgery fixes every possible flaw you may have or want to fix. When it comes down to the actual surgery, there are two types of plastic surgery, one is reconstructive and the other is cosmetic surgery; they both have the form of recreating and redoing a part of the body`s outer skin(Medical News Today). These types of surgery are an advanced tool to help fix burns, cleft palates, traumatic injuries, and more deformities of the body. Originally plastic surgery was to correct or redo anything to do with deformity within the body. Now there are numerous stories talking about the correction of facial and body defects at birth. It is estimated that 169,000 children are diagnosed with defaults yearly (Centers for Disease control and Prevention). As well, a high amount of traumatic injuries that requires

reconstructive surgery. These surgeries help children, and adults all around the world. An estimated 200,000 children are diagnosed with a cleft palate (Operation Smile). A cleft palate/lip is a birth defect that occurs on a babies lip or mouth, commonly known as orofical clefts (Centers for Disease control and Prevention). These birth defects happen within the body as the body is going through the stage of pregnancy. A rare but dangerous defect is called Treachercoolins syndrome, 1 in 25, 000 are diagnosed with this birth defect (FastBleep). Treacher-coolins syndrome is an autosomal disorder that affects a gene on the chromosome with variable penetrance (FastBleep). Researched has proven that these birth defects affect the childs speech, normalized facial appearance, normal hearing and dental growth(Nationwide Childrens).As these all resemble in the use of plastic surgery . As the years go by, technology has enhanced to what we seem as the greatest. America has reached its peak of the newest technology all around. A new research has shown there is now a way to reduce breast cancer. This research has conducted the findings of breast cancer and the size of a womans breast linked together (Cancer Causes & Control, pp. 253-258) .Many scientists and researchers are saying, the risk of having breast cancer can come from the womens size of breast. For example, if a women who has a bigger breast then the average size American, they now have a higher chance of getting breast cancer from the amount of extra tissue and cells that are not needed in the breast (Cancer causes & control, pp. 253-258) The solution researchers and scientist are now saying is that, this problem would have to conducted of surgically removing the amount of extra tissue on a womens breast could lead to a lower chance of getting breast cancer. These new findings are still going under research, but with further findings it can possibly save many millions of Americans a year, and from going through any harsh treatment that is needed.

An organization called operation smile helps those are in need of a surgical operation to fix the defect within the patient (Operation Smile). With this project operation smile goes around to other nations that are not fortunate offering free plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery. There are numerous other charities that have the same program of helping children that are need of this surgery. As this evidence has shown plastic surgery is beneficial not just to those who want to fix a blemish or to fix a simple flaw but, for those all around the world suffering from particular birth defects. Operations such as operation Smile has had a great impact that has been essential to those all around the world. Plastic surgery is more impact able with the technology the world has come upon in, and has had a great impact on those who are seeking plastic surgery. Those who do want plastic surgery have to face the pros and cons of the surgery. The children, who are facing certain defects as well, go through the same risk. Every surgery will have its chances and effects on it the skin depending on the type of surgery the patient chooses to do. As research has conducted, plastic surgery has gone up by 5% in the past year (kaw, pp.74-89). Meaning the demand of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery has gone up within the years. Americans had a nearly total of 11.5 million plastic surgeries that were done in 2011, which they had double from the years before (O`Connor). In 2010 researched showed 1.6 million plastic surgeries that were preformed (O`Connor). So what does this mean? This means that plastic surgery is becoming more of a demand in Americans society as time goes by; technology has increased, and became more efficient which has raised the demand of surgery. As the statistic show the increasing amounts of surgeries that have been done, the United States is expected to double as the years are to come. When it has to do with cleft palate surgeries one and every 700 newborns are being diagnosed with a cleft lip or a cleft palate yearly (Texas Pediairic

Surgical Associates). A recent researched has been proven that cleft palates are more common in baby boys then in baby girls (Texas Pediairic Surgical Associates). As well, if a child has been born with a cleft palate it is likely that 5% that another baby from the same parent will have a cleft palate (Texas Pediairic Surgical Associates). Before considering getting plastic surgery you look at the pros and cons of the type of surgery you are getting. As well, you consider the surgeons background and experience right? The average plastic surgeon takes 11 to 12 years of medical school and 1 to 2years of training before entering the field (Answers). Americans always have the common questioned of is this doctor truth worthy, or not. Plastic surgery has been around since the 19th century, it came from the accident India (Article Click). As well, plastic surgery originated from the process or fixing and heeling scars. Though the common people dont realize why and where plastic surgery came from when the importance of its significance. When plastic surgery is in a persons life, the common person does not realize why they are getting this surgery. Plastic surgery has its risks and effects, but with anything else it comes with effects. Americans can be blindsided by its effects, just like with anything else around us. Another common questioned is will plastic surgery always be in demand, or will plastic surgeons always be granted to a job. As researched has shown the rates of plastic surgery is rising (Article Click). With any job there will be risk, just as the same as in plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is not in just in the United States but, as well all around, in other countries and states. This has been proven by where it was first originated in India (Article Click). Plastic surgery is also common where a project such as operation smile is located. Donations that have been given or donated to charities such as the projects that were machined benefits children and adults with this disability. They do benefit the adults, by giving their child another chance of normal and helping by donating that surgery for no charge. As any other child, children with cleft palates or cleft lip

has a chance of being bullied because of the child`s deformity. The pain and suffering of being bullied is painful for any child, but being bullied for a deformity that the child has no control over is a another level of cruelty. With a simple donation of a surgery can change a childs life for the best. Other words, plastic can be for any type of person. If there is a deformity, a simple or major flaw, reduction of some short, enchantment of an object, and to a serious accident that requires surgery of some short. When it comes down to cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery, they have to do with an object of the body of redoing/fixing a flaw within the body. Plastic surgery is helping more than it was first introduced as you see the numbers climbing. These surgeries are helping all around the world in outstanding numbers that are climbing higher than ever. For Example America is setting an example for those who need this surgery or are looking into getting any type of surgery. There are numerous different types of surgery that technology has enhanced and became more significant as time goes by. In conclusion, Plastic surgery is a beneficial need in the United States because this surgical procedure helps with born deformities, cleft lips, and burn victims. Without this surgical process in place, any facial problems would be highly impossible to fix. Many people disapprove of plastic surgery and label it is overrated. In all reality plastic surgery can be a life changing experience, not just for stars, but for children with defects all around the round. In todays society with the latest technology anything is possible, to have the ability to recreate a feature on the body to become flawless. Plastic surgery helps those who are unfortunate, not just in America but, those all around the world. There are major risks that humans take while going through this procedure that can be life dangerous. Also there are many factors were plastic surgery has gone wrong in the past. In the end the results are outstanding.
