The Jones Journal

special meal run smoothly and efficiently. Teachers were asked to relay some important guidelines to the parents/visitors with pre-paid reservations (if you arent sure you sent in the form and money, I have a list.) Please note that we eat at 11:30 and all visitors should meet us in the gym (not in the classroom.) If you plan to check out your child afterwards, you will need to exit the gym, continue to the office and follow the normal check out procedures from there. Also, please be mindful of the amount of time you are in the gym eating, as the lunch schedule for all the classes rotate. With over 530 children in the school and 300+ visitors to serve, the gym and kitchen will be running at a full steam ahead speed.

FYI
Our class will be having a Pajama Day on Friday, December 20th. Your child is welcome to wear their favorite pajamas but please have them wear regular shoes (no bedroom shoes or slippers, please.) In next weeks Friday Folder you will find one pack of the handwriting worksheets in case you are looking for some homework for your child over the break. These will be the last ones I send home for the school year; however, I have another Handwriting Without Tears workbook that Ill gladly copy for anyone interested. I will send home more information (after we return from the break) regarding other ideas I have on how to help your child easily transition from kindergarten to first grade. During the winter break, your childs Friday Folder can be thrown away since I have new ones for the 2nd half of the school year. Also, I will send home December journals Friday, January 3rd when we return from the holiday. I hope this will make things easy for you by not having to remember anything over the long break. Next Wednesday, December 18th, CWES will be having our Holiday Luncheon. There was a lot of discussion regarding the logistics of making this

PARENT READING
This weeks reading is a short article titled When an adult took standardized tests forced on kids. I found this piece extremely interesting and thought it was appropriate since I have started assessing for the kindergarten checklist. If you signed up for the Paperless Classroom Communication option, this reading can be found on the right side of our blog under Suggested Parent Readings.

ONE LAST THING

Next week your child will receive a gift bag from me that includes a winter break journal. This is completely optional to write in over the holiday. If you like, I can place these pages in their big journal binder that you will receive at the end of the year.

I hope everyone has a healthy weekend! ~S. Jones
