Officer Application
GENERAL INFORMATION
Texas Student Dietetic Association (TSDA) Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the
voting chapters at the annual TSDA meeting. Individuals elected as state officers shall hold office
from the close of the meeting through the conclusion of the following year's meeting. The state
officers shall consist of and be elected in this order: President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and
Historian.
TSDA OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS
1. Only active members will be eligible for a state office. Graduate students may not run for
office.
2. The candidate must be currently enrolled in an Accreditation Council of Education for
Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program, Student Dietetic Association (SDA), and
student member in the Academy.
3. A candidate may seek only one office.
4. No individual may serve in the same state office for more than two consecutive years.
5. All candidates should have the ability to express their ideas and to make decisions.
6. Officer applications must be sent electronically to the current TSDA president. Elections will
take place at the end of the sessions on the first day of the conference.
7. Candidates running for President-Elect should try to secure the signature of a Registered
Dietitian in their community or school who is willing to serve as the TSDA Advisor during their
Presidency. If the candidate cannot locate an RD willing to take on this responsibility, the current
committee will help search for someone statewide that is willing to serve in this capacity.
CAMPAIGN INFORMATION
1. Each candidate will be allowed a maximum of two minutes for a campaign speech.
2. Candidates are welcome to pass out small campaign fliers before the meeting/elections.
3. During the election, votes will be counted per school. This means that each
school/organization will cast one vote per office. We will hear speeches from all of the
candidates running for that position, then cast our votes. We will then hear speeches from the
next group and cast our votes for that position. Once all the offices have been voted for, they will
be collected, tallied, and winners announced. After the election, the officer-elects and current
officers will have a meeting to go over information for the coming year. The term begins at the
end of FNCE and goes through the next years FNCE. The current president will stay on as an
advisor through the next year to minimize gaps in processes.
