Buffalo Quilting Gals

Buffalo, Wyoming
Vol. XVI No. 7 2013 Buffalo, Wyoming

LAST MEETING-- Our last meeting was June 8 at Onderdonk Hall. After the business meeting the service project quilt was presented to Tracy Carlin and other board members of the Dan Carlot Music Scholarship fund. Bonnie Roth gave a lesson on Featherweight sewing machine maintenance and then members worked on the double diamond project with Anna. And obviously judging from all of the great photos (Thank you Cathy) there were a lot of quilts and projects for show and tell. NEXT MEETING-- The next meeting will be on July 13, 2013. We will meet at 10AM at Pinewood Cottage in Story. If you would like to carpool send an email and arrange to go with someone else. Seena will teach a lesson on precision piecing. Supplies needed are 4 or 5 scraps of coordinating fabric, sewing machine ready to sew, cutting tools, rulers, and cutting board, and whatever other sewing supplies you might need. We will make a 7 to 8 block that can be made into a potholder. If you want to make your block into a potholder then bring 4 additional pieces of scrap fabric that are at least 8 square. Seena will bring patterns to choose from and heat resistant batting. Please RSVP to Seena at seena_spencer@hotmail.com or call her at 278-0381 if you plan to attend so that she can bring enough patterns and batting as well as to help Janet make sure that the room is set up for everyone.

QW13 "Magic of Quilting" at Casper College, Thurs-Sun., July 11-14, has classes Friday & Sat. but also guest teachers, Trunk Shows on Fri & Sat nights ($10.00 each), and free Quilt Shows, and a free vendors mall. It can be a fun day trip, if not signing up for classes. The very last page of the brochure describes the Quilts of Valor 10th Anniversary booth, and Silent Auction. They are looking for red-white-and-blue fabric and batting donations for use during QW13 in the Drop-In QOV Service Project to sew Anniversary blocks, to help assemble tops, etc. Time to clean out our stashes for Flag Day in June for a great cause! http://www.wsqg.org/QW13/QW13Brochure.pdf If BQG members have QOV fabric, batting, top or block donations I will take them if they bring them to the June meeting, or call me before July 11 (620-9055). They can also just drop off donations while they're there if they're just coming for the day. Thanks, Vikki

We still an opening for a committee chairperson. If you would like to make sure that the pictures that are taken are saved for future members please consider volunteering to be the club historian.
