Nhs Expectations
Nhs Expectations
To keep my membership in the National Honor Society in good standing, I understand that I must maintain high
standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I must also participate actively in NHS and meet all
deadlines in a timely manner as explained below.
1. I understand that I must regularly attend monthly chapter meetings that will begin promptly at 8:15 AM
on the first available Wednesday of every month. I understand that I must attend two thirds of the
chapter meetings and that I am allowed only one unexcused absence. I may get an excused absence by
submitting a note to Senora Rodriguex in room 305 within a week of the missed meeting. The note must
include my name, the date of the meeting I missed, a legitimate excuse for missing the meeting (e.g. a
class at Foothill), an adult’s signature, and his/her phone number. If I cannot hear the announcements, I
should periodically check the NHS Facebook page or Google Group for information about meeting dates
and service projects.
MEETING DATES:
Wednesday, October 07 Cafeteria 8:15 AM 8:45 AM *Signed form due
2. I understand that I must pay my membership dues of $15 to the bookkeeper by November 4, 2009. This
money will be used to pay for the cost of the Induction Ceremony in April, the cap tassels for graduates,
the National Honor Society chapter dues, and the food baskets or other volunteer related purchases.
3. I understand that I must participate in an individual service project that reflects my particular talents and
interests. I must submit a verification of at least eight hours of work by January 13, 2010 and a
verification of seven hours by April 22, 2010 (Total=15).
4. I understand that I must participate in the chapter service project and any other designated NHS
responsibilities and that I must submit a verification of five group service hours by January 13, 2010
and an additional five group hours by April 22, 2010 (Total=10).
5. I understand that if I do not comply with the NHS expectations, I will receive one warning. After one
warning, any deficiencies will result in dismissal from NHS at the request of the Faculty Council as
outlined by the National NHS Standards.
